Review: Green Mountain Fair Trade Golden French Toast K-Cups for Keurig

Review Single Serve Coffee IMGP3213.jpg

This past Winter yielded the seasonal Fair Trade Golden French Toast K-Cup from Green Mountain and after several hectic weeks around the single serve coffee office, we finally got a chance to give this flavor a try. Green Mountain describes this K-Cup as having the flavors of “warm, buttered French Toast drizzled with sweet maple syrup”. After reading that, we couldn’t wait any longer to do a review.

We chose the 5.25oz brew size to extract the full flavors and were greeted with the pleasant scents of maple with an added hint of cinnamon lying underneath. First impressions when tasting this coffee are surprisingly enough quite the opposite of its scent… you taste the cinnamon first, then you taste the maple afterwards. The flavoring is right up there with the real thing and we’re sure this K-Cup would be great paired with it.

Green Mountain has been fairly consistent with its flavored coffees lately and it’s nice to see this variety is a solid choice among the rest of their offerings. The body is the usual reddish-brown of most light roasts and as with most flavored coffees we’ve tried recently, a strong bite of acidity quickly disappears to reveal the full flavors which are smooth throughout. You also get a clean finish with a very faint cinnamon aftertaste.

  • Aroma – 9 – Nice mild maple nose with hints of cinnamon. Just what you’d expect from the real thing.
  • Acidity – 5 – A bit strong at first, eventually mellows out to reveal full flavors.
  • Body – 7 – Average light to medium body, brown with shades of red.
  • Flavor – 7 – Mild burst of cinnamon yields to maple flavors underneath.
  • Mouth Feel – 8 – First thing that hits you is the acidity, but it quickly dissolves to a clean finish.
  • Coffee Drinker – Suited best for casual coffee drinkers or those who prefer flavored varieties.

Overall Rating: 86 – Good

Overall, this is a nice alternative to having your usual cup of unflavored java in the morning and as far as we’re aware, Green Mountain is the only K-Cup manufacturer to offer this flavor, so it’s also fairly unique & is definitely worth a try if you’re looking for something different.

Green Mountain Fair Trade Golden French Toast K-Cups will work in your Keurig Elite B40 Brewer, Keurig B50, Keurig Special Edition Ultra Elite B60, Keurig Platinum B70 Brewer, Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single Cup Brewer, and other Keurig K Cup brewers including the Keurig Mini B30.
