Ne-cap Allows You to Make Your Own Nespresso Capsules with Any Coffee

ne-cap-capsules-compatibles-nespresso.jpg

There's a product out in France called Ne-Cap that make the impossible possible - you can make your own Nespresso capsules and use any coffee you want.

The capsule is used in 4 easy steps...

  1. Fill capsule with your preferred espresso coffee or tea leaves
  2. Remove the protective label on the adhesive seal
  3. Stick on the foil label
  4. Pop in any Nespresso machine and enjoy.

According to the site, the cost per capsule is 0.10 Euros (Approx. 0.14 cents USD) and each capsule can hold about 5 grams of coffee. No word on how many capsules are in a box but the site says they're available at "fine coffee retailers across France" and online at various French coffee product sites.

There are even accessories for the Ne-cap as well...

Perfect Pod and EZ-Cup Now at Bed Bath and Beyond

41PplDan8BL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

We've had several readers write in that Perfect Pod (allows you to create your own coffee pods), and EZ-Cup (allows you to use any coffee you want in a Keurig brewer combined with using the EZ-Cup filter papers) are now at Bed Bath & Beyond. We've had some readers write in from the West Coast and some from the East Coast so it seems the product will be widely available at most BB&Beyond stores.

ezcupfilters.jpgThe EZ-Cup Filters are used in the EZ-Cup to hold the coffee of your choice.

Please read our full reviews of the Perfect Pod and EZ-Cup to get a better idea of how these products work.

K-Cup Mini 18-cup Carousel - Countertop K-Cup Storage

51AGiMgRzLL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

We really like this space saving two-tier carousel that holds up to 18 Keurig K-Cups. It features a black powder-coat finish, and looks great on any counter-top. The Lazy-Susan style base rotates for easy access of your favorite K-Cup coffees, and no the K-cups are not included but you can add your own in minutes.

USB Single Serve Coffee-Cup Warmer Could Be Hacked

340x_usb-warmer-alu.jpg

Gizmodo has a really interesting take on whether the devices plugged into your computer aren't perfect for hackers that switch them out locally. We're pretty sure this would be difficult to do with our precious USB Coffee-Cup warmer (we know the coffee stains on it intimately), but you never know. What's the problem? The problem stems from a shortcoming in the way the Universal Serial Bus (USB) works. This allows almost all USB-connected devices, such as mice and printers, to be turned into tools for data theft, says a team that has exploited the flaw.

With two frothing and 1 heating disk plus three temperature settings this frother from Capresso is the perfect counterpart to your single serve coffee maker. It features auto shut-off, and the large capacity frother has a scratch resistant, ceramic coated pitcher with a stay cool handle and see through lid. We love having a frother to make a latte or cappuccino, and think you'll enjoy some hot milk on these cold winter nights to put you to sleep as well.

Hands-on Review: Coava Coffee Disk filter for the Aeropress Single Serve Coffee Maker

coava_disk-580x386.jpg

The staff over at Geek.com have a rather extensive review of the Coava Cofee Disk filter for Aeropress (you can read our review of the Aeropress here). Coava Coffee metal filter remove the need for the use of paper filters, and also give you a more french pressed cup of single serve coffee from the Aeropress.

The Coava Coffee Disk was designed to fit perfectly in the place of Aeropress' normal paper filters. The brew process is the same but you'll want to adjust your grind to compensate for the new filter. Check out their full review at Geek.com.

  • Food-safe stainless steel spoon, with a silicone-coated handle.
  • Handle clips to the side of your mug, so it stays in place when you raise your mug for a drink.

Chemex and Coava Metal Cone Filter Make Perfect Coffee Together

500x_coavakone.jpg

If you've never used a Chemex pour over coffee maker, than you're not used to the worst part of using a coffee maker with filter papers. The problem? Just like with every single cup of coffee you brew using your Keurig, Senseo, Tassimo, or others is you have to throw away the filter. The Coava Kone eliminates this when using a Chemix coffee maker, allowing you to reuse Coava's photochemically etched metal Kone filter for every pot.

The Chemex one cup and a little more single serve
coffee maker.

Coffee brewed via Chemex using a filter paper is noted for it's clarity, but when you use a coffee cone filter like the Coava you get more a french press mix.

NYT's Oliver Strand:

"It gives you the control of a Chemex and the tannic cup you get from a French press: a Frenchmex...it was strange to find such an aggressive coffee sitting in my Chemex. It was like pulling the top off a bamboo steam basket and encountering a piece of grilled meat."

We're anxious to dig out our Chemex coffee maker and acquire one of these Coava cones. Wish us luck on the pursuit, and we'll tell you how the coffee is when it arrives.
