In the ever expanding world of Espresso, there's a lot going on over at SingleServeEspresso.com. There's news, Espresso Games
and reviews to be had. In the last couple of weeks a few reviews have popped up, one in particular is a review of the DeLonghi EC155 a low cost pump-driven espresso machine that turns out some great espresso. In the news department, we found out about a company making Red Espresso in South Africa out of Rooibos red tea. Well, check out the story, and then check out how we made our own "Red Espresso" using some locally available Rooibos tea. Finally, the review is wrapping up on the Breville ESP8XL Cafe Roma, and it will post early next week. So come on back now, you hear?

    Skyway Acrylic Coffee End Table

    Draft 922 Big

We like a movable coffee stand that can take up as little space as possible. The Skyway clear acrylic table, designed by W. Earle, measures only 20"(h) x 14"(w) x 17"(d), the piece can wrap around the raised edge of a sofa or it can be used sitting next to a chair or couch. Each Skyway table is made to order and quantities are limited.

    Seattle's Best Tassimo T Discs

    Seattlesbest Tassimo Tdiscs

We just received the latest Wired magazine, and sure enough, there are Seattle's Best Coffee Tassimo T Discs listed on the bottom of the advertisement for Tassimo. We've been hearing rumors from the Single Serve Coffee Forums, that on the back of every TassimoDirect.com receipt Tassimo listed Seattle's Best Coffee Tassimo T Discs as an option. We can now confirm this is true.

We are really excited about this news. Since Starbuck's owns Seattle's Best, perhaps this is their way of testing the single serve coffee waters. Whatever the case may be, we can't wait to try the new Seattle's Best Coffee Tassimo T Discs. We'll have more news and reviews of the Seattle's Best Coffee Tassimo T Discs as it happens.

Baronet Monster 12 gram Coffee Pods

    Spook Main New

We often use the line from Jaws when fishing, "You're going to need a bigger boat." We think the line might be adjusted to fit the 12 gram Monster Coffee Pods from Baronet, "You're going to need a bigger mug!"

CoffeeWiz.com has the House Blend Deluxe Monster Coffee pods from Baronet - a distinctive blend of Central and South American coffees. You won't have to do any more coffee pod stacking with those pesky 7 gram coffee pods, and they come packed 16 in a box. These coffee pods will work in your Senseo, Bunn My Cafe, and Krups Home Cafe single serve coffee pod brewers. We've enjoyed the Monster coffee pods in the past, and are anxious to try the new blends.

    Halloween Coffee Mugs

halloweenmugs.jpg Halloween is right around the corner. We just did a run down of some Pumpkin Spice single serve coffees in K Cups and Coffee Pod styles. Well, we need something to serve those drinks up in, and we found these Halloween Festive mugs to enjoy our coffee in. I like the one with the witch on her broom. While I would recommend a nice coffee in these, a good hot cider is a great fall classic too. Enjoy.

Glow Cap - The illuminated Lid for Standard Disposable Coffee Cups

    Large Bs518055 3

Bs518055 5The Glow Cap was created to highlight the sip hole of a beverage lid, or for single serve coffee drinkers - a coffee cup lid! We're not sure how much glow you'd get in the city (as we're in Boston), but we can remember days of growing up in rural Maine where this might come in handy. We also think this might be a killer addition to movie drink tops, as we are always wondering where the straw end or drink hole is in a darkened movie.

We're not sure when you'll see glow caps, as the site seems to be from the inventor of the Glow Cap - Brandi Samuels. Maybe after a few rounds around the blogosphere, they'll get their wish and Glow Caps will start appearing in a dark place near you.

    From the site:

Traveling between dusk and dawn means spending a good portion of time in dimly lit situations. Beverage consumption during such times can be difficult with disposable containers. The sip hole of a beverage cup lid is small and can become hard to find in the dark. Those trying to consume coffee, tea, or other hot beverages can easily spill the drink, burning themselves if incorrectly guessing the location of the sip hole. This can be a frustrating and annoying experience for consumers. The Glow Cap provides the perfect solution to this problem.

Senseo Sumatra Blend Coffee Pods Review

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod Reviews Sumatra_16ct.jpg

We've been trying various different coffee pods in our new Senseo Supreme single serve coffee maker, and we're very excited to get beyond the Senseo dark roast as our core Senseo coffee pod offering. The Senseo Sumatra blend claims to be a more bold and intense roast than it's counterparts and comes from a higher more mountainous Arabica bean. How does it stand up to it's older siblings?

Yuban Rain Forest Alliance Coffee for Tassimo

    Pop Yuban Rfa

We've been sampling the new Yuban Rainforest Alliance for Tassimo and have to say - WOW. We love the smooth body and medium roast flavor along with the rich flavor the coffee provides in each sip. We only received three T Discs of the Yuban to try, and have not shared them with any of the staff at Single Serve Coffee except for a taste from an already brewed cup.

This medium-bodied coffee is made from 100% Arabica beans and Yuban is the world's largest supporter of Rainforest Alliance certified coffee beans. This partnership protects the environment and supports the people and wildlife in coffee growing regions. They come packed 16 T DISCS per package and are only $4.99 per package and are available at Tassimodirect.com.

Jetboil Java Kit - Great Coffee in the Outdoors

    Img 3045

PcsblackfFrenchpressfWe admit to being a rather casual hiker, but we also admit to always bringing our Jet Boil stove to make a cup of soup and also water for our Preva xSport portable expresso maker. It looks like we have another option to put in our pack - a French Press from Jet Boil themselves. The featherweight Coffee Press brings civilization with you (and better yet - good coffee), even to the most uncivilized locations. Each Coffee Press includes a basket, rod, knob and multi-purpose lid and it stows securely inside the Jetboil PCS.

We'll be putting the Jetboil Java Kit through it's paces over the next two weeks on some Fall leaf viewing voyages - so stay tuned!

Revisiting the Reuseable My K Cup Coffee Filter for Keurig

Over in the Single Serve Coffe Forums there's a very cool thread about revisiting the Keurig Resuesable My K Cup. We've been putting our new Keurig B70 through the paces and also have recently been using the My K Cup with it and have to say - it makes a great cup of coffee. The best thing about having the reuseable My K Cup is the fact we get a ton of coffees sent to us in non-single serve coffee form, and we're loathe to brew a pot of coffee, so having the My K Cup around always gives us the chance to sample the different coffees we receive.

The Keurig My K-Cup reuseable coffee filter will work in the Keurig B-40 Elite, Keurig B-60 Special Edition, and Keurig B70 brewers.

Review: Nespresso Ensibuko Limited Edition Coffee Capsules

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod Reviews IMG_3038.jpg

Twice a year Nespresso offers two different limited edition coffee's for your Nespresso single serve coffee system. The new Ensibuko coffee is from Uganda and combines Arabica and Robusta coffees. We just watched the movie last night, "The Last King of Scotland" and it makes this coffee even that much more special. Uganda has been through some pretty terrible times over the past 30 years, and after such a brutal movie, it's nice to have a cup of coffee from the troubled Uganda to remind us not everything is going terribly wrong there.

The Nespresso Ensibuko Limited Edition Coffee Capsules are very rich and dark. We've been using our Nespresso C90 and doing two capsules for a larger Lungo cup of coffee. The coffee produced is also low in acid and has a very rich mouth feel. The crema is thick and creamy and we're really impressed with the overall character the coffee has.

Want to get your own Nespresso Ensibuko Limited Edition Coffee Capsules? You'll only able to get them online at Nespresso or in select Nespresso boutiques.

  • Nespresso Variations - Flavored Coffees for Nespresso

    Img 3036

We love our Nespresso C90 and look forward to the different Nespresso club exclusive coffee blends that come only twice a year. Well - the Nespresso Variations are something completely different. It's really a first for Nespresso - flavored coffees. Now flavored coffees aren't new, but they are for Nespresso.

The new Nespresso Variations come in the following flavors:

    • Absolute Vanilla Smoothness
    • Fruity, Spicy Apple and Cinnamon Fusion
    • Cool Aniseed Sensation

These flavors won't be out until Mid-November, and will only be available through the Nespresso Store online or in select Nespresso boutiques. Pricing will be $.55 a capsule or $5.50 per 10 capsule sleeve.

Best of all? We just received an entire set to review. We'll have a full review soon and can't wait to try the Cool Aniseed - as licorice is our favorite flavor. Pernod anyone?
