Only available right now in Europe, the NESPRESSO Siemens by Porsche Design is a pretty stellar design for an espresso machine. You can create your own Espresso, Lungo, Macchiato, Cappuccino in this Porsche designed Nespresso machine. Though the style is different, the NESPRESSO Siemens by Porsche Design looks like it might have the guts of the Nespresso Romeo available here in the US. We loved the Romeo when we reviewed it, and we hope the NESPRESSO Siemens by Porsche Design makes it to US shores for a better design alternative.
NESPRESSO Siemens by Porsche Design Features:
High-pressure pump (19 bar)
Thermoblock heating element
Automatic cup volume control (Espresso, Lungo, Macchiato, Cappuccino)
Automatic insertion and ejection of capsule
Digital display in 8 languages
New steam pipe with integrated Cappuccino - Caffelatte function
Automatic cool down after steam function usage
Aluminium condenser to avoid steam emission during cool down
Collection container for used capsules (10-12 capsules)
Inbuilt electronic warning sound, which indicates when the collection container for used capsules is full
Inbuilt electronic warning sound, which indicates when the water tank requires refilling

Review: Fratello Coffee Pods for Senseo, Bunn My Cafe, and other Coffee Pod Brewers
We've sampled all of the Fratello coffee pods we received for review over the past week. We picked up a sampler pack by ordering from the Coffee Artisan which comes with five different pods for $2.49. If you don't know that much about Fratello, Fratello has been roasting coffee since 1985, so that gives them a little north of 20 years of experience to put into their coffee pods.
Coffee Pods in Fratello Coffee Pod sampler pack:
French Saigon Dark- This popular blend is a sure fire hit for those who love the smoky taste of a dark roast. Never bitter. 100%
Columbian Supremo - Premium Colombian coffee - full in flavor. A classic cup of coffee.
Columbian Natural Decaf Colombian - Coffee with heady aroma and mellow flavor. - Swiss Water Decaf Process with no chemical aftertaste.
French Vanilla - An exceedingly smooth Bourbon Vanilla - one of the worlds most popular.
Costa Rican Organic Fair Trade - Strictly high-grown coffee that produces a distinctive brew with vibrant flavor & rich undertones.
Mr. Coffee Simple Brew Coffeemaker SL13 - Use Ground Coffee or Coffee Pods
We were visiting out local target this past week and happened upon the new Mr Coffee SL13 Simple Brew Coffeemaker. It claims on side of the package to be able to use ground coffee or coffee pods. Wow. We took a look at the coffee pod filter and maybe it will work.
It's got a very small footprint, and since you can use tea pods and coffee pods, this is a good choice for anyone looking to get a pod brewer at under $40 and get the most variety of hot beverage choices for you single serve dollar.
In the past Mr. Coffee put out their coffee pod machines under the Home Cafe brand, and we always though over the Black and Decker models - the Mr. Coffee Home Cafe coffee pod brewers were much better. We took a variety of pictures and have the full specs. What's interesting is this little brewer can brew up to a 14 oz cup of single serve coffee using coffee pods? How does it taste? We'll have to do a full review to tell.
How do you Store your Keurig K Cups, Nespresso Capsules, and Coffee Pods?
There's a pretty amazing set of threads in the Single Serve Coffee Forums on how to make a mess of those pesky K Cups and other single serve coffee pods, nespresso capsules, and gadgets. We simply have a large pantry that we put most things on shelves, or we use small bowls to store our Nespresso capsules. Whatever you do - see what's being done by other Single Serve Coffee Forums members and perhaps you have a technique or tip to add.
I got a Keurig B50 from Costco two weeks ago, and set it up in my kitchen. Between the 18-packs that came with that and some 5-packs and 25-packs I ordered from Keurig, I had a storage mess on my hands; you can't get into the 18-packs when they're stacked, and I didn't have enough counter space to leave them all out.
I went shopping at the big-box mall, and found the Sterilite #2003 Small Countertop Drawer unit at Target. Each unit's about 7" high, 7" wide and 8" deep and they stack. 3 drawers per unit are just barely deep enough to hold 9 K-cups each when arranged just so; the Tully's cups bulge on top and I have to be careful with opening and closing their drawers! I've filled each drawer with a different variety or an assortment of singles. The remaining 5-packs will sit nicely on top. I have the 25-packs and a bin of loose K-cups from the 18-packs under a counter on the other side of the kitchen, and I'll refill the drawers from there when they get empty. Now I can see what I've got when I'm getting going in the morning.
New Colors for Nespresso Essenza Espresso Machines
We recently attended the Nespresso launch of the Nespresso Lattissima from Nespresso and DeLonghi, and we're pleasantly surprised to see the launch of new colors from Nespresso for their popular Nespresso Essenza models. You can read reviews of the Nespresso Essenza C100T model from us here at Single Serve Coffee and over at Single Serve Espresso.
Coffee Giant and Keurig sent us packages of the new K Cups from Caribou coffee for your Keurig Elite B40 Brewer, Keurig B50, Keurig Special Edition Ultra Elite B60, and the Keurig B70 Brewer. Caribou Coffee offers 8 new varieties of coffee in K-Cup Portion Packs. Don't know that much about Caribou Coffee? The first Caribou Coffee store opened on the corner of France Avenue and 44th Street in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1992. Today, Caribou Coffee still calls Minneapolis home, but has grown to more than 465 stores across the central and eastern U.S. It is the second largest, company-owned, gourmet coffeehouse operator in the U.S. based on the number of coffeehouses.
French Roast - Dark - Bittersweet flavor with a smooth, heavy body.
Caribou Blend - Medium - This signature blend balances a big-bodied, syrupy taste with a clean, snappy finish.
Sumatra - Dark - Syrupy, sweet rich body and cedarwood spice notes.
Fair Trade - Medium - Caramel sweetness with deep grape and pecan notes and a note of a crisp, chardonnay finish characterize this sustainable blend.
Daybreak Morning Blend - Light - Light, fruity blend that has a slightly nutty finish.
Colombia - Light - This coffee is full of sweet caramel flavors, smooth roasted nut notes, and delicate floral nuances.
Sumatra Decaf - Dark - Syrupy, sweet rich body and cedarwood spice notes.
Caribou Blend Natural Decaf - Medium - This signature blend balances a big-bodied, syrupy taste with a clean, snappy finish.
We are a more of a "half-full" kind of web site here at Single Serve Coffee, but in our daily lives we like to have a more laid back sarcastic approach to living. If you think a clear mug with such a phrase warrants a good laugh or smirk, then this mug may be for you. The classic phrase "this glass is now half-empty" is screen-printed on the basic mug ($9.95) and etched onto the executive model ($19.95). We'd go with the etching over the print, as we think most printed mugs wear out over time - or do they? The best part of trying to purchase such a mug? It's only available at Despair.com.
Gerry Mueller has won the Keurig B60 Special Edition single serve brewer. Gerry visits our sites each day to get the latest coffee device news and info. Gerry is also very excited to win the Keurig B60 so he can take it to his office and have some decent coffee during the day.
Thanks again to everyone who signed up and we'll be giving away more mailing list prizes very soon.
Nespresso "FASHION" Espresso Machine in "CRYSTAL COUTURE"
In line with Europe's fashion and design trends for 2007, Nespresso, has added serious sparkle to its award-winning Essenza coffee machine models. The result: two fashion-forward coffee machines with 'bodies' covered in Swarovski crystals: the Nespresso Limited Edition Brilliant Black Essenza and the Nespresso Limited Edition Sparkle Pink Essenza.
Limited Edition machines are designed to shine at exclusive charity events and Nespresso boutiques around the world. In addition to being a shining focus for charity and special events, 100 Limited Edition Sparkle Pink and 100 Limited Edition Brilliant Black Essenza machines will be available, while supplies last, at the Nespresso Boutique Bar (761 Madison Avenue, New York City). Both bejeweled models will retail for $1,000.
Nespresso Lattissima - One Touch Cappuccinos and Lattes
Yesterday, Nespresso and DeLonghi unveiled the next generation of espresso meets cappuccino and latte machines - the Nespresso Lattissima. The Nespresso Lattissima features a "one touch" fresh milk froth function, allowing you to make a latte or cappuccino with just one push of a button. We witnessed the Nespresso Lattissima in person and got to sample the cappuccino and latte drinks it produced - verdict - amazing.
Because the Nespresso Lattissima uses fresh milk the difference in the quality of the latte or cappuccino is staggering. The Nespresso Lattissima also features an "auto clean" function, and the milk reservoir detaches from the machine so you can keep it nice and cool in the fridge for the next cappuccino or latte you make. Another cool feature is the adjustable cup platform, which allows you to use a tall latte glass or a traditional coffee cup. The Nespresso Lattissima will be priced at $799 for the satin chrome with cup warmer, and $699 for red or black sans the cup warmer and will be out Fall 2007.
Full details and video of the Nespresso Lattissima after the jump.
Keurig K Cup Single Serve Coffee Maker Reviews, News, and Info
The Keurig has been a staple of the single serve coffee world for over 5+ years. The staff here at Single Serve Coffee have featured many articles and reviews on the Keurig line of single serve coffee makers, and the k cups which deliver amazing single serve coffee each day. We've done a Review of the Keurig B50, B60, B70, and even the Keurig B100. We've also featured Keurig K Cup Reviews and News. We've even done an entire set of reviews for the Keurig Reuseable K Cup Filter where you can use your own coffee for the Keurig single serve coffee maker.
Here's a run down of the best Keurig articles, reviews, news, and links we've featured:
Must Read Keurig K Cup Single Serve Coffee Maker Reviews:
“Bean” me up! Add one more to the list of exotic javas: Space Coffee. On June 2, a quarter-pound of coffee beans will be carried to the edge of space.
The spacecraft will be a high altitude balloon, and the beans will ascend to an altitude of 20 miles. This is high enough for the sky to turn black and the horizon to be a blue curve. The coffee beans will be exposed to extremes of cold, vacuum, and cosmic rays, and at the end of the mission, the vehicle carrying the coffee will descend to Earth by parachute.
We're not sure where the coffee will land, but maybe we could get some of those amazing space beans to create the perfect cup of single serve coffee...maybe...
We'll be traveling down to New York to the Nespresso Boutique for the launch of the Nespresso Lattissima on Thursday morning. The Nespresso® Lattissima combines a Nespresso espresso maker with a one-touch fresh milk froth function. We can't wait to try out all the interesting lattes, cappuccinos, and other Nespresso meets De’Longhi drinks this new machine will make, and we're pretty sure this is the single serve coffee machine we've all been waiting for for those of us obsessed with the perfect froth.
In addition to making the perfect espresso or lungo, the newest Nespresso machine features a one-touch fresh milk froth function, which enables coffee aficionados to create cappuccino or latte coffees at the touch of a button. The one-touch cappuccino system provides the optimal combination of steam, milk and air to create milk froth with perfect consistency. For additional convenience, the one-touch option also features an auto-rinsing function, which enables users to easily clean the tubes used for milk foam preparation, thereby preventing milk particles from remaining inside the system. The removable 17-ounce milk container is a new feature that can be conveniently stored in the refrigerator.
We've been trying to find a more Summer looking travel mug for our coffee and we think the Copco 16oz Jazz Thermal Travel Mug might be it. We like the nubbly dimples for gripping on the side, and we think the double walled construction with a stainless steel liner should keep our single serve summer coffee hot or cold. It also has a really nice non-slip base and the mixture of shiny and matte textures should keep up our design in mind like appearance.
You may remember our review of the Nespresso Essenza C90 in 2005, and you may even remember how much we loved this amazing little espresso and single serve coffee machine. What does the new Nespresso C100T Essenza Single-Serve Automatic Espresso Machine offer over it's older sibling and what's the same? In a nut shell - the Nespresso C100T Essenza Single-Serve Automatic Espresso Machine is a really nice update to an already great Nespresso machine. The price point is a bit higher than the older model, but this is a very affordable Nespresso machine at just over $220 in most places online and offline, and the new features are worth the extra money.
Since the main features of the machine and it's appeal are present in our older review, we're going to focus on the updates to the machine and why you might want to consider this as one of the machines in your single serve coffee arsenal. We're also going to give you the impressions of several new Nespresso drinkers who we introduced the machine to at a dinner party recently to get new insights and feedback.
We recently traveled to the fabled land of Philadelphia to visit the people who make the Flavia Fusion Drinks Station and other Flavia products. We were treated to an entire four hour tour, but we actually have returned. What's happening at Flavia? What's new? There's too much to tell today, but we did see the new FLAVIA® Creation 400™ drinks station, and we got a tour of the plant. Yep - we got to see how they keep the coffee fresh before it's packed into the Flavia filterpack.
We've even got a shot or two of the amazing user interface/experience of the FLAVIA® Creation 400™ drinks station.
Three Years and Even Stronger - Happy Birthday Single Serve Coffee!
Can you believe it's been 3 years since we launched Single Serve Coffee? We can't. We would have never imagined writing over 1000+ articles on Single Serve Coffee back in May of 2004, and we wouldn't have believed how we could possible grow the site to the size it is. We've increased in page views, site visitors, and have grown the Single Serve Coffee forums to included over 2000+ members and 27,000+ articles.
We want want to thank our readers who without you this wouldn't have happened. You come visit us each day and comment on our articles, help new people find their way, and also send us in great tips and tricks. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
We'd also like to thank our advertisers. Without advertising on the site we just couldn't do this everyday. As we've grown, so has the cost of operating such a big site with lots of pages and lots of visitors. Thanks to advertising, we can pay to continue to operate and expand the site. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
So lift your coffee mug and shout, "Viva la Single Serve Coffee!" Here's to a long Single Serve Coffee life and another great year!
Quick Coffee Picks: Timothy's World Coffee Extra Bold Fair Trade Wiwili K-Cups
To think it's been over 2 years that we've been drinking the Wiwili K-Cups from Timothy's! Wow. We love this coffee and find the medium roasted Wiwili always picks us up in the morning. The Wiwili is a pure origin coffee and contains approximately 25% more coffee than your standard Fair Trade Wiwili K-Cups. The result is a stronger, bolder taste. This coffee is Fair Trade Certified, which will ensure that the coffee farmers will receive a fair price for their coffee. This enables the farmers to live with dignity and invest in their families, communities and the environment.
This press release is more of an idea than an actual product, but the idea of owning a coffee machine that can read our single serve coffee mind is exactly what the next Keurig, Nespresso, or Flavia Fusion needs. Developed by JL Hufford, the "super automatic coffee machine" will be able to learn your coffee-drinking patterns so any time you crave a cup of joe, it'll have your favorite drink waiting for you.
Anyone remember the Weebles? These espresso cups have a round bottom that keeps them upright so they wobble but they won't fall down. So, if you're a Nespresso owner, or perhaps you just want to get that coffee lover in your life something different, these espresso cups are for you.

We'll be totally honest - we don't usually cover too much whole bean or ground coffee here at Single Serve Coffee, but when we found out about the new David Lynch coffee, we just had to mention it. We're BIG David Lynch fans around here, enjoying anything David Lynch, and really liking the dirty confusion one feels after watching one of his movies or TV shows. We can now only imagine the single serve coffee madness when drinking a cup of David Lynch coffee. "Yeah - I think I can see some little man in my cup of coffee talking backwards...hmmm....yes...I'm about to pass out..."
