Finally a coffee table with a built-in foosball game. Made from solid poplar, the table stands 20" high, allowing you to sit comfortably or kneel while grasping your team's three hand-carved, solid wood control rod handles. The playing field uses offset light and dark hardwood veneers, decorated with the details of a soccer pitch--center circle and spot, half-way line, and penalty spot. A tempered glass top keeps the ball in-play, and of course can support your coffee and magazines while not playing a game. Both ends of the table have solid wood scorekeeping beads and a stainless steel ball return. The legs have built-in levelers to keep the playing field even.

As we've reported in the past, Carte Noire is quickly becoming one of France's preferred coffee brands and have always sourced the finest Arabica beans available worldwide. They also produce our 2nd favorite espresso T-Disc, so when we heard they were starting to introduce various single-origin flavors in Europe, we quickly ordered their Carte Noire Kenya T-Discs... the first one available "ce côté de l'étang" (this side of the pond) as the French would say.
Upon brewing, we were greeted with a unique mix of aromas which included predominantly dark chocolate with faint hints of molasses (what is it with coffee companies and dark chocolate lately?). The taste was just as unexpected with notes of what can only be described as bittersweet Baker's dark chocolate that contained at least 80% cocoa. Wow, talk about "exotic"... this caught us off guard and left our taste buds rather confused.
Senseo has released a Breakfast Blend Coffee Pod for your Senseo or other single serve coffee pod brewer. The breakfast blend coffee pods are on the milder side, and are a welcome addition to the Senseo line of coffee pods. You may also want to check out their Senseo Kona Blend coffee pods we featured earlier this month as well.
Coffee Mug with Underbite - Brush Those Coffee Stained Teeth
We think this mug would both gross us out (and everyone around us), and remind us to brush our teeth. Each mug is hand carved to give the teeth that special uniqueness they deserve.
Senseo Quadrante Coffee Pod Brewer Pictures and Details
We've recently received the Senseo Quadrante from Europe from Senseo's PR agency, and thought an unboxing was in order. Given the power convertor issues we've had trying to get the machine to run on a US circuit, we're not sure if we'll fully be able to review the Senseo Quadrante in the short term. Regardless, the machine in person is really stunning. The design lines are clean, and the refresh to a cube form welcome.
The double pod holder is loose on top.
The machine features the same one cup and double cup buttons, along with a redesigned water reservoir that is much easier to grip and hold. The big change is the coffee pod drawer area - the entire top pops open for you to put your single or set of coffee pods into.
Green Mountain Coffee Launches Web Site with All Brands Under One Roof
We're very excited to say Green Mountain Coffee has re-launched their web site and folded all four of it's brands under one virtual roof. The new collection of web sites - www.GreenMountainCoffee.com, www.Tullys.com, www.CaribouKcups.com, and www.NewmansOwnOrganicsCoffee.com, -- features four different stores" but only one checkout. Single serve coffee drinkers can browse among Green Mountain Coffee®, Tully's®, Caribou® K-Cups®, and Newman's Own® Organics coffees by using the tabs at the top of their screen. They can add items to their cart from any brand, but only need to check out once.
A single unified checkout with branding for each is genius. We love the navigation, and the K-Cups for each of the brands can all be displayed at once. Great stuff and congrats on the launch.
Senseo has a something very exciting for your single serve coffee pod brewer - Kona 10% Coffee Pods. This blend of Kona beans from the Hawaiian Kona belt is enhanced by Arabica beans from the finest coffee growing regions create the perfect balance for this mild brew. Kona coffee gets it's unique flavor from the volcanic soil it grows in, and the cooling tropical breezes that provide an optimum condition for these yummy beans. Due to the rich climate of the Hawaii islands the outcome is a brew balanced in acidity with tones of fruit and chocolate. Coupled with a bold aroma and surprisingly smooth taste this blend is truly a lesson in escapism (we think anything Hawaii related is a bit escapist).
Tom, Dick & Harry - Designer Tea, Sugar and Coffee Storage Jars
Anyone remember Shmoo? We do, and think these Tom, Dick & Harry jars would make us smile each morning as we make our cup of single serve coffee. We don't think we'll be filling the coffee jar with ground coffee, but we could see some coffee pods working nicely in it. The glints in their eyes indicate what's inside (T: tea, S: sugar & C: coffee) and their air-tight heads have room to fit the handle of a spoon.
CoffeeWiz.com Redesigns Web Site for Improved Single Serve Coffee Buying Experience
CoffeeWiz.com has redesigned their web site, and their brand image and logo. The new design features much improved navigation, and the ability to compare brewers across K-Cups, Coffee Pods, and other single serve coffee methods. There's even a product finder and robust search. Congrats to CoffeeWiz.com on their new site.
Here's a coffee table you're going to want to use on the first floor, and in a place with some pretty hardy floor joists. The Cement Coffee Table from CB2 is made from an agregate of marble, granite, stone and natural fibers. The table is also handmade, and made in a eco-friendly shop that uses less fossil fuels to produce it's products.
Review: Bellaccino Blueberry Cobbler Extra Bold K-Cups from Tully's
As was reported in the past, Tully’s was acquired by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and in the process, Green Mountain also obtained any other brands which were under Tully’s lineup. One of these brands was Bellaccino which Tully’s had introduced last year. Unfortunately, Green Mountain decided to discontinue the brand a few months ago in an effort to “replace slow sellers”. We’ve yet to see a decent selection of flavored extra-bolds from other manufacturers, so Green Mountain’s decision came as quite the disappointment. We can only hope more flavored extra-bolds are introduced in the future.
We realize that we’re reviewing something which our readers may not be able to easily purchase, however, there may still be some online coffee retailers that still have some back-stock available. As a matter of fact, we noticed Amazon was still selling 2-box packs of this flavor (48 K-Cups total) but at a rather steep price (more on that further below). May this review serve as a guide in your purchasing decision should you decide to go ahead with an order.
We've seen a lot of portable single serve coffee makers in our time, including the Handpresso, My Pressi Twist, Starbucks Via Mug, and Jetboil for hiking. Well - they're a mixed bag of tricks with some making better coffee than others. We've like the Handpresso so far, but the Handpresso also costs $99+ dollars and requires ESE pods, hot water, and some pumping power in that arm of yours. So along comes the Solobrew - basically a mini-french press that is both portable and disposable after you use the 4 refills it comes with, and we have to say we're impressed.
You can see here - fill with water, insert the plunger, and then steep and plunge.
Totally french press like.
The SoloPress, also known as French Press To-Go is a disposable and refillable single serve French Press (Press Pot). The SoloPress is conveniently pre-packaged with easy to use disposable plunger units, and the SoloPress brews quickly with some preparation and has a bit of a wet mess to clean up. Well - not a huge mess really - just a rather large wet coffee pod like bad that contains the plunger - but if you're brewing coffee - it's acceptable.
Disposing cigarette ashes in a tray filled with coffee grinds is a common in Japanese culture because the coffee absorbs the smell of cigarette ash. Japanese designer Ryohei Yoshiyuki has designed a simple ashtray made out of used coffee grounds for this daily habit. We like the idea, but aren't big fans of smoking. But if you have to smoke, shouldn't you use a coffee ashtray?
Save $12 On Senseo Coffee Pods When You Buy 3 Items
That's right you can save $12 when you buy three or more on eligible Senseo pods sold by Amazon.com. This discount will be reflected in your cart at checkout. Offer valid through September 30, 2009, so get cracking!
We've got a use for your old drip coffee maker - use it to poach chicken. That's right - Gizmodo's MacGyver Chef series shows you how to poach chicken breasts and couscous in a coffee maker. We can't say we're game to try it (and we haven't had a drip coffee maker in house for over 4 years now), but it does in fact work.
Review: Cafe Escapes Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate Hot Cocoa K-Cups
One of the things that always bugged us about Keurig brewers was the lack of selection when it came to hot chocolate/cocoa choices. We guess our gripes (and yours) have been heard by the powers that be since we recently saw the introduction of the Cafe Escapes hot beverage line-up on the K-Cup scene. A quick look around the Cafe Escapes K-Cups for Keurig website reveals that they've sourced their various ingredients from Europe (the companies/suppliers in question are not named), so this might reveal why these K-Cups appear creamier/richer than what's currently on the market.
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is distributing this brand, so there shouldn't be any problems getting your hands on a box whenever you so desire. For the purpose of this review, we decided to try the 2 main flavors which are currently available: Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa and Dark Chocolate Hot Cocoa. We also decided not to bother with our usual scoring system since these are hot cocoa drinks which don't have acidity or some of the other characteristics we base points on. Instead, we'll describe tasting notes and whether or not we recommend these selections or not.
