I have this. Works ok. Loses it's vacuum seal frequently and turns on automatically to re-vacuum. This usually is not a problem, unless you live in an apt. and your bedrooom is near the kitchen, in which case, you're awakened at 3:30 a.m. by your vacuum cannister (yes, I keep in in a cupboard, and yes it's THAT loud that it wakes me up).
A Foodsaver is clearly a better solution and they have very inexpensive models of those nowadays. Besides a clear cost advantage if you want to vacuum pack more than one canister, I'm also sure it pulls a much better vacuum. I mean, how powerful a motor can you run on a few small batteries? Even if you could, you'd use up the batteries so fast they'd become a significant expense.
