If found in the New Orleans area please contact me. I had to leave this table after Katrina flooded my apartment.

Researching this table because I totally bought one at a Habitat ReStore in Sanford, FL today. Mine has a glass top. Had no idea it was Ethan Allan, it's the original finish (photo on my blog taken at the store, so not fabulous). I was going to refinish it, just not sure which way i'm going to go with it.

We are selling this table. There are some scratches on it..Mother-in-law used it to put plants on after her daughter, who bought it from the Ethan Allen Store in Allentown, Pa..back in 1970,for her new home, when they all moved up from NY. Mother-in-law gave it to us about 12 yrs. ago..plan was to build cabin on our property. zoning laws changed. we have no room for it. My sis-in-law paid 650.00 for it when she bought it.
Sounds good to me. We live in the 18360..its heavy..don't know where you are at.
you may email us at ppurcell@ptd.net..please put ethan allen table in subject line..due to mail filter.i will be watching.

We are selling this very same table. My husband's Mother gave it to us, after her daughter had bought it and lived in home she had first built when she and her husband moved up from NYC..they got divorced..she didn't want. Mother-in-law had it for years, up until about 12 yrs. ago..then we got it. Hoping to build cabin on our property, zoning laws changed..Day late $ short. So, if you are still looking for an Ethan Allen Cog Wheel Table ..we have it..please email us at ppurcell@ptd.net

I have this Ethan Allen table. My sister-in-law bought it from Ethan Allen I thought in 1970...when she moved up from New York and built her new home. I could be wrong..will ask her.....she gave it my Mother-In-Law who now lives with her. I was just searching to find a price..I know that Lana (sis-in-law) paid 650.00 for the table when she bought it. I have no room for it any longer. I know some posts go back to 2005..but if this lady is meant to own this table..she either has a chance now..or maybe she has already found one. she may contact us.

I just found this table at a consignment store and fell in love with it! Bought it for $75 and plan on making it bar height to use as a patio table. I'm looking for more information on the table because it has me so intrigued!

I am in possession of the original "cogwheel table" that Ethan Allen probably duplicated.
My table has a round base and is wider and shorter. Please email me and I will send you a picture. IT IS FOR SALE and is in excellent condition.

I also have one of these tables. My mother's husband had bought it new originally in the 1970's and she gave it to me about 10 yrs ago. My mother was always very fond of the table and it bothered her immensely if anyone ever spun the table around. I remember my older brother would spin it around and then tell his kids too just to bug her. Because of that, she refused to even consider giving it to him. I don't know what the value is. Anyone know?

Posted by: Vince at April 17, 2010 10:42 PM

I have one too! Got it from a VK rental in south lake tahoe for free! Best table ever....would love another one....I just really need to see what its like with two connected. To answer previous post..mine spins fast and free.

I have this same cogwheel table. I am not interested in selling it but I am curious as to how much others are selling theirs for. I was also wondering if anyone has had theirs refinished and if so, how it turned out?

Anyone in the southern Indiana/Illinois/Henderson, KY area know where there's one of these? My niece has one and I would love to get one for myself!

Hi, I have one of these tables. Can anyone tell me the value? Thanks!

Posted by: Christy at October 1, 2008 12:26 PM

How fast is this supposed to spin? I just picked one up at a thrift store and it turns with effort, but doesn't spin freely. My kids (under 10) begged me to buy it because they thought it was cool.

Posted by: K at September 8, 2008 3:05 PM

please email me if you are intereted in buying this table

Posted by: Bernita at August 30, 2008 4:51 PM

I have this cogwheel table and am willing to sell

Posted by: Bernita at August 30, 2008 4:45 PM

I have been searching and searching for this coffee table! I find it hilarious and so amazingly cool that there are others who also have this table, are searching for it, and have fond memories of it!

I too played Wheel of Fortune with this table when I was a little girl! My sister and I attached sheets of paper to the end with dollar values....we would yell Big Money! Big Money when we spun it.

So add my name to those who are wanting to purchase one of these coffee tables. I need it! I MUST HAVE it!!! I am willing to pay whatever it takes!

I had a table just like this one when I was growing up!! The craigs list table was sold for $85 so that would be my guess as to the value! They are very neat!!!

Posted by: Shannon at June 10, 2008 1:39 PM

I have one of these tables. Bought it in the 70's. I have held on to it because it is so neat. But it is time to let it go. Does anyone know the value? Mine is in good shape, but probably could stand the top being refinished. Anyone interested?

Posted by: Kathy at May 6, 2008 9:12 PM

I just picked this table up from a friend and refinishing the top because it was prety messed up, just wondering if anyone found a value of these tables?

We purchased one of these very tables a few years ago at a jun.... er... antique store in Oroville CA just because we thought it was "neat".
We used it for a year or two and got lots of comments and when we moved we put in storage. It wasn't in the best condition when we stored it, and after taking it out of storage a couple of months ago realized it didn't seem to get better with age. We had just moved into our new house and we needed a coffee table so we went coffee table shopping. Well, after a couple of days of shopping Judy decided that the Gear Table wasn't TOO bad, it was just scratched, and decided to bite the bullet and just refinish our old gear table.
It was then, when we turned it over to disassemble it, that we discoverd it was an Ethan Allen. Boy, were we surprised!
Now it's sanded, stained and awaiting its fimal finish coat.
We looked it up on the 'net just for grins and were surprised to see so many people have (and love) their Gear Table.
We have a standing offer from one of our friends..."If you EVER decide to sell that table, PLEASE let me know".
At this point, I don't think that's gonna happen!

I have one of these coffee tables that I am accepting offers on. I can supply as many pics as you desire seeings that there are not many of these floating around. Took me 2 years to find a page about this table. I am on the east coast and can arrange to ship it just about anywhere in the lower 48. my e-mail is tdp05@hotmail.com

Posted by: Tristan Powell at April 13, 2007 11:22 PM

I have that table too.
I worked at Ethan Allen (Baumritter) around 1970 and bought the table at employee discount.

I worked near the display room storage area. They had 2 of them so you could turn one to turn the other.

For a while we took off the middle piece and used a glass top. That didn't last long. I've refinished it once and right now it's in my shop for the second refinish. Those cogs are a pain in the butt to get the finish off.

We love the table.

My brother picked up this exact table out of Yale University's trash. My husband loves it and we are in the process of restoring it. Although ours doesn't spin, it may have at one time.

There is a name branded underneath and it says it was manufactured in Nassau County, NY

I would also be interested in buying one of these - Ken (or anyone else), if you still have one, please let me know.

I have a similar table, but more rounded teeth, a bigger. more solid base, and a more complex axil top. my parent actually bought it in the late 50s to early 60s (before i was born). I am guessing ethan allen copied the design? does anyone know anything more about them?

My husband and I purchased this table at Ethan Allen around the same time. We had to take the thingy out of the middle because all the kids would spin the table and the candy dish would fly off. We still have it and all the kids in the family love it! It is called a cog wheel coffee table and we bought it because my husband is a car buff. Cheers!

I grew up with the identical coffee table in our house. It was purchased in 1972 from Ethan Allan. I almost died when I saw this table!! My parents still have it.
