Clear Mugs and Single Serve Coffee - Help Us Find More

We have a long tradition here at Single Serve Coffee of using clear mugs in all of our single serve coffee reviews, and several readers have recently written in asking us where we found this clear coffee mug so they could purchase one. We thought we knew where they could, but have found out we can no longer find our precious clear mug for sale anywhere. Now a little background...

Since we first bought the Senseo over 3+ years ago, we also purchased on that same day a clear mug seen in almost all of our reviews. We have long thought the mug we feature in most of our reviews with a handle is from Bodum. Well - it's not. Apparently it's made in France (our only clue to it's origin), and over time we've seen the mug in Whole Foods and other locations for sale but never purchased another one.

Not our coffee mug, but a very strking
Bistro Double Wall Thermal Coffee Mugs

We did recently find the new Bistro Double Wall Thermal Coffee Mugs, that are both double walled and also have a handle. But these aren't the same thick sturdy glass construction we've come to know and love.

Please sound off in the comments on where and what clear mugs you've found, can find, or are using. It would be great to have an extensive list of new clear mugs so everyone can enjoy their single serve coffee in the only way we like to drink it - in the clear.

I have some wonderful thick glass coffee mugs that we've had for nearly 15 years. They aren't the cool double-walled variety, but we won them as a door prize at a Navy ball & they have are etched with the submarine insignia on them. We actually use them pretty frequently when we have company & people really seem to enjoy using them (although they do get awfully hot!). No idea who made them- they seem pretty generic. They always reminded me of something you'd find in the 60's.

Just saw in my Brookstone catalog they have handmade double-walled tumblers. They come in 3 sizes 9oz, 12oz, and 15oz and you get a set of 2. These are mouth-blown, heat and scratch resistant, dishwasher/microwave oven-safe.

I use the clear glass coffee mugs from Charbucks (aka, Starbucks) for about $5-6.00. Thick and sturdy.

I honestly prefer the Bodum Pavina mugs without the handle. I've currently got 6 9oz mugs that I just can't complain about.

I think this is what you're looking for, at Cost Plus World Market: http://tinyurl.com/2t2y74

You can find very nice glass coffee mugs at IKEA, 6 for $5, nice and sturdy. They're here: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80062857 although I confess to using their $2, 20oz. beer mug: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10092216

Besides the Bodums, the only other one I've seen is on the Dean & Deluca website. Probably still made by Bodum, but...

I did a bit of digging and would bet that your clear mug, seen in many of the reviews on this site, is the Bodum Corona clear 10.5oz mug. The pictures look identical.

Here's a link showing the Bodum Corona 10.5 oz mug which I'm convinced is the one shown above. http://www.greenbeanery.ca/bean/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2587

Just found these at Bed Bath & Beyond. Don't know how they will hold up in the dishwasher but they fit very nicely in my tassimo (I have issues with tall mugs & cups fitting and the mess of removing the drip cup) and my machiatto looks lovely in one now. Luigi Bormioli Duos 13-Ounce Latte/Cappuccino Mugs (Set of 4) Glassware has two layers of durable borosilcate glass creating a cool glass-in-glass effect. Best of all, this double-walled glassware insulates warm and cold beverages and holds the temperature of the beverage without changing the temperature of your glass. No more sweating glasses leaving rings on your table. Microwave and dishwasher safe.

These are Luigi Bormioli. Bed Bath & Beyond and Linens N Things both carry them in my area (Austin, TX) although the first two boxes I looked in both contained broken glasses... The handles on the ones I've seen are slightly slimmer looking that your photo, though I suspect they vary individually.
