Review: Kienna Backpacker's Brew Coffee Pods
It's always nice to find another source of interesting and unique coffee pods for your Senseo, Bunn My Cafe, Melitta One:One, simplehuman, Krups 1010 , GPOD, Home Cafe and other single serve coffee pod makers. The best thing about coffee pod brewers is the open standard - anyone with some coffee, filter paper, and a coffee pod machine can make quality coffee pods and sell them online. e-CoffeePods sent us over samples of the Kienna line of coffee pods. These coffee pods weigh in at 11 grams, and are made in Alberta, Canada by Kienna Coffees.
We decided to focus on the Backpacker's Brew, as we feel the strong sense of the Canadian outdoors when we think of drinking such a coffee. The Backpacker's Brew is a blend of African, Indian, and Central American coffees. The taste? It's supposed to be dark and smooth. How did it fair?

We fired up our trusty Bunn My Cafe and made a nice 7 oz cup of single serve coffee. We love the Bunn My Cafe, and think it's the creme de la creme of single serve coffee pod brewers. We use it for just about any coffee pod testing, and we like the fact you can use a variety of coffee pod sizes with the standard coffee pod holder it comes with.
The Bunn My Cafe is an excellent choice for
a coffee pod brewer.

The Backpacker's blend coffee from Kienna does indeed have a very smooth and dark flavor. The coffee is a bit complex, but we did enjoy the overall mouth feel and aroma from the coffee. Does it evoke a long hike in the Canadian outdoors? We think it does. We would also like to add we tried the Hazelnut Cream, French Dark, and the Irish cream coffee pods as well from Kienna, and they were also quite good.
We suggest you try out the Kienna coffee pods if you own a Senseo, Bunn My Cafe, Melitta One:One, simplehuman, Krups 1010 , GPOD, Home Cafe or other single serve coffee pod maker. We think you'll enjoy the coffee produced from the Kienna coffee pods.

What a surprise to walk into BBB, and find a whole slew of flavours that can fit my old one cup coffee maker! Well, I also dusted off my old Melita One:One, which has been sitting in the basement for about 3 years after the retail stores stopped carrrying their pods here in Alberta. Got home, had to look for the insert for about an hour, but finally found it, put in some Kienna Mocha Java pod, and hit brew with nervous expectations. Brewed my cup fine, and loved the taste. I currently have a Tassimo, which is great, but the savings on the Kienna pods vs Tassimo T-discs is substantial, especially on when compared to the Starbucks T-discs. Anyway 25 Kienna at BBB in Alberta is 9.43 tax incl, works out to 37cents a cup...great deal!! Thanks Kienna!!!
