Kicking Horse Whole Bean Dark Roast Coffee

Kicking horse coffee bag

We just got exposed to Kicking Horse Whole Bean Dark Roast Coffee. After having several cups at friends, we got some for ourselves and have been enjoying dark roasted Kicking Horse cups of coffee from our Aeropress. Kicking Horse mixes both Indonesian and Central American roasts to create a dark, flavorful cup of coffee and it's guaranteed to kick some sense into you.

This is a sweet, smoky, and audacious dark blend coffee, and it's fair trade Roasted in Canada. We highly recommend giving it a try and it will also produce yummy coffee using your reusable K-Cup filters.

I had seen their stuff a while back and almost bought some. However, they lost all credibility with me when they referred to Indonesian and Central American as roasts. They aren't roasts. Those are vague origins at best. If they are proud of what goes into their blends they should be more specific.

If you like Kicking Horse 'Kick Ass', then anyone would love Kicking Horse '454 Horsepower'.

A word of warning though; the bags have an expiry date listed on them, and I contacted the company to inquire what this meant. I was informed that the beans are roasted and released to retail sales within 90 days of the expiry date. So if you have January/2016, they've supposedly been roasted in October/2015.

Trouble is, I purchased January/2016 beans back in March/2015 :)

That having been said, I've always found KH coffee to be fresh and vibrant. I use a burr grinder and am only drinking French Press at the moment.
