Europe: Chocomel - Hot Chocolate for Senseo
Hot chocolate or hot cocoa is all the rage for these days for single serve coffee machines. We're really excited to see some innovation in the non-coffee hot beverage space, but just wish these innovations would come to US shores first. Chocomel, a very popular chocolate drink in Europe, is heading to Senseo. The kit for Senseo will include a special holder to use in Senseo when making a cup of Chocomel. We'll let you know if we can get one of these to try out.

Hi despite to try hot chocolate forv my senso coffee maker but in UK we don't have much choice !
I've just relocated to Israel, and was already hooked on the Senseo machine for four years in the States. I bought the "New Generation" machine on 220 for here. Chocomel DOES have a holder for New Generation (Models HD7820, HD7822, HD7823, and HD7824). This, and the Hot Choco holder for New Generation, can EASILY be found on eBay!! If you have trouble dealing with Wendy at Typical Dutch Stuff, sometimes her internet connection is down and she seems to be working alone. Her store website does not give a phone number, but her mobile phone number is: 0031645006145. (I had to open a PayPal dispute for non-receipt of an item, to get that number, and the item eventually arrived.) She is OK but slow to respond. I would stick to eBay for Hot Choco and/or Chocomel. Finally, I agree that the Chocomel comes out too watery, but when I added some milk to it, it was a perfect beverage for a winter evening. Good luck!!
Dont expect a milky or frothy drink from these pods.
The pods themselves are plastic pots containing a chocolate/heat treated milk (UHT) mixture.
You remove the top foil. To reveal the insides covered by a plastic film, which appears to be punctured but doesnt leak so I assume it yields under the pressure of the machine.
When you pop them into the special holder all it does is puncture the bottom foil so the liquid can be pushed out.
Hot water enters the top, mixes with the milk/chocolate and exits the bottom.
It isnt too strong and is sweet but not very milky at all.
But for some reason, I am hooked on them. Must be the convenience of it.
They come in boxes of 8 pods and even if you order the special starter set you normally get a box of 8 then a pod holder in a box.
If you expect a milky drink, steer clear, if you want a passable chocolate drink quickly then give it a try. Definate room for improvement though!
Not seeing much progress on these coming to North America. Any word? I noticed Philips has troubleshooting information for the item, but says they don't support it, since it wasn't developed in conjunction with them. Friesland's store lets you order IF you're in the Netherlands, that is.
Do not buy or trust Wendy from Typical Dutch Stuff.
Long story short...it took over a month to receive a product that didn't work...Wendy promised a refund on 3/10/2008 it's been over 1 month and no refund. Email go unanswered...
FYI - Chocomel cup holder is specific to Senseo's HD7800, 7810/12 and 7840 models only.
The cup holder doesn't fit models HD7820, HD7824 and HD7830.
I have the chocomel cups and when I use them, the chocodrink is very watertaste. How is this possible I have the senseomachine HD7811
My mother gave me her Senseo after enjoying for a year or two. I purchased the Cappuccino pods and the directions said to use the two cup pod holder. I don't have a two pod holder, and when I asked my mother if she might have it stored away she said it didn't come with one. Does anyone know if Deluxe model (which is what I believe I have here) owners can buy this pod holder after the fact?
We live in the Netherlands, have a Senseo machine and just managed to find the Chocomel starter pack in the shops here. It actually tastes pretty good, not as thick as regular Chocomel and not quite as sweet I think but we liked it. Wonder if we can now manage to find the pods in the shops??!?
