Black Luk is a single serve coffee maker concept that is driving us and it up the wall. Black Luk requires a bit of wall plumbing, and then you're off to the single serve coffee races with everyone who wants a cup from your stuck on the wall coffee maker. Black Luk, a wall mounted coffee machine that dispenses a cuppa java at a time is sure to impress if it ever comes out.
Bunn has created a new single serve coffee brewer for baristas called trifecta. Aimed to take on the Clover market, the Bunn Trifecta automatic single cup coffee brewer allows your barista to unlock the nuances of each individual coffee ground. The end result is a unique, full-bodied coffee experience that your customers are sure to love! The Bunn Trifecta automatic single cup coffee brewer is ETL and NSF Listed. It requires a 120V electrical connection for operation and comes with a cord and NEMA 5-15P plug.
Note the trifecta is currently only available in a cafe version and it not for home yet, but we're not sure there's anything stopping you from purchasing the $3000+ trifecta either.
You can save up to $67 bucks on the Dolce Gusto Genio Coffeemaker right now. The Dolce Gusto Genio Coffeemaker allows you to easily prepare a variety of hot and cold drinks with the single serve system, and it uses the Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee capsules. You can produce gourmet coffees, lattes, cappuccinos, iced drinks and more, and it even produces authentic espresso with crema using 15 bar pump pressure. You can also quickly customize beverage strength and preparation with the 7-level LED display controls, and no preheating is required with the special thermoblock heating system. There's even an energy-saving automatic stand-by mode after 5-minutes of inactivity.
We love this design, and we think it looks like a Tron Penguin. Whatever you decide, the savings and amount of drinks you can make with the Genio from Dolce Gusto is pretty amazing.

illyusa is now offering Single-Origin Arabica Coffees for their iperEspresso line of single serve espresso makers. illy is offering Brazil, Guatemala, Ethiopia origin iperEspresso capsules, and they are dubbing them MonoArabica or single origin coffees. We've been wondering when they would broaden their iperEspresso offerings and this comes as a welcome surprise.
With all the news about Barista Prima K-Cups back at the time and the recent news about Starbucks K-Cups finally hitting select retail stores recently, it's easy to overlook a K-Cup brand that slipped "under the radar" a while back. Today we address that oversight by reviewingMillstone's Breakfast Blend Fair Trade K-Cups.
According to the wiki article, Millstone was founded in Everett, Washington in 1981. Founder Phil Johnson sold 100lb sacks of Arabica beans to high-end coffee shops in the greater Seattle area & pioneered the idea of selling whole-beaned coffees to supermarkets. Johnson sold Millstone to Procter & Gamble in 1996 which closed down most of the operation in Everett and now run the company out of Ohio.
Kienna Coffee pods are some of the best coffee pods around, and we're very excited to see Kienna create the KiennaKUP pod adapter which allows you to use biodegradable KIENNA coffee pods in your Keurig Brewer. How does it work? You simply place the KIENNA coffee pod in the adapter and place the adapter in the Keurig® brewer and brew like you would normally do. Video and detailed information after the jump...
We just picked up a set of these 15-Ounce glasses with silicone grips in purple and we love them. This set of 6 15 ounce Bodum Pavina mugs is made of heat resistant borosilicate glass and silicone, and each set includes two red, two green and two orange cups. The best part is these glasses can be used for both hot and cold beverages and all parts are dishwasher safe. We've been using ours for both drinking water and enjoying a hot cup of coffee. Also the silicone grip is amazing for keeping your hand from burning on the hotter beverages.
We're pretty big Star Wars fans here at Single Serve Coffee. We've been scouring the internet for some latte art fun and found this pretty amazing Darth Vader. We've yet to dabble in latte art, but now we're thinking of firing up the Tassimo and making our own Star Wars themed latte.
For a look at how to make a simple design, check out this tutorial or go to YouTube and search on "latte art." We'll let you know how our efforts go over the next few weeks.
Dunkin' Donuts has unwrapped holiday offers that make it easy and affordable to enjoy the perfect cup of America's Favorite Coffee at home this holiday season:
Participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants will sell now the Keurig Elite Brewing System -- one of the most popular single-cup brewing models -- making it easy for guests to purchase a Keurig brewer as a gift.
Dunkin' Donuts launched the "Great HoliDDay Giveaway" on Facebook, a daily sweepstakes with the chance to win a Dunkin' Donuts home brewing package. Each day through December 14, Dunkin' Donuts will select one fan to receive a Keurig Brewing System, two pounds of Dunkin' Donuts packaged coffee, two boxes of Dunkin' Donuts K-Cup Portion Packs, and two Dunkin' Donuts ceramic mugs.
As part of Dunkin' Donuts' Sims Social brand integration campaign, players of the game who visit the Dunkin' Donuts Facebook page can receive two exclusive special bonus items: a pound of Dunkin' Donuts packaged coffee and a home brewer machine called the Dunkin'-Matic 5000 so they can brew the Dunkin' coffee in their Sim's home.
Keurig sent us over theK-Cup Storage Dispensertwo pack which keeps a total of 48 portion packs right on our countertops. You can even showcase which K-Cup is in each bin, and the the generous opening and slanted interior allows for easy filling and selection.
Each dispenser holds 24 portion packs, and we found them to work great in our area right next to the fridge.
We continue our review of Dunkin Donuts’ series of K-Cups today with their Dunkin Donuts Hazelnut K-Cups.
Upon brewing these K-Cups, you get a hazelnut aroma but it just doesn’t seem… natural. Unlike some of the other hazelnut-flavored K-Cups we’ve had in the past from competitors (trust us, there’s many), we’d have to say this just doesn’t have a normal hazelnut aroma. Dunkins doesn’t hide the fact that they’re using artificial flavoring in this K-Cup, but unlike their French Vanilla, there’s just something off-putting by this scent. The best we can describe it is coffee that’s been spiked with a few shots of Torani hazelnut syrup. It just had us somewhat weirded-out. Not the best first impression to make, but we’ll still give this K-Cup a chance to redeem itself in other categories. Let’s push-forward & see how it holds up.
We've never been much for "chaw" but then along came Grinds. The Grinds Coffee Pouch works just like bagged chaw does. You simply put a pack into your lip and leave it there. It "brews" in your natural juices, eliminating the need for a spit cup and the transfer of caffeine is complete.
Each tin contains 20 packets and comes in Mocha, Mint Chocolate, and Cinnamon Roll. These pouches sell in three-packs for $13 at Grinds.
Starbucks K-Cup portion packs forKeurigbrewers are showing up all over the US. We've got lots of reader write ins and a picture after the jump of Starbucks K-Cups on the shelves at a Belk store. Sound off in the comments if you've seen them in your region, and we'd also like to know what you think of the various coffee and tea flavors.
Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cups are now the subject of a virtual tasting interview with italian Barista Francesco Sanapo. After the jump you can enjoy a question and answer session about the Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cups, and there's even shots of Francesco Sanapo in a barista competition.
Green Mountain Coffee Roaster's Keurig unit sued a Rogers Gourmet Coffee and Tea. Rogers is accused of infringing three patents related to single-serving coffee cartridges, after releasing an after market K-Cup called "OneCup".
According to the complaint filed this week in federal court in Boston, Rogers offers single-serving beverage cartridges that infringe the Keurig patents. Additionally, Reading, Massachusetts-based Keurig complains that the Rogers website states that the company’s "One Cup" product can be used in a Keurig single-serving coffee brewer. Keurig asked the court to bar Rogers from further infringement, and for awards of money damages, Rogers’ profits attributable to the alleged infringement, attorney fees and litigation costs.
We expected a case given how close the OneCup is to a K-Cup. Given Keurig has a variety of patents, we're pretty sure they'll have many options to discuss when this case goes to court or if it's settled.
Shoffee.com has launched a new site called Coffee Blitz featuring a weekly deal created by social media interaction.

The Bodum Coffee and Tea Lab concept over at Yanko Design caught our eye this week. The Bodum Coffee & Tea Maker features a borosilicate glass reservoir & beverage filter integrated as detachable modules. Because of this integration into the module top making your coffee and spilling it becomes impossible. We love how both coffee and tea are integrated into one design in which the module shares space for both beverages (or in our case two cups of coffee). We think this concept could bring single serve tea and coffee to the next level.
Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cups are still top on our list of the ultimate K-Cups. Green Mountain Coffee just sent us over a sample kit including a Barista Prima Coffeehouse mug, and the entire staff here at Single Serve Coffee is fighting over it and the K-Cups (which is no surprise). The flavors from any of the Barista Prima K-Cups are stunning.
Why are they so good? The flavors from Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cups are rich, intense, dark, and most of all the coffee produced feels as if you got it at a coffeehouse not out of a home brewer. These K-Cups are also a little more expensive than other K-Cups and we feel the price is worth it. Try some out and you will be pleasantly surprised how good a cup of single serve coffee can be.
