SunCana Single Serve Coffee Pod Brewer Improvements Impress

Brewing a cup of French Roast coffee from La Pod coffee pods.
The SunCana (formerly SunCafe) coffee pod brewer has recently received several upgrades. Though coffee pod brewers using this design have have failed to impress us in the past, the current iteration of the SunCana coffee pod brewer impresses us with 3 key upgrades that make the coffee produced excellent.
The SunCana brewer improvements include:
- Brew Temp
- Coffee Pod Drawer
- Better pre-wetting cycle

The improved removable coffee pod drawer makes a velvety cup of coffee.
The biggest and most noticeable improvement of the SunCana coffee pod brewer is the pod drawer and handle that's used to close the coffee pod drawer. Both have been re-factored and feel more solid. The coffee pod drawer used to be able to only fit up to around a 9 gram coffee pod, but can now accept up to a 12 gram pod.
We found when using a larger pod it was still a tight fit, but the brewer did not buckle under the pressure. Also the coffee pod drawer has been reworked to have 1 hole in the middle instead of many holes to make a more velvety coffee when brewing.

Temp at cup is much improved at 174F+.
Also temperature at the brew head and then into your cup is just higher. On average we got well into the 178+ range at the cup, and when brewing without a coffee pod in the drawer we got well into the 185+ range.
Pre-wetting your coffee pod will still yield the best results,
regardless of the pre-wetting cycle most coffee pod brewers have.
We still recommend pre-wetting you coffee pod prior to brewing, but the pre-wetting cycle in the brewer should be enough for most coffee pod aficionados.

The cup of French Roast coffee produced has a foamy top and amazing taste.
The design of the brewer remains the same, but the overall fit and finish and quality of the brewer is just better than previous versions. There is more metal and trim to the SunCana coffee pod brewer.
We want to thank SunCana for sending us this coffee pod brewer to review.
