Unboxing the Bunn Trifecta MB Single Cup Brewer

Back in January, we first got word that Bunn might have a home version of the Trifecta in the works. A few days later were able to pass along more information, and then forum member EricBNC provided a first look/taste after trying out the machine at CoffeeCon in Chicago the weekend after its official release. At the time, Bunn graciously offered to provide a trial unit for us to review, but demand for the first run of Trifectas—assembled by hand in Springfield, IL—was high, so we took a deep breath and eagerly followed early adopters’ initial reports of the high-quality coffee the Trifecta was capable of producing. We’re happy to report that our trial unit has now arrived, and it was certainly worth the wait. How about some unboxing pictures?

The Trifecta arrived double-boxed. That "delicate electrical instrument" label on the outer box made us smile.

Stylish decal on the inner box.

The first things you see upon opening the inner box: accessories, a manual, a nice one-page summary of the manual for the impatient, and a brewing guide.

Included are two brewing chambers, a portable digital scale with 0.1-g. sensitivity and lid, and a glass beaker of sorts that we can’t get enough of! That’s the water reservoir in the lower right corner.

A closer look at the scale, which works well.

The Trifecta MB next to a few grinders on a counter 13 inches deep. You can see there’s room to spare.

Set-up was effortless, and we were making our first cup within minutes of unboxing. Cool blue light! That’s the brew button. There’s also a white LED shining over the drip tray to illuminate your cup while the magic happens.

Over the next few weeks we’ll provide much more detail on the Trifecta’s features, ease of use, and effectiveness in terms of single-serve brewing. If there’s anything in particular you’d like us to touch on, please let us know in the comments section.

Note: Bunn sent us this trial unit for review purposes. We’re grateful, of course, but we promise to give our honest, unbiased opinions of the Trifecta MB based on thorough testing.
