Coffee Naps Are Better Than Non-Coffee Naps

Best nap time 295x300

Drinking a cup of coffee and then taking a quick nap sounds like a crazy idea but it’s not. It's called a coffee nap, and scientists agree you will feel better with a little coffee before your nap and be better rested. We won’t bore you with the details here (but you can read them over at Vox), but essentially the caffeine in coffee will try and get itself into the same receptors that help with deep sleep making your nap even more restful.

Here’s how you do a coffee nap:

  1. First, drink coffee. You need to drink it quickly.
  2. Right after you're finished, immediately try to go to sleep. Even if it’s not deep just reaching a tranquil half-asleep stage can be helpful.
  3. Finally, make sure to wake up within 20 minutes, so you don't enter the deeper stages of sleep, and you're awake when the caffeine is just starting to hit your brain.
