A different design than the Dualit Rapido, the Dualit Piccolina coffee capsule machine from Dualit is packed full of user friendly features. This machine is only available in Europe (another Caffitaly variant), and is available Online & at John Lewis stores in the UK. It's nice to see how the worldwide counterparts differ in color and tone from the US variants that CBTL is featuring. We think the simple black is nice, but we do miss the bright blue and red CBTL offers here in the US.

We've been getting a lot of reader write ins about the Dualit Rapido (a Caffitaly machine) and the same machine used for CBTL here in the US. It's another jack of all trades little wonder, and it will make a variety of coffee drinks, and has a very nice design to boot. You'll also only find this machine in Europe, but if you want the same features we encourage you to try out the CBTL machine here in the US.

More of a Nespresso knock off than a K-Cup killer, the K-Fee Pod Drinks machine uses Tesco pod/capsules to make a variety of roast and ground coffee blends, espresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato, mocha, teas and hot chocolate. This machine is also currently only available in Europe and abroad with a variety of names.
The machine features a 19 bar high pressure pump, and heats up in 20 seconds. There is automatic pod collection, an integrated cleaning function, plus a programmable filling quantity to suit your strength preference. The capacity of this coffee machine’s water tank is 1 litre. Tesco pods are available in over 300 selected stores, and can also be bought on Tesco Direct starting December, 1 2011.
Over in the SSC forums we also found a review of the machine in Australia. It looks more like a Nespresso copy, than a K-Cup machine. We would imagine they're using the K-name to be more recognizable here in the US. In Australia it's called the Expressi.
We've been using our Ekobrew here and there with our Keurig brewer over the past few weeks, and have to say it works really well (thanks for sending Ekobrew!). There's a variety of these refillable K-Cup products from the My K-Cup from Keurig, to the EZ-Cup, and even the Solo-Fill - and they all work well but this one is easy to use, and we also like the lid design. We think you should check the full range of reusable K-Cups out if you're looking to use ground coffee occasionally with your Keurig brewer, as each one has it's merits.
The Ekobrew’s patent pending design includes a deep brew chamber, heavy duty hinge, flat bottom design and heat resistant grips for safer removal after use
Save money by using your favorite coffee and at the same time reduce the impact on the environment. 100% BPA free plastic.
No need to remove the Keurig filter holster; Simply fill the Ekobrew, place it in your machine and brew normally
Ekobrew’s unique design provides the very best coffee possible and our smooth interior makes clean up fast and easy.
Ekobrew is not compatible with the B30, B130, B150 and B155

Dirceu Veiga is a Brazillian Designer living in Curitiba ( South of Brazil ) and he really loves coffee. Mixing illustration and coffee, he creates amazing paintings using coffee as ink. Coffee Art is a painting technique that use just 100% coffee instead ink to paint instead of traditional paint.
He only uses 100% coffee in his paintings. Understandably, as coffee is used as the as the primary material for the work, the colours are predominantly brown . . . and more brown. However, by adding a dab of water here and there he manages to create a variety of different shades from the coffee and some of his work is pretty amazing - like the Hendrix painting above.
We can't wait for him to discover the world of Single Serve Coffee and perhaps do a series on just the coffee produced from one single serve coffee pod or K-Cup.
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s latest addition to its line of single-serve beverage systems is the CBTL Americano machine. Boston.com has an article we just have to get behind - coffee is recession proof. We can safely say that traffic and interest in Single Serve Coffee is recession proof as our readership continues to grow despite other tougher economic areas of the economy not fairing as well. The article has lots of interesting tidbits related to people just not willing to give up their coffee or their coffee rituals. Coffee is the most frequently consumed morning beverage and more people are drinking it outside the home, and also inside the home and we hope it never stops. Viva la coffee!!!
Here at the Single Serve Coffee kitchens, we're always keeping an eye open for the latest innovations in single serve products and a while back, Green Mountain decided to do something which had never been attempted before... they manufactured the World's first "all-paper' K-Cup. Made from a special combination of printed cardboard & paper lined with a special film (to prevent a soggy mess during brewing), this K-Cup marks a manufacturing milestone for Green Mountain and opens up the door to future innovations. Today we review Celestial Seasonings Honey Lemon Ginseng Green Tea K-Cups.
While we realize this review is LONG overdue (this product was introduced around Sept. 2010 and has since been discontinued) & apologize for the delay, we figured we would at least give our readers an idea of what the product was like. There's always a chance that another flavor may be introduced using this new paper K-Cup format sometime in the future. You can even read our earlier review of the packaging we did last year. As you can see in the photos, the things that stand out the most are the floral design & Celestial Seasonings logo printed on the side of the K-Cup (marks the first time print/artwork has been able to appear on a K-Cup) as well as the unique paper crimping process used underneath. You keep thinking the thing will blow apart inside your machine, but it's surprisingly well designed to withstand the water pressure. Did we mention this thing was made entirely of fricking PAPER? Amazing.
There's a new disposable coffee cup called Compleat which features an all-paper design that has a built-in lid with sipping spout. Peter Herman has come up with a greener, all-paper disposable cup that folds closed like a takeout container to form a sipping spout, and we are rejoicing.
Every week we probably use 3-5 disposable cups not matter how hard we try and bring our own travel mug. Imagine how many lids we use - and then imagine everyone who's doing this 1-2 times a day. That all amounts to a crazy number of lids being thrown out along with the paper cups.
Compleat could ultimately save retailers money too. It’s just one piece, and that will be unique in the coffee drinker's mind. Also since the lids are foldable, they can have messaging on them that is sure to please Cafes trying to remind customers about their coffee and offerings. Launch date and for whom Compleat ultimately rolls out too is still up in the air, but we'd love to see it soon.
Tonx Coffee will send you fresh micro-roasted coffee every two weeks when you sign up and pay them some green backs. That's right - this is a micro-roasted whole bean coffee service to rival all others. Locally we have several micro-roasters here in Arlington, MA but it's nice to see for the rest of America they can also get in on the micro-roast game. Pricing is $35 every 4 weeks, and you're billed every 4 weeks exactly. We say kick the stale coffee habit and get some Tonx coffee. You won't be sorry.
Scanomat's Top Brewer keeps all the grinding and brewing hardware under the counter and allows you to order up your drink by using an app on an iPhone. There's even an LCD touchscreen on the counter to serve as an alternate way to order up your beverage. The Top Brewer can produce up to four cups of coffee per minute, and is self-cleaning.
The Top Brewer can be configured to dispense hot and cold water, milk, fruit juices or even just steam for blanching vegetables. Pricing is yet to be determined but we're not thinking under $100. :-)
What does it take to attract the top talent for Google in London, and grow that talent from 350 to 1000 employees? Coffee. Lunch, snacks and coffee in the Star Trek-themed building are important because Google knows happy employees stay Google employees. The state of the art coffee lab that has 19 different types of coffee, five specifically designed for Google, also features worktops which are made from coffee beans set in resin.
After you grab your cup of Google coffee, you can take it for a walk in the fake indoor park complete with trees, deck chairs, a rowing boat with oars, and a Winnie the Pooh for good measure. We think in the end we'd have no reason to go home what so ever. Also - when is Google getting into the single serve coffee game?
We encourage you to check it out even if you're thinking of not buying for yourselves but perhaps a gift for other single serve coffee drinkers this season. We also think the photo gallery is well done.
Powered by Keurig brewing technology, the Mr. Coffee KG2 K-Cup Single Serve Coffee Maker is compatible with Keurig K-Cup portion packs. It features a removable drip tray, and has an On/Off Indicator Light.
Other features include:
Personal Brewer Choice of 1 cup size (9 oz.)
Single-use water reservoir
Energy Savings Mode – Auto Off after 90 seconds
We like the look of the KG2 over the KG1 model. It just feels a bit less Star Trek and more from the future of single serve coffee. Like the KG1, this brewer is also perfect for on the go and the single-use water reservoir keeps each cup of coffee fresh the first time. Read our review of the KG1 from Mr. Coffee to get an idea of how this brewer works.
Brewing the Millstone Hazelnut Cream K-Cups resulted in creamy hazelnut notes with hints of vanilla when smelled from up close, yet when we brewed one of these K-Cups at work recently, some of our co-workers complained that the nearby corridor smelled as if someone had smoked a cigarette. Wait... what?!? We thought they needed to get their olfactory senses checked since we didn't notice this ourselves and certainly couldn't reproduce the effect at the Single Serve Coffee kitchens here today. Just to be sure, we had a few other staff members walk by the room afterwards and they did not notice anything out of the ordinary either. Jim Morrison was right when he said "People Are Strange".
Over at the SSC forums there's word on a new single serve coffee maker dubbed the Scoop from Hamilton Beach which allows you to use ground coffee with no pods or special filters required. You simply scoop up some coffee in the special filter, and then close the brew head. There are two metal scoops included for precise measuring ensuring the perfect cup of coffee, and you can can brew up to 14oz in as little as 1.5 minutes. The Scoop also fits a travel size or regular mug.
