Preva xSport Portable Espresso Maker Arrives for Review
Ultra-compact and extremely single serve coffee or espresso, the Preva xSport has arrived for review. We've got a little teaser below to keep your fingers on the mouse while we run the xSport through our battery of tests. What's unexpected about the Preva xSport is it can make espresso or coffee and can use ground coffee or espresso pods. Very cool.

Look carefully at the shot in this picture. That's not espresso. You can tell from the "crema", which isn't crema at all. Real crema looks like a richly colored, thick, creamy topping on the coffee. What I see in the picture is an ultra-light beige color with visible bubbles. Crema has no visible bubbles at all. This "crema" looks more like a little dollop of thin milk foam.
Most likely this device isn't developing nearly enough pressure for creating an espresso brew.

we would agree. We're not seeing real crema here but mostly a foamy faux crema. That being said - the coffee produced is rich and dark and quite good. We'll have a full run down soon with the test kitchen and also with a hike up Mt. Washington.
Jay, when you post your review it would be interesting if you could compare the coffee to what the Aeropress puts out. From what you say the Preva should be considered to be more in the category of the Aeropress than in the category of an espresso machine. Darryl
Will do. The Preva has just left for it's trip up Mt. Washington on a big hike. We'll keep you posted and also get the Aeropress out for a dual test drive next week.
