First released in Europe last year, the Senseo Origins coffee pods are now available in the US. We've been covering the Sumatra coffee pod launch, but now you can also get Columbia, Brazil, and Kenya blend coffee pods. We've just received the Columbia Blend for review and will be running these pods through our Senseo Supreme to see how well they fair.
We've just received word there's a new coffee pod machine in Europe marketed under the Tefal and Rowenta brand names depending on what country you purchase it in. It's called the Supremia and makes coffee with no crema for those that prefer straight black coffee. The Supremia can use 1 or 2 x 62mm pods and has a large water reservoir. It will be priced in the UK at £79.99 or as low as £53. Thanks to CafePods for sending this in.
For use with either ground coffee or any filter coffee pods (71mm).
Serves one or two cups simultaneously.
Removable 900ml water tank for easy filling.
Transparent water tank for easy water level viewing.
Removable drip tray with removable stainless steel grid.
120ml coffee serving dispensed at a touch of a button.
In the ever expanding world of Espresso, there's a lot going on over at SingleServeEspresso.com. There's news, Espresso Games and reviews to be had. In the last couple of weeks a few reviews have popped up, one in particular is a review of the DeLonghi EC155 a low cost pump-driven espresso machine that turns out some great espresso. In the news department, we found out about a company making Red Espresso in South Africa out of Rooibos red tea. Well, check out the story, and then check out how we made our own "Red Espresso" using some locally available Rooibos tea. Finally, the review is wrapping up on the Breville ESP8XL Cafe Roma, and it will post early next week. So come on back now, you hear?
We like a movable coffee stand that can take up as little space as possible. The Skyway clear acrylic table, designed by W. Earle, measures only 20"(h) x 14"(w) x 17"(d), the piece can wrap around the raised edge of a sofa or it can be used sitting next to a chair or couch. Each Skyway table is made to order and quantities are limited.
You can now sample the Senseo Sumatra Blend Coffee Pods for FREE. Simply visit the link below and fill out your name and address. You'll receive a free individually wrapped coffee pod of Sumatra Blend in about 6-8 weeks. You may want to read our recent review of the Senseo Sumatra blend coffee pods to get an idea on what to expect in the mail. The Senseo Sumatra Blend coffee pods will work in your Senseo, Bunn My Cafe, Melitta One:One, simplehuman, and Krups Home Cafe single serve coffee pod brewers.
We just received the latest Wired magazine, and sure enough, there are Seattle's Best Coffee Tassimo T Discs listed on the bottom of the advertisement for Tassimo. We've been hearing rumors from the Single Serve Coffee Forums, that on the back of every TassimoDirect.com receipt Tassimo listed Seattle's Best Coffee Tassimo T Discs as an option. We can now confirm this is true.
We are really excited about this news. Since Starbuck's owns Seattle's Best, perhaps this is their way of testing the single serve coffee waters. Whatever the case may be, we can't wait to try the new Seattle's Best Coffee Tassimo T Discs. We'll have more news and reviews of the Seattle's Best Coffee Tassimo T Discs as it happens.
CoffeeWiz.com has the House Blend Deluxe Monster Coffee pods from Baronet - a distinctive blend of Central and South American coffees. You won't have to do any more coffee pod stacking with those pesky 7 gram coffee pods, and they come packed 16 in a box. These coffee pods will work in your Senseo, Bunn My Cafe, and Krups Home Cafe single serve coffee pod brewers. We've enjoyed the Monster coffee pods in the past, and are anxious to try the new blends.
Halloween is right around the corner. We just did a run down of some Pumpkin Spice single serve coffees in K Cups and Coffee Pod styles. Well, we need something to serve those drinks up in, and we found these Halloween Festive mugs to enjoy our coffee in. I like the one with the witch on her broom. While I would recommend a nice coffee in these, a good hot cider is a great fall classic too. Enjoy.
The Glow Cap was created to highlight the sip hole of a beverage lid, or for single serve coffee drinkers - a coffee cup lid! We're not sure how much glow you'd get in the city (as we're in Boston), but we can remember days of growing up in rural Maine where this might come in handy. We also think this might be a killer addition to movie drink tops, as we are always wondering where the straw end or drink hole is in a darkened movie.
We're not sure when you'll see glow caps, as the site seems to be from the inventor of the Glow Cap - Brandi Samuels. Maybe after a few rounds around the blogosphere, they'll get their wish and Glow Caps will start appearing in a dark place near you.
From the site:
Traveling between dusk and dawn means spending a good portion of time in dimly lit situations. Beverage consumption during such times can be difficult with disposable containers. The sip hole of a beverage cup lid is small and can become hard to find in the dark. Those trying to consume coffee, tea, or other hot beverages can easily spill the drink, burning themselves if incorrectly guessing the location of the sip hole. This can be a frustrating and annoying experience for consumers. The Glow Cap provides the perfect solution to this problem.
Amazon.com has Tassimo T Discs for on average $1-3 dollars cheaper than buying direct from Tassimo or other online merchants. The Tassimo T Discs typically come in two packs priced at $14-$15 dollars, and if you buy up to $25 dollars or more shipping is FREE. That will save you another $5-10 dollars in shipping alone.
We've been trying various different coffee pods in our new Senseo Supreme single serve coffee maker, and we're very excited to get beyond the Senseo dark roast as our core Senseo coffee pod offering. The Senseo Sumatra blend claims to be a more bold and intense roast than it's counterparts and comes from a higher more mountainous Arabica bean. How does it stand up to it's older siblings?
Coffee tables for any occasion? We do believe in that. Since we routinely find a bunch of coffee tables from all over the Web, it's nice to see one site offer an impressive selection of coffee tables you can buy. Not only does All Coffee Tables have a large selection, but they also have a range of prices. Check it out - we lost over an hour just surfing through all the options.
We quite liked the Coffee Table Ottomans that we'd never even considered...
So, if you haven't heard, we're giving away some Stomping Grounds Espresso Concentrate as part of our mailing list sponsorship from them. Last month, they gave a few readers some free espresso concentrate, and we continue to get more comments in from these readers on how good the stuff is. So, don't just take our word that it's good, read some other comments from readers too (Click on the names to go to their comments):
"The flavor is fabulous, rich and sweet and the fact that you can just pull it out of the cupboard when you want a treat is great." - Ramona
"I received a sample of the vanilla flavor. I thought it was very good. I especially liked it cold over ice or as a coffee smoothie." - Bruce
Stomping Grounds Espresso Concentrate is available at their website and nationnwide at Cost Plus Markets.
We've been sampling the new Yuban Rainforest Alliance for Tassimo and have to say - WOW. We love the smooth body and medium roast flavor along with the rich flavor the coffee provides in each sip. We only received three T Discs of the Yuban to try, and have not shared them with any of the staff at Single Serve Coffee except for a taste from an already brewed cup.
This medium-bodied coffee is made from 100% Arabica beans and Yuban is the world's largest supporter of Rainforest Alliance certified coffee beans. This partnership protects the environment and supports the people and wildlife in coffee growing regions. They come packed 16 T DISCS per package and are only $4.99 per package and are available at Tassimodirect.com.
We admit to being a rather casual hiker, but we also admit to always bringing our Jet Boil stove to make a cup of soup and also water for our Preva xSport portable expresso maker. It looks like we have another option to put in our pack - a French Press from Jet Boil themselves. The featherweight Coffee Press brings civilization with you (and better yet - good coffee), even to the most uncivilized locations. Each Coffee Press includes a basket, rod, knob and multi-purpose lid and it stows securely inside the Jetboil PCS.
We'll be putting the Jetboil Java Kit through it's paces over the next two weeks on some Fall leaf viewing voyages - so stay tuned!
We remember our first cup of Community Coffee having reviewed their dark roast coffee pods over a year ago. The new New Orleans Blend Coffee & Chicory One Cup Pods from Community Coffee produce coffee with the bittersweet richness of chicory, but a with heavier-body. This type of coffee has become a New Orleans favorite and we love it too.
The New Orleans Blend Coffee & Chicory One Cup Pods from Community Coffee are individually sealed for freshness and can be used in all single-cup home brewers including your Senseo, Bunn My Cafe, Melitta One:One, and Krups Home Cafe single serve coffee pod brewers.
Over in the Single Serve Coffe Forums there's a very cool thread about revisiting the Keurig Resuesable My K Cup. We've been putting our new Keurig B70 through the paces and also have recently been using the My K Cup with it and have to say - it makes a great cup of coffee. The best thing about having the reuseable My K Cup is the fact we get a ton of coffees sent to us in non-single serve coffee form, and we're loathe to brew a pot of coffee, so having the My K Cup around always gives us the chance to sample the different coffees we receive.
Twice a year Nespresso offers two different limited edition coffee's for your Nespresso single serve coffee system. The new Ensibuko coffee is from Uganda and combines Arabica and Robusta coffees. We just watched the movie last night, "The Last King of Scotland" and it makes this coffee even that much more special. Uganda has been through some pretty terrible times over the past 30 years, and after such a brutal movie, it's nice to have a cup of coffee from the troubled Uganda to remind us not everything is going terribly wrong there.
The Nespresso Ensibuko Limited Edition Coffee Capsules are very rich and dark. We've been using our Nespresso C90 and doing two capsules for a larger Lungo cup of coffee. The coffee produced is also low in acid and has a very rich mouth feel. The crema is thick and creamy and we're really impressed with the overall character the coffee has.
Want to get your own Nespresso Ensibuko Limited Edition Coffee Capsules? You'll only able to get them online at Nespresso or in select Nespresso boutiques.
This WMF Kult coffee mug features a sleek, contemporary design in high quality stainless steel, with double-wall insulation. Made from high quality 18/10 stainless steel, the mug features a satin-finish exterior finish in keeping with a contemporary look, while the interior has a mirror shine. The black plastic on the handle will keep those nasty smudges at bay, but will also keep your hand cool when the mug is full of piping hot single serve coffee.
A good pecan pie is hard to beat, and we imagine a cup of pecan pie coffee is unbeatable! Reminiscent of a traditional southern pecan pie, a luscious blend of toasted pecans, cinnamon & sweet maple brown sugar. They come packed 18 coffee pods per box and weigh in at **9 grams. The 55mm pod will fit your Senseo, Bunn My Cafe, Melitta One:One, and Krups Home Cafe single serve coffee pod brewers.
Lots going on over at SingleServeEspresso.com - the test kitchen over there has been firing up some espresso shots and lattes and preparing a few reviews. This coming week, they'll be wrapping up the review on the Delonghi EC155, and announcing a new machine into the kitchen for review as well as welcoming some different whole bean coffees for use.
We love our Nespresso C90 and look forward to the different Nespresso club exclusive coffee blends that come only twice a year. Well - the Nespresso Variations are something completely different. It's really a first for Nespresso - flavored coffees. Now flavored coffees aren't new, but they are for Nespresso.
The new Nespresso Variations come in the following flavors:
Absolute Vanilla Smoothness
Fruity, Spicy Apple and Cinnamon Fusion
Cool Aniseed Sensation
These flavors won't be out until Mid-November, and will only be available through the Nespresso Store online or in select Nespresso boutiques. Pricing will be $.55 a capsule or $5.50 per 10 capsule sleeve.
Best of all? We just received an entire set to review. We'll have a full review soon and can't wait to try the Cool Aniseed - as licorice is our favorite flavor. Pernod anyone?
With a simple geometric form, the Steppe coffee table has two levels of storage. It's made from solid oak and is available in espresso (shown) or natural finishes. The table is square, at 32'' x 32'' x 15''(h), and is exactly square. We think this coffee table works really well in tight corner spaces or as the center of attention.
Café-Razzi has sent us the Lavazza Blue single serve coffee system and we've really been enjoying it. The Lavazza Blue is really called the "Pininfarina Pro" and is designed with a patented brewing mechanism to match the coffee capsules and assures a perfect cup each time. The machine makes both coffee drinks and espresso based drinks.
Café-Razzi is currently the premier distributor of the Lavazza Blue system and features a coffee club that has a 30 day free trial. We've made a bunch of different coffee drinks including: espresso, cappuccino, and of course a nice tasty cup of single serve coffee. How does the Lavazza Blue hold up?
Senseo has a new single serve coffee maker and we've been using it now for over a week. The Senseo Supreme Single Serve Coffee Machine in Metallic Chrome definitely has some improvements over it's older Senseo sibling. We like the new platform for the cups and drip tray. The adjustable spout is also nice, as we can now fit more coffee cups under the spout for single serve coffee brewings. We like the blue LED touches, but we're not sold on the adjustable cup size and no clock on top of the new model. Why not both? We'll have a full review soon.
We have really been enjoying these double-walled coffee cups from Bodum over the past few months for doing reviews of new single serve coffees and coffee machines. The coffee seems suspended in mid air, and the best part? Add a little cream and sugar and you can really create a whirling storm of coffee flavored fun. It's like you've created a coffee tornado! We've put a little video together for you, so you can see the double-walled coffee cups in action.
Yes. It's a mad mad mad world. We have received from our good friend Jim Evans at CoffeeWhiz.com - not one - not two - but six different pumpkin spice coffees to try. Three of the coffees are for your single serve coffee maker that uses coffee pods and will work in your Senseo, Bunn My Cafe, and Krups Home Cafesingle serve coffee pod brewers. The pumpkin spice coffee pods are from: Baronet Coffee, Reunion Island Coffee Pods, and Melitta's One: One JavaPods.
We've been testing the Keurig Platinum B70 K Cup Single-Cup Brewer along side it's older cousin the Keurig B60 brewer for over 2 weeks and find the two cousins to be refreshingly different. What's different from the Keurig Platinum B70 K Cup Single-Cup Brewer compared with the B40, B50, and comparable B60? Basically, a smaller footprint, larger reservoir and reduced noise during brewing. It also features 4 programmable cup sizes versus 3 on the Keurig B60, the largest topping out at a whopping 11.25 oz, which is enough to fill just about any travel mug with lots of coffee.
So readers had a bunch of questions we needed to answer:
Is it really more quiet than the older models?
How much of a difference does the larger reservoir make?
Were there other changes you like or didn't like?
How is the coffee compared to the B60 or B50?
Did you like the larger brew size option of 11.25 oz?
We're pretty sure a hint has been thrown to our sugar mess we leave each morning after brewing our morning cups of single serve coffee. If you didn't know, one of our fellow Blogpire blogs is written by Maya Bazar, and it's called Kitchen Contraptions. Okay Maya - we get the hint. Less mess for you to deal with in the morning if we use the Automatic Sugar Dispenser.
Being married to the proprietor of Single Serve Coffee, we always have sugar all over our counter. This is a cool way to avoid the mess of a sugar bowl. It automatically dispenses sugar at the touch of a button. One touch dispenses half a teaspoon. It holds a quarter pound of sugar.
We recently visited the Keurig offices and had the pleasure of getting to use the new Keurig B200 commercial brewer. We really like the clear controls and think this would look excellent in any small to mid size office. It's got a slew of new features including back to back brewing and a new LED screen. It really looks like a much larger Keurig B70. You won't be able to order this for your home, it's available for offices only, but we can all dream our boss will pick this coffee system over some crazy drip coffee maker or service.
A sleek, upscale and modern design that will grace any office
Pourover or direct water line plumbed capability
An attractive LCD user interface that walks first-time users through the brew process--programmable in English (default), French, or Spanish!
Choice of two brew options: regular 8 oz. or a more robust 6 oz.
Unlimited back to back brewing every 60 seconds. In pourover mode, the brewer will brew back to back until the 64 oz. water tank is empty. In plumbed mode users get unlimited back to back brewing every minute with no lengthy reheat delay.
A modular vending accessory kit -- converts to a vend unit with a simple panel change
Distributor menu controls -- Distributors can set service phone number, vending options, and obtain important diagnostic information.
On our recent visit to Keurig, several of the team members turned us back onto the new Tully's French Roast K-cups for your Keurig single serve coffee maker. We reviewed the Tully's French Roast coffee when it was in pre-release, and didn't get to have more than a few cups.
We can say now, after getting two packs of the K-Cups - they're still excellent. The Tully's French roast has a very smokey and interesting flavor and perhaps one of the best tasting french roast coffee's we've had in K-Cup form. The roast produces an almost chocolate like flavor, and when milk and sugar are added, it really lives up to anything you'd get at Starbuck's for a darker roast.
Since we don't have Tully's coffee stores here in the Northeast, we're all dying to try the Tully's French Roast right from a Tully's store, but for now will have to settle for drinking it at home with our new Keurig B70.
We just received the new Senseo Supreme single serve coffee maker and now we've got a ton of the new Senseo Sumatra coffee pods to review as well. We're very excited to try these out (okay so we've had a few cups already) and see how they hold up against the other Senseo coffee pods. Expect a full review soon!
Introducing Senseo Sumatra Blend! This new gourmet coffee pod from Senseo coffee is bold and intense due to a premium blend of Arabica beans selected from the mountainous regions Sumatra and some of the finest coffee regions in the world.
New Senseo Sumatra Blend can be purchased now at www.senseostore.com, Amazon.com, and very soon at other online retailers. Also available in select grocery stores.
