Okay - I'm not an avid reader of Plastics & Rubber Weekly, but it does look like they have some great news for those of you interested in Tassimo. Tassimo is doing so well in Europe that 3 new sites in Germany are adding machines to produce more Tassimos for Europe. And best of all? The company making Tassimo for the US is buying a factory to make the Tassimo stateside. With the job cuts at General Motors of 25,000 jobs, this is great news for workers here in the US. Maybe it will not only make a great latte, but perhaps also support the lives of a few American workers who have been displaced by this so-so economy.
Update: You can now order Tassimo at Amazon.com.

We're traveling today to visit both Baronet Coffee and Cool Beans Pods in Hartford, CT. Expect a full report of all things Coffee Pod coming out of these visits. We hope to capture live coffee pod making in action - or at least some coffee roasting! We'll have pictures, pods, and more to report in the coming weeks.
Update: Just got out of a fascinating two hour tour (no not Gilligan's Island) of Baronet Coffee. In a word - amazing. Not only did we get to see the entire coffee pod making process, but we sampled a ton of new and interesting Single Serve Coffee pod flavors. We'll have tons to report in the next week about the entire visit. We also sampled their espresso line of coffee pods, and boy are they yummy! I think I'm a little too wired to drink any coffee for at least 2 hours! Onto Cool Beans!

Community Coffee seems to keep popping up in my world this week. I was searching for on Chicory coffee in Louisiana - to see if Cafe Du Monde made pods (just hoping but no go). Well - that search has landed me on Community Coffee and they do make coffee pods and are also a local Louisiana favorite.
Then last night we were dining at Magnolia's here in Boston (a Louisiana influenced creole menu and just amazing), I was surprised to find out that they served Community Coffee's chicory blend, and not Cafe Du Monde's coffee. I got into a rather long discussion with the waitress and then the owner about the pros-and-cons of both varieties, and I have to say the Community Coffee chicory blend we had wasn't bad.
Okay - now for the pod news. Community Coffee has got 4 coffee pod flavors right now. I'll see what I can drum up for samples to review. Seems the pods only work in the Bunn My Cafe - but if we get them to review, I'll try them out in the Senseo and others.

We've been trying to get our hands on a Nespresso machine for a few weeks now. This is in the same league of cost and machine as the FrancisFrancis!, and more like the Keurig or Tassimo machine because of the Nespresso cup/pod that the machine uses. The new Romeo is quite the machine - inspired from Romeo & Juliet. As you can see in the picture - you put the Nespresso pod in the machine at the top, and the coffee comes out to meet your cup below.
Very cool. :-)
Update: Read our full review of the Nespresso Romeo from Single Serve Coffee.com

More on the new Home Cafe Coffee Pod brewer from Krups coming this fall. Also - this is a killer run down of the current state of the single serve set of brewers available.
CBS News | Java Nirvana In Your Kitchen | March 21, 2005 13:00:03:
Coffee Giant Krups is introducing a brand new pod machine called the Krups Home Cafe, at the Housewares trade show in Chicago. Gregg offered a sneak peek with a single-cup coffee brewer that uses pressure-brewing technology. Specially designed Millstone coffee pods can brew either one or two cups of coffee at a time. This model also allows consumers to customize the amount and flavor of their coffee by setting the system for a 6 oz. or 9 oz. cup of coffee or even up to a full 18 oz. travel mug. The cups can even be of different flavors, thanks to two independent pod holders. Retails for $150.
