Looking to dress up your kitchen with some "black tie" appliances? Look no further than this new release of the simplehuman A40 single serve coffee pod brewer in black steel! We do like our current simplehuman brewer in stainless steel, but we could be persuaded to get a black one. It's a bit hard to tell whether the brewer has any other changes to it besides the color, but we think not. It's a nice change to an a very nice coffee pod brewer and would fit in great with our black granite countertops. I can see why Simple human killed this machine. We were never able to get decaff pods to work properly, they would jam up and water would run all over and had to force the pod section open to clean it out.
Regular pods? totally fine, any brand from Java One to Folgers to any other brands. None of the many brands decaff would work, and when I asked Simple Human they blamed the pod makers or that we placed the pods in wrong, but the design was poor for decaff. We still use it for regular but have a few Decaff pods left over that simple-ly won't work.
After several years of use, my Simplehuman coffee pod brewer started leaking badly, both water and brewed coffee. Simplehuman does not sell these units anymore, and did not think a repair was feasible. However, they gave me a complete rebate on purchase price, to buy any of the items they currently sell.
