We've Moved Hosts! New Raw SingleServeCoffee.com Speed and Power!
All Blogpire websites have moved hosting facilities. Seems we're all growing so well that we outstripped the bandwidth and CPU limitations of our previous internet provider. But that's good news, since it means we've got tons of dedicated readers like you who keep coming back to our site. So thanks! And even though we've moved, we're still the same bat-time, same bat-URL.

Trampoline Coffee Table
The premise is, why have a middle on a coffee table when the drinks are placed on the edge- might as well be a trampoline. Made with 3/4" walnut veneer plywood with a waxed oil finish, the exquisite handmade cast urathane light can be moved among three low volt(12v) electrical contact points around the edge. Oh...and it costs a whopping $4500 bucks so you'd better start jumping for cash.
Okay - so we don't smoke and drink coffee here at Single Serve Coffee, but we sure do like our Jim Jarmusch movies served up with a little Joe. We really enjoyed the Tom Waits/Iggy Pop segment and the Kate Blanchett piece. What the movie was lacking for our tastes, was a little segment with someone at home and a single serve coffee maker. Perhaps in the sequel Jim Jarmusch will get it right. :-)
About the movie:
A comic series of short vignettes built on one another to create a cumulative effect, as the characters discuss things as diverse as caffeine popsicles, Paris in the '20s, and the use of nicotine as an insecticide--all the while sitting around sipping coffee and smoking cigarettes. As director Jim Jarmusch delves into the normal pace of our world from an extraordinary angle, he shows just how absorbing the obsessions, joys and addictions of life can be, if truly observed.
We're pretty excited to hear Keurig Inc. has tapped advertising agency Brand Content to handle its creative advertising account. We love the ads they did for Monster.com and we think it's about time one of our favorite single serve coffee makers got some air time.
"Brand Content's strong portfolio of work and the conceptual thinking behind their ideas for our product really impressed us and made the decision to choose the agency as our marketing partner an easy one," said John Whoriskey, vice president and general manager of the Keurig at Home division, in a statement. "They understood the market and delivered the work that we believe will make a big difference for us and our retail partners."
illy has just announced the first in its 2006 espresso cup art collection - Jan Fabre's "The Blue Hour".
Fabre often uses the "blue hour" in his works. This concept was inherited from Jean-Henri. The artist is sometimes able to identify himself with the objects, with the organisms and with the questions that he investigates through his art, because he totally emerges himself. In fact, Fabre is sometimes a plant or an insect, beautiful and ugly, alive and dead like vegetation and insects.
Now we're not sure how much we identify ourselves here at Single Serve Coffee with insects, but definitely coffee or espresso cups.
Review: Cafepods Buzz Coffee Pods for Senseo, Home Cafe, & Other Single Serve Coffee Makers
Cafepods is back in the US with a dedicated US store and we're pretty excited. It's been nearly 2 years since we've had many of the blends that we started our single serve coffee journey on. We think back foundly to our original reviews on their Italian roast coffee pods and wonder where all that time went.
We're very excited to have a steady supply of their Buzz coffee pods. Buzz offers a rich crema and more caffiene than their italian blend that we reviewed so long ago. It has a very snappy taste, with a hint of robusta and a very precise flavor that lingers on the sides of the tongue.
Get Connected to the Single Serve Coffee Community in our Forums
We've been growing by leaps and bounds here at SingleServeCoffee.com and wanted to make sure everyone knows about our amazing forums. The Single Serve Coffee Forums have been around since mid summer last year and have grown to over 800+ dedicated single serve coffee drinkers along with over 10,000+ posts on various single serve coffee topics. We encourage you to sign up and get involved.
Here's a few of the amazing types of posts and people you can find at the Forums.
Keurig My K-Cup Reuseable Coffee Filter at Amazon.com
The Keurig My K-Cup reuseable coffee filter is now available at Amazon.com for $15. We recently reviewed this little wonder and found it to be quite good. Plus if you need to convince someone in your household to finally bite the bullet and get a single serve coffee machine, then telling them they can use any coffee they want will help them get over their outdated drip coffee maker.
Crafted in Italy for illy, these stunningly chic, eight-ounce crystal glasses were created especially for hot and iced espresso drinks. We think a few double shots or perhaps even a cup or two of Heifer Hope Blend might look pretty fine in these glasses.
We're always on the lookout for the better place to stay when we travel abroad and good coffee is always a factor. Nespresso And Radisson have signed an agreement to offer Nespresso at more Than 175 Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Okay - so perhaps we don't travel to Europe, the Middle East and Africa every month, but if we do - we know we're guaranteed some quality espresso even at the hotel.
“Like Nespresso, Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts has a reputation for providing a superior level of customer service,” said Mark Leenders, international director of the out-of-home division for Nestlé Nespresso SA. “Nespresso is delighted to provide Radisson SAS guests with ‘the ultimate coffee experience’ – moments of genuine pleasure and indulgence while enjoying the perfect coffee or espresso.”

Aeropress Inventor Brews a Faster Cup of Good Coffee
We've been a pretty big fan of the Aerobie Aeropress (you can read our full review here) and it looks like the inventive single serve coffee maker is finally starting to get the attention it deserves.
Sixty-seven-year-old Alan Adler of Los Altos admits he wasn't much of a coffee lover. In fact, more times than not, it just upset his stomach. But that didn't dissuade this electronics engineer, who rocketed to success for his line of wildly popular boomerang-type toys, from doing what comes naturally -- tinkering.
The result? One mighty fine cup of joe.
Adler, a Stanford University lecturer and inventor of the Aerobie flying ring, has created a simple, efficient and compact $30 coffee maker that doesn't have to be plugged in. This new invention, his first food-related product, brews what he swears is the best cup of java you've ever had.
We like the more feminine styling of the Metro Mug and it comes in pink, silver, and baby blue. Designed by Swiss company Sigg, the Metro Mug is designed for enjoying coffee or a tall latte on-the-go. Made from high-grade steel, the double-walled vacuum insulated mug keeps your coffee hot for up to 6 hours, or your iced drinks cold for up to 10 hours.
Review: Heifer Hope Blend K-Cups from Green Mountain Coffee
We've been drinking the Heifer Hope Blend K-Cups from Green Mountain Coffee over the past two weeks and think these new k-cups are delicious, complex, and have a very long lasting finish. These new K-Cups will work in your in your Keurig B40, B50, and B60 brewers.
Heifer Hope Blend was created to support Heifer International’s fight against world hunger. Green Mountain sourced coffee for this blend from the La Voz Cooperative in Guatemala. While Heifer teaches La Voz farmers ways to diversify their income, Green Mountain helps to supply a stable market for their coffee.
Target.com and Amazon.com have an online only order of Caffe Ferrero 100% Arabica E.S.E. Espresso Pods. We haven't tried these yet, but it's an interesting move on Target's part to offer a 120-count box of coffee pods at $49.95 in a bulk box. The E.S.E. espresso pods are made up of 100% Arabica coffee beans and use eco-washed and sun-dried coffees from the Brazilian regions to produce a full-bodied espresso. We'll see if we can track down some of these pods in a lesser amount for a review.
Coca Cola BlaK: Single Serve Coffee Meets Single Serve Coke
We would have never expected such a drink unless we had seen it with our own eyes yeseterday at a local Target. Yep - that's right - Coca Cola meets Single Serve Coffee in BlaK - pronounced "Black". The tagline is also a bit mind blowing - Coke Effervescence meets Coffee essense.
Blak has more caffeine in it than a typical can of Coke and is priced at $1.75 for an 8 ounce bottle. Now we're not talking as much as a nice shot or two of espresso, but definitely more. We tried a little taste and found it to be quite good. It's really not that sweet and is much better than say a Starbuck's bottle drink because of being less sweet.
Coca-Cola Blāk is an invigorating and stimulating blend that has a perfect balance of the effervescent taste sensation of Coca-Cola and natural flavors, with real coffee. The lightly carbonated, mid-calorie beverage, which is designed to appeal to adult consumers, is yet another example how The Coca-Cola Company reaches out to new audiences and addresses new beverage occasions.
"Coca-Cola BlaK is not just a flavor extension. It is a blend of unique Coke refreshment with the true essence of coffee and has a rich smooth texture and has a coffee-like froth when poured. We believe we have created a new category of soft drink – an adult product in a carbonated beverage – and a whole new drinking experience. This brand is ideal for any part of the day when people are looking for renewed energy or simply to take a break," said Marc Mathieu, vice president, Global Core Brands, The Coca-Cola Company.
We think if you'd like to try some BlaK - try your local Target or visit BlaK online.
Europe: Senseo Mystic Valley Columbia Blend Coffee Pods
Wendy from Typical Dutch Stuff has brought to our attention new Senseo pods out in Europe. We're not sure when they'll be out in the US, but we would imagine Senseo has to release some new flavors this year and Colombia Blend coffee pods seem like a no brainer.
"Mystic Valley; Columbia Blend." I actually already saw them in Germany, but you could only buy them in combination with a machine..They should be available around May 2006, and I will be stocking them as soon as I can get my hands on them.
We want to wish everyone out egg or Nespresso capsule hunting a very happy and caffeine rich Easter weekend. Single Serve Coffee will return on Tuesday after the holiday weekend refreshed and very caffeinated with new coffee pod reviews, k-cup reviews, and other Single Serve Coffee pleasures.
Okay - so maybe you can't travel through time with this coffee mug, but we're pretty sure you'll be able to be on time. As far as we know, this is the only dishwasher safe time telling mug. Height is 7-1/4" h; Opening is 3-1/4" d., so we know it will fit the Keurig, Bunn My Cafe, and other single serve coffee machines. If you're mug is running a little fast, you can unscrew the water resistant plastic cap and pull out the clock to adjust your coffee time.
One of the things everyone here at Single Serve Coffee never expected was how big of an impact Single Serve Coffee would have on the little ones. Recently, the staff decided that though it was fun testing K-Cup and Pod coffee and letting a two year old mix in sugar and milk and do a little stirring, it might also be fun for that same two year old to have their own imaginary coffee each morning as well.
We set out on a journey to find a toy coffee maker for our Single Serve daughter and well - they all have coffee pots. Okay - we know we shouldn't be surprised they all have coffee pots, but we are Single Serve Coffee drinkers, and we like it single - not in pots.
We did happen to find an amazing little wooden set that also appeared to have a ring and in the top much like a coffee pod, and came with cream, sugar, and very nice spoon. The staff decided that this would be the perfect pot. The funny thing is what happened next SHOULD HAVE BEEN expected but of course we never saw it coming.
Upon opening the coffee set, our two year old started to pour water in the back with the coffee pot and then set it aside. Huh? Next took the coffee pod like wooden shape and put it in the top, and then put a mug right on the burner where the pot would go. She then looked up and said, "I'm making coffee. Coffee pods. K-Cups. I'm making coffee like you." So, perhaps if you're two year old has never seen a coffee pot, then you'll have a make believe Single Serve Coffee drinker.
Interested in getting your own little one started on Single Serve Coffee? Check out BabyStyle for the coffee set above. We didn't have any luck online but they may have it in their stores.

We know SingleServeCoffee.com isn't an entertainment rag but we do love our coffee and Clooney. So, when the two meet - we have to cover it. George Clooney – who has sold Martini, Budweiser and Nescafe – has defended his choice to appear in television adverts and has singled out Nespresso as, "It's really classy".
The actor explained he was not above commercials as long as they were good quality.
"You want to have a product you are proud of and not embarrassed by," he commented, saying of his latest work for Nespresso: "It's really classy."
"You don't want to do ones that aren't classy," continued the star. "That's the truth. That's the secret to it."
Clooney also revealed respect for the work that goes into adverts.
"I've never directed a commercial but I think it seems to be a lot harder to do a commercial." He said a movie gives much more time to tell a story. "A commercial has to be much more about the visual style and has to happen very quickly."
Looks like JavaPodz will be featuring new coffees soon from their findings at the SCAA (Special Coffee Association of America) conference in North Carolina. If you're not familiar with the SCAA conference, it's the largest specialty coffee conference we know of and features many exciting announcements and new products.
From JavaPodz:
We have just returned from a specialty coffee convention in North Carolina and plan to introduce some exciting new coffees, products, and packaging in the coming months.
Black & Decker Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug
Sure it doesn't use coffee pods, but it does make 15 ounces of hot coffee with the coffee grounds of your choice. The Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug claims to be great for for commuters, office professionals, and one-coffee-drinker household. The travel mug is tapered to a 2-1/2-inch-diameter bottom, so it fits most vehicle cup holders. The mug, filter, filter basket, and mug lid are dishwasher-safe, and the coffeemaker can also be used to heat water for tea, hot chocolate, and instant foods like oatmeal and soup.
Nespresso InCar Single Serve Coffee Machine Concept
What would be better than a single cup of perfect coffee or espresso in you kitchen from a single serve coffee maker? How about in your car. The 2005 Nespresso Design Contest kicked off with a call to action for European design students - consider thinking about coffee and especially Nespresso differently. Imagine paying your toll and then dialing up another Lungo? We can. The idea is that the machine fits conveniently into the centre console of a car and doubles as an armrest when travelling.
There's also a Nespresso Card concept which holds coffee preferences for registered individuals, thus enabling them to access their favorite coffee anytime, anywhere. We think we'll go with the car concept - much more interesting.
Review: FLAVIA FUSION Drink Station from Single Serve Coffee
We've been using the new FLAVIA FUSION Drinks Station for over a month now and we have one thing to say, "This machine really does make a ton of different hot drinks." It's nothing short of mind blowing the amount of different combinations you can make with the FLAVIA FUSION. After a month of trying all the drinks we have to conclude - some are very good while others are okay and nothing special, however, we feel any system that can take on single serve coffee, hot teas, iced teas, espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and other deserves some kudos right out of the box.
It's also important to note that FLAVIA has been making single serve coffee machines for the home and office even before Senseo came to the United States. Having had coffee from the Flavia S350 and the FLAVIA sB100 Drink Stations, everyone here was really excited to try the home offering, as the coffee we've had from FLAVIA in the past has not been bad at all.
What can the home FLAVIA machine make? The FLAVIA FUSION can make Coffees, Fresh Leaf Teas, LATTES, Cappuccinos, Hot Chocolate and other drinks. They even have a Wellbeing line of teas with vitamins in them. You can even mix up your own "hot cocktail" by Mixing and Matching from they're entire line of syrups and sprinkles you can purchase along with the coffee and teas. We really enjoyed the syrups to accent many of the coffees we've had over the past month. We found a little flavoring in a cup of hot Sumatra to be refreshing.
We love our Bodum Pavina Double-Wall Thermo Glasses and we're now thinking about getting another set from Bodum to have here at Single Serve Coffee for our reviews. We like the hand feel on these Assam coffee mugs and also the double wall - every time we have people over for a little coffee talk they're always impressed.
And if you want to geek out, these mugs are now the glass of choice for drinking any beverage on SciFi's Battlestar Galactica. We knew we were cutting edge around here but "in the future cutting edge"? Who knew?
This coffee table is made of korean pine wood and is finished with a light walnut stain. We love the strong square features of the overall coffee table along with the 3 inch thick top. Sections of the coffee table are also made from sections of Korean farm house floors that have been walked on for over 100 years making this an instant classic.
It looks like the Pacific Northwest is ripe for places to find new coffees for K-Cups. Keurig has announced that Coffee People--a popular gourmet coffee retailer in the Pacific Northwest--plans to introduce 3 new K-Cups and they will be available to Keurig users both in offices and at home. These new K-Cups will work in your Keurig B40, B50, and B60 brewers.
Varieties in K-Cups will include:
Black Tiger (R) --Explore the dark side with this full-bodied earthy Coffee People favorite
Wake Up Call--This full-bodied coffee kicks things off right with its rich flavor and lively finish
Coffee People Organic--Certified 100% organic, this smooth blend gives you an intense flavor with sweet overtones
Coffee People's roots in Oregon can be traced back to the Saturday Market in Eugene, OR. Small amounts of specialty grade coffee were roasted and offered for sale direct to customers. Word of mouth success at the Market led to the first Coffee People Coffeehouse being opened in 1983 in Portland. Today, 23 Coffee People Coffeehouses serve as gathering places for the most discriminating gourmet "coffee people" in the country. In 1999 Coffee People became part of the Diedrich Coffee Family (NASD: DDRX).
The entire Single Serve Coffee community recently found out that a dedicated Single Serve Coffee "evelbug" community member was going on another 3 month tour with the United States Air Force to the Middle East. We're excited to say the donated Krups Single Serve Coffee Maker and a ton of coffee pods to choose from has arrived and we've got single serve coffee being served we're thinking on the hour every hour in what evelbug calls “Café Bug”!
Update 1: I made it in here Sunday night. Once I landed, I was told that I had some packages waiting for me. It would appear that the packages you sent had beat me here. Tonight is my first night of work, so I haven’t had a chance to open them up. I will get everything set up once I get off of work today. By tomorrow, I should be able to have a nice cup of coffee to take into work with me. (Beats the industrial sludge the have here) The message board is blocked from here as I was expecting, So I’ll have to have you pass on my thanks to everyone who donated.
Update 2: As another update, I got the coffeemaker set up and Maxine’s package did arrive. I currently have about half the coffee unpacked and organized. Now, I just need to find somewhere to store the rest. (or start drinking really fast J ) Tomorrow is my day off, so I most likely won’t be able to blink. . . I’ve included a pic of “Café Bug”
Review: Senseo Cappuccino Coffee Pods from Single Serve Coffee
Do you have a Senseo single serve coffee maker and long for the taste of a great cappuccino each morning along with the amazing single serve coffee the Senseo makes? Then you may have to look a little further than the Senseo Cappuccino Coffee Pods. We aren't saying the Senseo Cappuccino Coffee Pods makes a bad cup of faux cappuccino, but it's not amazing either.
Before we get into the nitty gritty of the review - how do they make the cappuccino coffee pods for Senseo? The pod is composed of layer of coffee and powdered milk surrounded by a paper filter. The two layers mix when brewing on the double cup setting to produce a very froth heavy cup of cappuccino. You'll need to use your double coffee pod holder to brew up a Senseo cappuccino as well.
Limited Edition Bourbon Amarelo Espresso Capsules from Nespresso
The Nespresso Club has announced the latest limited coffee capsule for the Nespresso system - Bourbon Amarelo. The coffee claims to have an infinite sweet smoothness combined with an exceptional mellowness. Bourbon Amarelo is also supposed to be enjoyed in an espresso cup over making a larger Lungo coffee with it.
This is one of the more interesting coffees for a Limited Edition and the site for Bourbon Amarelo is also really interesting. You can also pair your new Bourbon Amarelo Nespresso capsules with two different limited edition cups. Interested in Nespresso?
