The Sun Cafe single cup pod brewer makes coffee one cup at a time, and its patented pod drawer works with a wide variety of pods, allowing you to choose your favorite coffee or tea. Innovative extraction system brings out the full range of the coffee or tea for a perfectly balanced cup, and the brewer comes with a variety pack of Kienna Coffee pods.
We've said before in other articles on the Sun Cafe coffee pod brewer that the look and design is the same as the Simplehuman coffee pod brewer - well they do look the same, the coffee extraction and updates make this a totally new brewer that makes an excellent cup of coffee.
It's very shiny and very stainless all at the same time.
We love the blue light on the oz indicator.
We just got a box of the Brazil Daterra Sweet Blue coffee pods, and we have to say - wow. Not only did these coffee pods deliver on their sweet promise, but they had rich chocolate and orange notes as well. The acid factor here is low, and we like the reference to Kenyan coffee in the description, but think this coffee stands alone.

Take A Single Serve Coffee Break Before Your Next Job Interview
According to a study we found over at the Consumerist - arriving early to a job interview is just about as bad as missing it or being late. Their advice? Take a coffee break or perhaps a single serve coffee break and get there on time instead of early.
Sure, we all know that it's as disastrous to arrive late for a job interview as it is to submit your resume written in crayon. But have you ever thought about what happens if you arrive early? According to resume consultant Adam Sterling, arriving early disrupts your interviewers' schedules and creates tension.
Review: Van Houtte Pecan Praline K-Cups for Keurig
Visit any Canadian grocery store and you're bound to see a huge Van Houtte display full of various flavored coffees where you can select the whole beans and grind them yourself right there in the store. They even have flavors which have yet to appear in K-Cup format and our past experience has shown that their flavored coffees usually have a decent, strong flavoring to them. We were hoping this would follow through to their K-Cups (their Apple Crumble K-Cup was rather good) but such was not to be the case.
We chose the 5.25oz brew size to extract the full flavors on our Keurig B70 and were wondering if perhaps we had forgotten to hit the brew button. Hmm... nope, the coffee's dispensing. Maybe we put in one of their unflavored K-Cups by mistake? Nope... so what the heck was going on here? We tried again with another K-Cup and soon realized that there was barely any scent coming from this flavored variety. Weird indeed. Using the "wine swirl" technique, we tried to uncover any hidden scents in the bottom of the glass but all we could detect was a very faint hint of pecans.

You can purchase this coffee cup for $9.99 from , and then you'll be all set to pollute your week moving forward.

Top 10 Best Selling Single Serve Coffee Makers - July 2009
It's July and Summer is finally upon us, and so is our Top 10 Best Selling Single Serve Coffee Makers list. Keurig is now dominating all the top slots, and you'll notice the Senseo single serve coffee pod brewer is now missing from the list. Why? There are no Senseos available at retail that we can find because of their product recall. This has also made the very old brewer - Home Cafe come back into the top 10.
Do you think these coffee makers represent the best selling or the best? What single serve coffee makers do you think should make a best of list regardless of sales? Sound off in the comments and let us know.
We often feel the need to warn anyone in our general area to let us finish our first cup of single serve coffee in the morning or BACK OFFF! Now with a set of coffee knuckles on the table they'll listen good. The mug is a mix of metal knuckles (we hope they make a brass version) and a curvy ceramic coffee mug. We love the concept, and think this will make an amazing gift this Fall when the Fisticup is available.
Review: Van Houtte Sumatra Mandheling K-Cups for Keurig
Van Houtte have started amassing a small collection of single-origin K-Cups over the past few years and have blended beans from these origin locations around the World with their own quality Arabica beans. This time, we decided to try a taste of Indonesia by sampling the Van Houtte Sumatra Mandheling K-Cups.
Upon brewing, you get the rich, earthy scent typical of a dark roast but closer inspection reveals ever the slightest hint of dark chocolate. Tasting was rather unique as there was some acidity present but it wasn't as strong as some other bold varieties we've tried in the past. This was almost bordering the beginnings of an espresso but without the harsh bitterness. Slightly tangy notes at times helped liven things up. You could tell this wasn't your average run of the mill dark roast.
We have a rotisserie for our grill, and never thought about perhaps roasting some coffee using the rotisserie method. The Coffee Roaster Kit roasts up to 5 Pounds of Green Coffee Beans, almost as much as many Commercial Units. The Coffee Roaster Kit comes fully assembled and ready to go. It fits inside of your Home Barbeque unit and attaches to your existing Rotisserie unit. Complete operating and roasting instructions included, along with 1/2 cup unroasted green coffee beans to start you off. We think it's going to be a hard trade off - rotisserie chicken or coffee at your next family BBQ? You decide.
We've been spending the week with the Sun Cafe Coffee Pod brewer and thought we'd share our initial thoughts and unboxing. The Sun Cafe single cup pod brewer uses a 10-12 gram pod, and has the same stylish design original Simplehuman coffee pod brewer. There are several improvement including better labeling of the coffee pod drawer (it says 61 mm 10-12 gram pod on it), which eliminates someone trying to stuff two 7 gram coffee pods in the pod drawer and jamming the brewer. It also is made of a higher quality plastic, thus the brewer feeling like it's of higher quality. We like the Kienna coffee pods we've tried so far, and will get you a full review soon.
There's another Donut Shop K-Cup in town - Timothys Original Donut Shop Blend Keurig K-Cups are coming mid-August, and we can only hope there as good as the Coffee People Donut Shop K-Cups. This coffee is expected to be smooth and mild - conjuring up images of donut shop goodness. We can't wait. Timothy's Original Donut Shop Blend K-Cups will work in any Keurig brewer.
Did you like Pixie Sticks as a kid? We know we did, and now you can get caffeinated Pixie Sticks called Nixie Sticks. Each tube has 100mg of caffeine, which is about 20% more caffeine than your average cup of single serve coffee coffee. You can purchase them in packs of five tubes for $9, and we think for the really adventurous - mixing this with your cup of single serve coffee could lead to caffeine madness.
Jet Fuel K-Cups from Coffee People - Take Off with Coffee
VROOOM!!!! Attention ground control. This full-bodied XX bold coffee packs a punch, and we do mean a punch. We've been sipping Coffee People Jet Fuel K-Cup coffee over the past two days, and it's intense, bold, and gets your day moving. We love the punchy drive of this coffee, and find the dark roast to have sweet notes as well. We can't wait for some Rocket Fuel K-Cups from Coffee People. Perhaps we'll have lift off into low orbit with coffee in our hands.
President’s Choice introduces Coffee Italian Soda to Canadian Grocery Markets
Our Canadian correspondent, Shawn (a.k.a. "SH") recently wrote in to advise us of a new item which started appearing in most Superstore & Loblaws grocery markets the past few weeks. The grocery chain’s national brand is "President’s Choice" and this year, they added a new flavor to their line-up of Italian Sodas… coffee. Here’s what he had to say:
I’m sure most of you have had coffee in just about every imaginable form one could think of and the only thing which could compare to this would be "Coke Blak", however, this is not a coffee-flavored cola or a coffee-based energy drink. This is pure 100% Arabica coffee extract added to carbonated water without any added flavorings other than caramelized sugar to help sweeten things up.
Handpresso WILD Domepod Review at Single Serve Espresso
Well SingleServeEspresso got it's hands on one of the new Handpresso Wild DomePods that is a bit of a change up from it's brother the regular "WILD" that takes the ESE Espresso pod. We love our ESE Handpresso portable espresso and single serve coffee maker, but Single Serve Espresso has found something special in using ground coffee with the Handpresso. Check out their full hands on review of the Handpresso Wild over at SSE.
Nespresso Ecolaboration Project Aims to Recycle Coffee Capsules and Reduce Carbon Footprint
Nespresso is going greener by recyling more coffee capsules, and reducing it's carbon footprint. And how are they going to do it? Nespresso is taking its green game to the next level with an announcement of a company-wide Ecolaboration project. Ecolaboration brings together all of Nespresso's disparate environmental projects under one roof, and covers the entire lifecycle of the coffee-capsule product - from coffee to capsule.
During the next four years, Nespresso aims to increase the amount of coffee it purchases from its AAA Sustainable Quality program to 80 percent, from the current target of 50 percent by 2010. Nespresso has also set a goal of recycling 75 percent of its coffee capsules by 2013, tripling the number currently recycled.
They are also reducing the amount of carbon it takes to make a coffee capsule by 20 percent per cup of coffee. Each cup currently generates 98 grams of CO2e emissions. Also - they will be redesigning the machines to use less energy - thus reducing C02 emissions from the power the machine uses that is not green energy.

The Single Serve Coffee Ritual Re-Imagined - Redesign the Coffee Experience
Recently, students at Israel's Shenkar Academy of Engineering and Design were asked to redesign the coffee ritual. From coffee cups that fit together, to the example above that relies on the shape of the coffee and sugar molecules to make the experience something new, most of the designs are pretty breath taking. And we love how all of the designs, turn the coffee ritual into something more like sculpture, art, and design all mixed together.

Nespresso Conjures Up 20 Percent Sales growth in 2009
Q1 for 2009 is looking really good for Nespresso so far. How good? Well how does 20 percent sales growth in 2009 given the recession sound to you? It sounds really good to us, and proof that a premium portioned coffee product is looking recession proof.
"We are very confident about double digits for 2009," Richard Girardot told a news conference as he opened a major new plant in the Swiss town of Avenches. Nespresso saw sales growth slow to somewhere in the 20s in the first quarter of 2009. Asked how sales had developed since then, Girardot said the trend had stayed about the same and he expected a similar rate for the full year.
