Review: Community Coffee Dark Roast Coffee Pods

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod ReviewsLibrary - 7000We're having a cup of dark roast single serve coffee from Community Coffee this morning and really enjoying it. If you don't know Community Coffee, you should. Community Coffee is the largest family-owned retail coffee brand in the U.S. The company’s roots grew from a small country store in Baton Rouge where more than 80 years ago, founder Henry Norman 'Cap' Saurage brewed his popular coffee.

The coffee became so popular that he named it Community in honor of his loyal friends and customers. The owners eventually turned their attention away from the grocery store and devoted all of their time and energy to making coffee. And now Community Coffee is making Single Cup or Single Serve Coffee pods and will they be as good as their other coffee?

Single Serve Coffee - BETA FORUMS

Logo Phpbb We wanted to let you know the Single Serve Coffee BETA Forums are open. We wanted to provide a place for extended conversations, unlike comments on all the articles where it's mostly single threaded, the forums provide a place you could talk about coffee pods until you were so wired on caffeine you might just write your own reviews!

We're calling them BETA as it's the latest fad in putting up software for people to use while you make it look nice and fix all the things the community wants before going "LIVE", but we assure you it's very useable and very good looking already.

So visit the forums, sign up and register, and talk with other single serve coffee readers.

B000Alk0Hc.01-A2Im9Lmcaaijmt. Scmzzzzzzz Looks like the new Krups Home Cafe Coffee Pod Brewer is available at Amazon.com. It's priced at $130 and available from a ZShops seller. The price seems in line with expectations it would be more in the Keurig B50 price range. "Krups expertise in coffee brewing is combined with the convenience of Home Cafe coffee pods to produce a consistent, custom brewed cup of hot coffee in less than a minute. No coffee mess, no unused coffee down the drain, just perfect pressure-brewed coffeehouse taste on demand."

Review: AH French Roast Coffee Pods

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod Reviews Last Roll - 76Wendy from Typical Dutch Stuff sent us in a sampler pack of AH coffee pods to review. The coffee pods come individually wrapped and weigh in at 7 grams each. At 7 grams, these are sized identically to the Senseo coffee pods and if you want to brew a double cup at 8 oz, you'll need to use 2 coffee pods. When you order a sampler pack, you will get 2 of each of the following flavors; Dutch Roast, French Roast, Italian Roast, Java Blend, Ethiopia Blend, and Brazil Blend.

Last Roll - 53Before we get into tasting the coffee, it was quite an ordeal to get a cup brewed. I'm having this cup of AH French Roast brewed from a Senseo single serve coffee machine deep in the northern California mountains, just a little northwest of a little town called Hyampom.

Single Serve Coffee Visits Cool Beans Coffee Pods

Coolbean LogoCool Beans Visit - 01Peter J. Guildner of Cool Beans Pods asked us to visit to see how coffee pods were made at Cool Beans Pods. We were very excited to visit Peter, as Cool Beans Pods has been in the coffee pod market just about the same time the single serve coffee market exploded last year and we've really enjoyed all the coffee pods from Cool Beans.

We arrived in Rocky Hill, CT early afternoon just as the heat was in full force and drinking coffee seemed like a rather hot thing to do. Cool Beans is located in a large office park with facilities in a rather large and very cool beans warehouse. Peter greeted us and gave us a little tour around the Cool Beans coffee pod making area.

Wolfgang Puck Instant Hot Latte Review Followup

Library - 6778-1-1 We just reviewed the new Wolfgang Puck Instant Hot Latte and had some outstanding questions about recycling the can and also how safe the cans were after using given the quicklime mixture used to heat the cans. We just got word that the cans are recyclable and the mixture is non hazardous and will not cause any concerns in landfills.

From David Cooper:

"We have just heard that our Self Heating container has received a recycling classification from the Department Of Conservation and the #7 and recycle logo will appear on all new labels. Until then the container is perfectly acceptable for disposal through normal channels.

As you know the container uses a mixture of quicklime and water. Quicklime is created by cooking limestone rocks. Limestone & quicklime are non toxic and non hazardous materials that occur naturally and will not cause any concerns in landfills."

New Look & Features for Single Serve Coffee 2005

Csiro-09-Cowboy-1Maybe you noticed - maybe you didn't. But it's been over a year since we launched Single Serve Coffee.com and we wanted to tidy up things a bit. We've redesigned the header and also the accompanying graphics for the site. We were tired of just a two colored brown and white site and hope you enjoy the new graphics as they seem to feel more coffee to everyone here at Single Serve Coffee.com.

Also you may notice little odds and ends getting spruced up on different pages and new features being rolled out. You can now email a link to any story we run on Single Serve Coffee.com by clicking "Email This". Also, we've updated the titles to the individual stories to make searching above even easier.

We've also consolidated our RSS/ATOM feed for reading Single Serve Coffee.com via RSS. You can now add Single Serve Coffee.com headlines to your My.Yahoo page or add it to the news reader of your choice. All the details here.

And of course you know about our mailing list as we are giving away $50 dollars this month to a lucky random person who signs up. The mailing list will feature special promotions and insider news you won't find anywhere else.

Stay tuned for even more features as we hit the August time frame; including some much needed discussion Forums for you to register and talk about Single Serve Coffee whenever you want. You can visit the BETA of the forums right now and tell us what you would like to see in the forums by visiting the Talk Back Section and signing up. Feel free to post and get settled in - just please excuse the mess.

Thanks again for all your continued support.

45 Degrees of Coffee Table Friday!!!

Furn CftblWe search and search every week trying to find the best coffee tables - and like last week - sometimes we come up empty handed. But this week? WOW. Instead of the old square - let me put my feet up coffee tables we usually find, I've got a gem. This coffee table from 45 Degrees Design has a 1/8" thick teak veneer for the top and solid mahogany legs attached by loose tenons (okay - no idea what tenons are). Hey - we just like it.

Review: Wolfgang Instant Hot Latte by Single Serve Coffee

Library - 6778-1Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod ReviewsDavid Cooper sent us a one of each of the 4 new Wolfgang Puck Instant Hot Lattes to try. We first covered this cool new single serve coffee idea earlier in the year. Each of the lattes come in a unique self heating can which heats to over 140 degrees F in just under 6 minutes to give you a very portable instant hot latte. We think you can't get more single serve coffee than a instant heating can with a yummy latte located inside.

Coffee Blog from CoffeeGIANT

16860893 707D3C2C6C SWe've been reading this blog from Heather at CoffeeGIANT since February. It has some great run downs of the industry and we recommend it for some coffee reading. Right now they've got a great article on the state of coffee pods and who's trying to win.

"If you haven’t heard the buzz, you soon will. The newest adventure in single cup coffee is the “coffee pod” and pod machine. The concept is great, a universal one-cup coffee maker that has refills readily available for it. The pod it’s self is a relatively simple concept, a single serving of coffee in a filter packet. By using a small filter pack you can make a single cup of freshly brewed coffee or tea quickly and conveniently."

Do you know of other cool coffee blogs? Sound off and let us know. We love a good single serve coffee read.

Review: Gourmet Coffee Café Single Serve Brewer from Lexxus International

Cafe-1Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod ReviewsCharlie Golick, a Lexxus International representative sent us in the newly released Gourmet Coffee Café to review. The Gourmet Coffee Café is a single serve coffee pod brewer utilizing an espresso, coffee, and tea pod holder. You'll be able to order the Gourmet Coffee Café pods from Lexxus International representatives.

Gourmet Coffee Café - 08-1

One of the things that distinguishes the Gourmet Coffee Café from other single serve coffee brewers is the ability to make espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, regular coffee, and teas all from one single serve coffee brewer. The Gourmet Coffee Café has a milk frother on the side that allows for well - milk frothing. This little innovation makes the Gourmet Coffee Café the only single serve coffee brewer we know of with this innovation.

Review: JaVaNa One Sumatra Coffee Pods

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod ReviewsImg 0287Robert Maurer from PA sent us in a set of JaVaNa One coffee pods to review. The JaVaNa One pods can be found in Giant Food Stores and Stop & Shop branded food stores throughout the northeast and mid-atlantic states. We haven't found any place on the web you can order JaVaNa One pods but hopefully this will change in the future.

Each JaVaNa One coffee pod back holds 18, 7 gram coffee pods and works in Senseo, Bunn My Cafe, and other one cup coffee brewers. We found you'll need 2 pods to really get the cup of coffee you'll want to drink. They come packed very much like the Senseo or Maxwell House coffee pods, and for this review we focused on the Sumatra coffee pods and found that we liked what we brewed a whole lot.

Beyond Digital Living Coffee Maker

Photo Cm Okay - I admit it. It's not a single serve coffee maker, but it is indeed darn cool. The Beyond Digital Living Coffee maker is a networked small appliance for your coffee making needs. You can schedule brewing coffee right over the internet using a web browser and time your coffee to be brewed when you want it.

If they did have this for the Keurig or Bunn, I think logging into my single serve coffee maker from the laptop in the kitchen and firing it off might be fun and a bit excessive - but I can dare to dream.
