I grew up with the identical coffee table in our house. It was purchased in 1972 from Ethan Allan. I almost died when I saw this table!! My parents still have it.

My husband and I purchased this table at Ethan Allen around the same time. We had to take the thingy out of the middle because all the kids would spin the table and the candy dish would fly off. We still have it and all the kids in the family love it! It is called a cog wheel coffee table and we bought it because my husband is a car buff. Cheers!

I have a similar table, but more rounded teeth, a bigger. more solid base, and a more complex axil top. my parent actually bought it in the late 50s to early 60s (before i was born). I am guessing ethan allen copied the design? does anyone know anything more about them?

My brother picked up this exact table out of Yale University's trash. My husband loves it and we are in the process of restoring it. Although ours doesn't spin, it may have at one time.
There is a name branded underneath and it says it was manufactured in Nassau County, NY

I have that table too.
I worked at Ethan Allen (Baumritter) around 1970 and bought the table at employee discount.
I worked near the display room storage area. They had 2 of them so you could turn one to turn the other.
For a while we took off the middle piece and used a glass top. That didn't last long. I've refinished it once and right now it's in my shop for the second refinish. Those cogs are a pain in the butt to get the finish off.
We love the table.

We purchased one of these very tables a few years ago at a jun.... er... antique store in Oroville CA just because we thought it was "neat".
We used it for a year or two and got lots of comments and when we moved we put in storage. It wasn't in the best condition when we stored it, and after taking it out of storage a couple of months ago realized it didn't seem to get better with age. We had just moved into our new house and we needed a coffee table so we went coffee table shopping. Well, after a couple of days of shopping Judy decided that the Gear Table wasn't TOO bad, it was just scratched, and decided to bite the bullet and just refinish our old gear table.
It was then, when we turned it over to disassemble it, that we discoverd it was an Ethan Allen. Boy, were we surprised!
Now it's sanded, stained and awaiting its fimal finish coat.
We looked it up on the 'net just for grins and were surprised to see so many people have (and love) their Gear Table.
We have a standing offer from one of our friends..."If you EVER decide to sell that table, PLEASE let me know".
At this point, I don't think that's gonna happen!
Peace,

Dear,
How are you and your humble family today? I'm happy to inform you about our success in getting the fund transferred under the cooperation of a new partner from Paraguay.
Presently I'm in Paraguay for investment projects with my own share of the total sum. Meanwhile, I didn't forget your past efforts and
attempts to assist us in transferring those funds despite that it failed us some how that time.
Now contact my secretary, her name is Mrs. Perkins Jaunty and her email address is
p.jaunty@yahoo.com TEL:+234 -8058006800 ask her to send you the total $1.500.000.00,(ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDERED THOUSAND DOLLARS) draft which I kept for your compensation for all your past efforts and attempts in assisting us inthis matter. I appreciated your efforts at that time very much and may God continue to reward your good gestures.
So feel free and get in touch with my secretary Mrs. Perkins Jaunty and instruct her on where to send the Draft containing the money to you by confirming to her your full name and address to
send it to. Please do let me know immediately you receive it so that we can share the joy after all the sufferness at that time. In the moment, I am very busy here because of the investment projects, which the new partner and I are having at hand, finally, remember that I had forwarded instruction to the secretary on your behalf to receive that money, so feel free to get in touch with Mrs. Perkins Jaunty and she will send the amount to you without any delay.
Note I have attempted to call you but all effort failed and I had to send you a mail on this email address, which I guessed belongs to you.

I just picked this table up from a friend and refinishing the top because it was prety messed up, just wondering if anyone found a value of these tables?

I have one of these tables. Bought it in the 70's. I have held on to it because it is so neat. But it is time to let it go. Does anyone know the value? Mine is in good shape, but probably could stand the top being refinished. Anyone interested?

I had a table just like this one when I was growing up!! The craigs list table was sold for $85 so that would be my guess as to the value! They are very neat!!!

my parent still have this table after 36 years of marriage. My brother and I used to play wheel of fortune with it. I love it.
