Tassimo has launched a new Tassimo T65 Single Serve Coffee Maker that features a new Multilingual LC display. The multi-lingual display will help Tassimo launch into new and existing markets without the need to localize the machines for each market thus saving money. There's also a new set of lights for cup stand illumination.

After a few weeks with this Tassimo model what stands out? Is it a better brewer overall? We have to say the addition of the illuminated cup stand and the LCD display does set this brewer apart but at a cost.

Multilingual LC display

One thing that's really apparent right away is the LCD display tells you EXACTLY what to do. The T-45 does a good job, but you have to guess what icons are telling you what to do and where to press. It's just nice to have the machine "say press me now" or the like - or "Hey - I'm Ready". That's not the exact text but you get the idea - the machine is reassuring that your beverage is in progress.

The Tassimo T65 Single Serve Coffee Maker also comes with the walter filtration system, and all the features of the earlier T-45 model including:

On Demand Brewing - The brewer now has on demand brewing instead of heating a reservoir of hot water. It's also very quiet, and the only noise you'll hear is the pitter patter of the pump when it starts up.
Improved Water Tank and Filtration System - The Bosh Tassimo has a larger reservoir that's easier to fill and carry. The reservoir features both a handle, filter quality display (or when to replace), and larger water filter. The improvements are immediate after you fill the tank for the first time, and put the reservoir back in place - easy and it looks great with the blue tint.
Smaller Footprint and more Attractive Design - We really love the narrow footprint and improved sleek design. We liked the older model, but when you put a gumdrop next to a porsche - you notice the difference.
Quiet Brewing - The Bosch Tassimo is whisper quiet. Gone is the rather loud and jarring pumping and brewing you heard in the older model. In its place is a very quiet, almost pleasant brewing cycle that makes sense.
Integrated Descaling T Disc Storage - the descaling T Disc is stored behind the water tank inside the machine. In the first week of using the older machine, we lost our cleaning T Disc. Now we have a place for it in the Bosch Tassimo and won't have to worry about losing this one.
Smaller Power Cord and Storage - the power cord is very thin and round, and the excess cord you don't need stores inside the bottom of the Bosch Tassimo. You simply push the extra power cord inside the brewer.

Brewing a cup with the Tassimo T-65 Single Serve Coffee and Hot Beverage System

It's the same process as with any earlier Tassimo model. Lift the brew head, place the T-Disc bar code down, and then close the brew head. Hit the button and the machine reads the bar code and prepares your beverage perfectly. The Tassimo is a fantastic machine because of the bar code technology allowing it to know how to prepare you latte milk, or make a perfect cup of Starbucks Breakfast blend. We tried a variety of beverages with the Tassimo T65 Single Serve Coffee Maker, and they all were at the same level of quality as the T45 earlier model (The Bosch Tassimo Suprema).

Conclusions

Pros:

All the features of the previous model
New LCD Display provides clear instructions and directions
New Illuminated cup stand is very cool and very interesting in the early hours of the morning
Standby mode works - and the machine immediately can brew after waking it up

Cons:

Price - at $50 more than the previous model it's $199 (that being said there is currently as of 12/01/09 a $50 rebate in place)

We highly recommend the Tassimo T65 Single Serve Coffee Maker for those who wan the extra two features. If they are of no interest, we think the earlier Tassimo T45 Bosch Suprema model will fit the bill.

Hi, Can you tell me if this machine will is able to just produce hot water without a T disk? Mark.

Yep - after asking SH and trying myself... There must be a disc present in the machine in order to even make it work, so yes... you need to use the descale t-disc in order to produce just hot water out of any Tassimo machine be it the older Braun models or the newer Bosch models.

You forgot the third feature of the T65: the "titanium" color. It's the only Tassimo to feature the color, and for my gal it was a deal-closer, as she really didn't care for the red or light-gray options on the T45. The light is a cool bonus, though.

My husband purchased the Tassimo T65 for me. I thought it was a wonderful idea. The T-disc system is ok but you have to order as not too many stores in my area carry them. Now to my story. Stores in my area carry Keurig products. They are usually cheaper than T-disc. I would have returned the Tassimo and bought a Keurig which was about $40.00 cheaper except that the store assured me I could get a $50.00 rebate. Now 3 months later the company informs me that I cannot get a rebate although I followed the directions in the rebate form. I have also seen a component for the Keurig that allow you to use your own flavored coffee. So, all you fellow coffee lovers - but the Keurig.

This is singleservecoffee.com, right? For a minute there, I thought I was on the wrong site. I've been through 2 Keurigs in 2 months, and I'm hoping the Tassimo is a better product. I haven't seen many negative reviews. The little extra spent will be worth it if I don't have to keep going back to the store to exchange the unit.

I don't know about the Keurig. Reviews are positive when it's working, but there are HUNDREDS of reviews out there about machines that died anywhere from 2 to 12 months after purchase. I'm not willing to take that chance. (That's across every model number.)
