Senseo Original Single Serve Coffee Maker Returning to US
Is the Senseo Original Coffee Pod brewer coming back to the US? We think it might happen. AC has written in with thoughts and finding regarding this interesting development.
So I'm sitting here and an e-mail just pops into my box from the Senseo Store. I gave them my e-mail address years ago but, as you could imagine, I haven't received an e-mail from them in a very long time. The title of the e-mail stated "NEW Machine + FREE Coffee". Intrigued, I opened it. Unfortunately the body of the e-mail is empty. However, I went to the website and found new content there. The machine is of familiar shape but is said to have improved parts. Although it's not like the cool machines that have been available in Europe for many years it's still interesting to see some movement in the product this side of the pond. They are calling it the "Original" so I wonder if there are other plans for the future.
We can expect the following for the improved Senseo coffee pod brewer:
- New boiler for a hotter first cup
- Brew-stop feature
- New premium machine finish for a better appearance
- 30 minute auto shut-off for energy saving and safety
- In partnership with Philips
Check it out at Senseo Original HD7810 and let us know if you hear anything or get any interesting emails.

If this will work, they need to focus on improved blends. What caused me to defect was K-Cup just had better light brews.
I stumbled on Lavazza Senseo-type pods at a hotel I was staying at once, turns out they were only sold institutionally here!
Frankly if I were Philips I would do what Keurig did, and create a Senseo 2.0. The pod design is not the problem, it's the thickness. If they had a truly thicker pod (not the cappuccino crud, but a real K-cub size pod), they could do some really innovative beverages at a low cost.
