Senseo Presso Espresso Coffee Pods and Holder Arrive for Review

Img 4331

We just received our Senseo Espresso Starter box from Germany. Yep - this is only available in Europe and that's a bummer, but if you can get one (try ebay), you can make Espresso with your Senseo coffee maker. This kit will only work in your Senseo Standard editions.

From the site:

Enjoy type Espresso with Senseo® It a small cup of strong, qualitatively high-quality coffee with fine Crema - and in the hand turning! But Douwe Egberts and Philips developed a completely new technology - consisting of the special Senseo® type Espresso Pads and the special Senseo® type Espresso PAD owner. Simply strongly.

It's a simple as making regular Senseo coffee.

These taste better than senseo dark roast, but not as good as the tierra del sol variety of Target's pods. The holder does improve the flavor of regular senseo pods, so the dark roast is a little stronger (I think) when you use it. I don't understand how it seems to use 1/3 less water when you use the espresso pod holder. I wish senseo would release this in the US, or at least sell it on amazon, the senseo pods they have for the machine are all pretty awful.

I found this kit on Ebay through WCCC the Windy City Cyber Cafe for $17.99 + 5.95 S&H as Buy it NOW... The Presso Pod holder has a lip on the bottom beneath the tongue which restricts flow and increases back pressure that stops water flow sooner. Just as the Mypod has les back pressure causing more water to pass through the unit... It is great to have more options...

Your right about saying they taste pretty awful. I can not help but taste a zinc flavor in every cup I brew no matter what flavor it is they all taste so much a like to me. The base senseo is pretty much all I could afford on my budget so do you have any ideas what over pods I can try? I do not really like the ones they make.

Do you know if it is possible to use the ecopad adapter with any presso pod holder? Would it work?
