We just reviewed the new Wolfgang Puck Instant Hot Latte and had some outstanding questions about recycling the can and also how safe the cans were after using given the quicklime mixture used to heat the cans. We just got word that the cans are recyclable and the mixture is non hazardous and will not cause any concerns in landfills.
From David Cooper:
"We have just heard that our Self Heating container has received a recycling classification from the Department Of Conservation and the #7 and recycle logo will appear on all new labels. Until then the container is perfectly acceptable for disposal through normal channels.
As you know the container uses a mixture of quicklime and water. Quicklime is created by cooking limestone rocks. Limestone & quicklime are non toxic and non hazardous materials that occur naturally and will not cause any concerns in landfills."

Maybe you noticed - maybe you didn't. But it's been over a year since we launched Single Serve Coffee.com and we wanted to tidy up things a bit. We've redesigned the header and also the accompanying graphics for the site. We were tired of just a two colored brown and white site and hope you enjoy the new graphics as they seem to feel more coffee to everyone here at Single Serve Coffee.com.
Also you may notice little odds and ends getting spruced up on different pages and new features being rolled out. You can now email a link to any story we run on Single Serve Coffee.com by clicking "Email This". Also, we've updated the titles to the individual stories to make searching above even easier.
We've also consolidated our RSS/ATOM feed for reading Single Serve Coffee.com via RSS. You can now add Single Serve Coffee.com headlines to your My.Yahoo page or add it to the news reader of your choice. All the details here.
And of course you know about our mailing list as we are giving away $50 dollars this month to a lucky random person who signs up. The mailing list will feature special promotions and insider news you won't find anywhere else.
Stay tuned for even more features as we hit the August time frame; including some much needed discussion Forums for you to register and talk about Single Serve Coffee whenever you want. You can visit the BETA of the forums right now and tell us what you would like to see in the forums by visiting the Talk Back Section and signing up. Feel free to post and get settled in - just please excuse the mess.
Thanks again for all your continued support.

We've been reading this blog from Heather at CoffeeGIANT since February. It has some great run downs of the industry and we recommend it for some coffee reading. Right now they've got a great article on the state of coffee pods and who's trying to win.
"If you haven’t heard the buzz, you soon will. The newest adventure in single cup coffee is the “coffee pod” and pod machine. The concept is great, a universal one-cup coffee maker that has refills readily available for it. The pod it’s self is a relatively simple concept, a single serving of coffee in a filter packet. By using a small filter pack you can make a single cup of freshly brewed coffee or tea quickly and conveniently."
Do you know of other cool coffee blogs? Sound off and let us know. We love a good single serve coffee read.

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of visiting Baronet Coffee in Hartford, Connecticut. They invited Single Serve Coffee.com to come down (we're Boston based) and sample the new roasts they had just released under the One Cup coffee brand. We were also invited to see the coffee roasting plant and watch them make single serve coffee pods and sample their new espresso line of ESE pods.
After the jump - making single serve coffee and a movie of making single serve coffee pods!

Okay - I admit it. It's not a single serve coffee maker, but it is indeed darn cool. The Beyond Digital Living Coffee maker is a networked small appliance for your coffee making needs. You can schedule brewing coffee right over the internet using a web browser and time your coffee to be brewed when you want it.
If they did have this for the Keurig or Bunn, I think logging into my single serve coffee maker from the laptop in the kitchen and firing it off might be fun and a bit excessive - but I can dare to dream.

Brilliant. In all my travels through Europe, there was always either a Senseo or some other little coffee machine in the room. Though only the Senseo coffee was amazing, it was great to see and taste all the other coffees. Now iLoveInns.com has teamed up with Sara Lee to install 2000 Senseos and sample 700,000 coffee pods to tourists in bed and breakfasts across the US. Knowing I might get a better cup of coffee at a B&B - that might make me stay in them more often.
The other really cool thing about this piece of news, they also seem to be sampling new blends for feedback! Perhaps they will sample a breakfast blend?

I can't say we've tried these CoffeeGo bars, but they do look yummy. Coffee in bar form? how can you go wrong. What's really interesting is a cup of coffee has 100mg of caffeine and these bars only have 6g. That's just not going to cut it on the caffeine front for me.
