Original Donut Shop Sweet & Creamy Maple Cream K-Cups Review

MapleCream KCup

After our recent reviews of Christmas/Holiday-themed K-Cups which appeared on store shelves in… um… August… we shook our heads, decided to switch gears and thought it was time to review something more seasonally appropriate. Today we’re looking at a flavor which was introduced last year but we’ve only managed to finally track down this year… the “Autumn Release” seasonal (and ridiculously long named) The Original Donut Shop Sweet & Creamy Maple Cream K-Cups.

As with previous releases in ODS’ Sweet & Creamy series, these are “all-in-one” K-Cups which feature the coffee, creamer & sweetener all included within the same K-Cup. If there is one thing on this planet we love even more than coconut, it’s anything maple and we’re pleased to say that these K-Cups were well worth the hunt. (Note to Keurig: If you want to field test a Maple Candied Coconut K-Cup in the future, we’re more than willing to assist ASAP)

Brewing these K-Cups result in sweet notes of maple aroma with subtle smoky notes of the coffee hiding underneath. The creamy texture is the first thing you notice upon tasting and as the flavors mingle about, you notice the subtle maple flavoring blending with the sweetener and then the coffee flavor in the background. While this K-Cup is definitely sweet, it’s not an overbearingly sweet flavor. We find the maple flavoring helps mask the sweetener’s flavor and while it could have been a little stronger in maple taste for our liking, you DO definitely get a mild taste of maple in the final cup.

Now that the weather is starting to turn a bit on the chilly side and the colors of leaves are starting to slowly turn on the trees, we can definitely see ourselves drinking this on our patio or on our way to work each morning as a ready-to-go alternative to our usual coffee fix. Just pop it in the brewer and away you go… no need to dig around for sweeteners or creamers. Now, obviously, if you’re artificial-averted, you’d best steer clear of this but if you’re like us and are of the YOLO persuasion, then we think you’ll enjoy this as a quick way to get your maple & coffee fix all in an easy & convenient offering.

So, what do we think? Is this one worth checking out?

We would like to note that we found the  Original Donut Shop Sweet & Creamy Maple Cream K-Cups at the Keurig Retail Store (Burlington Mall) and purchased them on our own for the purpose of this review. The Original Donut Shop Sweet & Creamy Maple Cream K-Cups will work in all K-Cup Brewers including Keurig 2.0.

We would also like to thank our Single Serve Coffee correspondent SH for writing this review.
