These three items will get you familiar with the world of Single Serve Coffee.

Baronet Coffee has received a great number of requests from their valued customers to create a pod that will fit in the Senseo. They've been working on this project for some time, and recently completed the installation of equipment that will allow them to create pods that are specifically designed for the Senseo.
These pods come in a bag in the same way the Senseo pods are packaged. These new pods contain the perfect amount of coffee to fit one pod in the single holder of the Senseo to brew 4 oz, or two pods in the double holder to brew 8 oz. Rather than traveling all the way across the Atlantic, Baronet pods are roasted and packed fresh right here in the USA. All of our pods are made with the highest quality, 100% Arabica beans available. Packing pods in a bag allows for a substantial reduction in packaging material, reducing landfill waste and making pods increasingly more environmentally friendly.
They are currently offering ten varieties, and will continue to expand their selection in this new product to make sure they have something for everyone. These pods are available now, and for those customers who currently enjoy their individually wrapped 10 gram and Mega pods, have no fear. Baronet will continue to carry all of their current varieties, and add new flavors and origins to those lines as well.

Hamilton Beach Stay or Go Thermal Coffeemaker - Micro Batch Brewing
Okay - so not so single serve coffee, but can you see the size of that thermal carafe? It's merely enormous! It's somewhat huge!
Scott over at Single Serve Espresso spotted this wonder at Target (picture below). The Hamilton Beach Thermal Stay or Go Coffee maker can make 10 cups or coffee, or you can make 1-4 cups of coffee in smaller micro brews. You also get all three thermal carafe/mugs with the brewer.
3 ways to brew
10 cup insulated thermal stainless steel carafe
2 stainless steel thermal travel mugs
Programmable clock/timer
Automatic shutoff
Small batch mode optimizes coffee flavor when brewing 1-4 cups or into mugs
We really think if you're going to put the money down on a machine that does it all - check out the Nespresso Lattissima. We love the one touch cappuccinos and lattes, and the espresso and coffee produced from the machine is excellent. The Lattissima also comes in a variety of cool colors, and it's been a welcome addition to any coffee lovers kitchen for over 2 years.
We also think you might want to purchase two single serve coffee makers to get the most amazing coffee experiences like the Bosch Tassimo Hot Beverage System and the Nescafe Dolce Gusto. Why not have two? If you're willing to spend over $500 you should get the widest possible range of single serve coffee options, and while you're at it throw in a Keurig Mini.
Green Mountain Coffee and Keurig In Grocery Stores Nationwide - 12 Count Pack of K Cups Debuts
Green Mountain Coffee and Keurig have debuted the Keurig Classic Brewer and 12 count packs of K-Cups at grocery stores nationwide here in the US. The “Keurig Classic” Brewer is only sold at grocery stores. It looks a lot like the original B40, but has 6/8oz brew sizes, improved water injection needle, H2O filter compatible, and some visual differences. The 12-count box of K-Cups®, will be available in ten different varieties of coffee, including Fair Trade Certified™ and organic offerings. The 12-count packaging is specifically designed to fit on supermarket shelves.
All of this is great news for anyone looking to pick up a few K-Cups at their local grocer, and we think this will really help to explode the growth of single serve coffee nationwide.
With the new Star Trek movie coming out in the Spring we're pretty sure you're going to need to upgrade your coffee cup to a plasma one. After the upgrade, your current double walled glass mugs are also going to look pretty old Trek. The Plasma Mug and coaster works as you would expect - you simply place the mug on the stand and plasma flows around the beverage within trapped in the glass walls of the coffee cup. The light emitted by the mug won't affect the beverage in it, and you also don't have to worry about any warp core breaches. The Plasma Cup can be bought for $19,99.
The big factor for choosing one machine over the other for most people writing in is price. Both machines are in similar price range - the Bosch Tassimo Hot Beverage System is $139.99 and the Nescafe Dolce Gusto is $169.99, and we can understand why this could be a big factor. The price per single serve coffee cup is also similar, with both machines at the $.50 for a single cup of coffee and the milk based drinks coming in at about $1.00.
As we stated above price is usually a big factor, but we always go on taste and coffee preference. Both machines make very tasty cups of almost all of the hot beverages you would want in a multi-hot beverage system.
coffee, tea, espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and hot chocolate.
The Nescafe Dolce Gusto can also make a large variety of drinks including the following:
lungo coffee (larger cup of espresso based coffee), espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and hot chocolate (iced drinks as well)
The big number to think about is also the total number of drinks available. The Nescafe Dolce Gusto has 8 different types of smart capsules you can purchase for it all under the Nescafe coffee brand. The Bosch Tassimo Hot Beverage System has 40+ coffees, teas, and other drinks it can make including coffee from well known brands such as Starbuck's Coffee and Seattle's Best. So if you just picked on the number of drinks the Tassimo is clearly going to give you more choice, but we also always pick on flavor as well.
Coffee Cup Recycle Bin - Save That Spent Coffee for Plants
Meant to remind you to recycle, this trash bin is perfect for a countertop waste bin to catch those coffee pods and spent K-Cups. You can then take the spent coffee pods and K Cups and dump the coffee out into your garden, house plants, or compost pile. The coffee cup trash bin is 30cm tall and will cost you $20.
Keurig B70 - Single Serve Coffee Evolution Commercial
We just found out about this 30 second commercial from Keurig that you'll be seeing this holiday season on TV. In just 30 seconds the commercial really wraps up the single serve coffee experience. You might also want to share the video with non-single serve coffee drinkers to show them what they're missing.
Review: Timothy's Trans Fat Free Creamy Hot Chocolate, White Hot Chocolate and Chai Latte Pouches
We know some of you may not consider powdered mix pouches to be something fitting of the single-serve coffee market, but as was proven in the past by Keurig with Ghirardelli pouches, the fact that you can get pre-measured cups of hot water instantly from any of their machines allowed them to sell such items amongst their usual K-Cup varieties.
Timothy's also offers their own varieties of powdered mixes and have decided to further improve these offerings by making them 100% trans fat free. In today's health-conscious World, it's nice to see we can now enjoy Timothy's Creamy Hot Chocolate, White Hot Chocolate and Chai Latte without any of the guilt.
As noted above, you can use your Keurig machine to mix the contents of these pouches with hot water, but Timothy's recommends using hot milk (or any similar substitute) for better results. Trust us, go with the milk... more on that in a bit.
Café-Razzi has just introduced Lavazza Tierra in an espresso capsule. Lavazza Tierra! is a sustainable development project aimed at combining product quality with improved living conditions for some small scale coffee- growing communities. This is achieved by providing them with modern coffee-growing equipment and the right instruments to cultivate and market coffee by means of environmentally-friendly techniques. The new capsule has been dubbed the "green capsule" not because of it's color but because of it's mission Tierra! Is Rainforest Alliance Certified.
Tierra! is an excellent, 100% Arabica product characterized by aromatic notes and a floral sweetness. Made using the green coffees from farming communities that produce prized coffees bearing exotic, far-off names: Yanesha of Nagazu (Alto Churrumazu - Peru), La Fortuna (Cusuco Park - Honduras) and Villa Esperanza (Huila Valley - Colombia) to name a few.
Coffee Beanery Co Ltd, a supplier of coffee beans in Bangkok for almost six decades, hopes to sell three million cups of coffee under its new "ground coffee cup" concept. The new product to be launched next month helps consumers not worry about the price of fresh coffee and having to grind it. Can you say single serve coffee in a coffee cup?
How does it work? The 25-baht cup contains ground coffee along with a filter, sugar and creamer. That means the only thing that the cup doesn't come with is hot water. The filter is imported from Japan, and the double-wall cup makes it easy to hold. There are similar products in the market around Bangkok, but none exactly like the Zolito cup.
The beans are Arabica and two blends are available: dark roast and medium roast. The cups are available at convenience stores, service station mini-marts, and supermarkets.
We'll let you know if these cups make their way stateside. Hopefully the cup, and filter, and contents are recyclable.
We don't often cover drinks that Starbucks creates, but this one is different. After discovering this drink over at Kettle&Cup, we set out to have a sip or two of their new Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate ourselves. The results are breathtaking - and between each sip is both a feeling of guilt (not wanting to share a sip with anyone) and true foodie delight. We found a recipe over at Kettle&Cup to make one at home too.
This delicious sweet and salty combination brings together our rich, indulgent Signature Hot Chocolate and the flavors of buttery caramel and smoked sea salt. It is topped with whipped cream, a swirl of caramel and a sprinkle of our sea salt topping - a combination of artisan sea salt and Turbinado sugar from Hawaii.
Do you have any ideas on how to make the Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate at home to save money? We think the Tassimo might do this with ease or even the Krups Nescafe Dolce Gusto provided you can score the smokey salt and whipped cream, along with the drizzle of caramel. Let us know if you have a home recipe and we'll post it up.
Review: Aeroccino Plus Automatic Home Milk Frother from Nespresso
The Aeroccino Plus is a larger version of the Aeroccino that also allows you to override the heating function if you wish to froth milk without heating. The cost for the Aeroccino Plus is $129 versus $99 on the smaller Aeroccino (read our review of the earlier Aeroccino here). The reason any single serve coffee drinker would want to get an Aeroccino is the need for frothed milk for those latte and capuccino drinks you might want to make at home to save a few dollars. We used the Aeroccino Plus in this review with the new Essenza Touch and our Nespresso Essenza C100T.
The Aeroccino won't make the same frothed milk as a high end espresso machine, but it will make a very thick-rich frothed cup of hot or cold milk. The Aeroccino Plus is also larger than the earlier version, and this allows you to make enough milk for 2+ drinks depending on what your making.
How does it work? To produce warm frothed milk, heating the milk to temperatures between 140-149°F/60-65°C, quickly press the button once. To override the heating function, press the button for two full seconds.
The season is almost upon us, and if you're looking for a coffee with a breath of fresh air - you're going to love the Gloria Jean's Sleigh Ride K Cup Coffee. Each cup has the taste of white chocolate mint, and the result is a very crisp coffee flavor. Each box of Gloria Jean's Sleigh Ride K Cup Coffee comes has 25 K-Cups.
We've found this really interesting post in the Single Serve Coffee Forums on how to make Sun Coffee with coffee pods. We've often wondered if this would work, and according to the creator named "Jar" the results seem to be really worth the wait.
Okay, beginning the experiment. Using a Ziplock Screw cap container with 3 cups of water and three Fratello Mocha Java pods. Call the time 9:30am. I will try to take pictures along the way.
Get Out and Vote - Declare Your Single Serve Coffee Choice
