Tassimo News from Reader

Tassimo LargeNews is filtering in as Kraft prepares to launch the Tassimo in the U.S. this Fall. I've been sifting through the reader mails and comments and this post has the most information I've seen yet.

P. Love writes in about the Tassimo:

"Just had the opportunity to see and taste the espresso, coffee, tea and hot chocolate line available wtih the Tassimo Coffee Machine. I am in love! Great for family or small office applications. We even experimented and made a cafe mocha! According to the info I was given, the product will be available through major retailers this fall, in the US at a price of $169.00. The water carafe will be larger that the one on the European model and will have a filtration system. The machines ran non stop at the FMI Trade Show, held recently in Chicago, IL.

According to those working the show there were very few problems with the machine, even running them all the time. The single serve disks will be packaged 8 or 16 to a package and the average cup of espresso will be approximately .30 a cup. (Compare that to Starbucks!) The tassimo will also accomodate travel mugs as well as your small espresso or demitasse cup. I can't wait! It is already on my wish list!"

I know...people accused me of being a "plant" when I gushed a bit about the Bunn machine. But I'm sorry, this report looks like a blatant Kraft plant/shill who's trying to create awareness & buzz in advance of the Tassimo launch. You see it in lots of other boards/forums...Ain't It cool comes to mind (lotsa studio flacks posting "reviews" of screenings before release..the worse the movie, the more shills you see!) First off, how can anyone love a machine that's 6 months away from being launched? He/she tries (poorly) to hide the fact that they're an "insider" ("according to those working at the show..."), but the constant use of marketing-speak clearly shows her to be a plant who probby was manning the Kraft booth at the Chicago show!: "Great for family or small office applications" PUH-LEASE!!! Is it convenient, easy to clean & fun for the whole family, too? "The single serve disks will be packaged 8 or 16 to a package" Not only does she know the machine price, but she knows how the pods will be packaged!! Who the heck would know that at this time other than someone neck-deep in Kraft's Tassimo team? "The tassimo will also accomodate travel mugs as well as your small espresso or demitasse cup" Again, real bloggers/posters/people don't talk like that..she's regurgitating some sales brochure!! I guess this isn't a mortal sin..this is a pretty open forum & info is always appreciated, be it from users or manufacturers. But this "P.Love" is clearly misrepresenting herself, and it kinda ticks me off. If she'd have said, "I'm from Kraft & I think the people at your site would like to hear about our upcoming Tassimo system..." I'd totally respect her & listen to what she says. As it stands, I think we should shun this system BECAUSE they're playing games (KIDDING....kinda). Dean

Dean, you are most likely right. The amount of gush is another signal in this regard. It is quite comical, really. "I am in love!" "I can't wait!" "It's already on my wish list!" Uh huh. Darryl

Ok. This is at least a honest review. I live in France and we had the Tassimo since november. The coffe sold varies from country to country so no comments about the quality of that one other than it is good if you dont count the cappuccino with the weird mild pod. Even the to teas (Earl Grey and Green Mint) is very good. BUT. the quality of the machine is not very good, the boiler creates a lot of condens which come out to the drip tray thrugh a little hole in the site... or was supposed to. NOT. it ends on the table instead, around half a cup for each cup you make. Here you can get the pods in Classic, Voluptos, Espresso, Decaf, , Chocolate, and the two tea. Not very much to choose form and the format of the pods limits other guys like Illy or Lavazza to make pods for the Tassimo. And Oh boy, are they expenssive, dont know the price in US$, but they tend to be roughly 20-25% more expenssive than the Senseo pods. Strongley considering change it for a Alu Senseo (found this site searching for comments on that on :)

oh... forgot. It ships in Europe with the large watertank and filter. and the pods comes in either 18 or 20 pr. pack depending on kind. If the first commenter is a hoax, not a very well informed one of them :D
