Home Café on Survivor!!!

homecafe_thumb.jpgIn what can only be called true product marketing within a show, the Home Cafe from Black&Decker was featured on the CBS show Survivor last night.

The tribe that won the challenge (okay - watch Survivor - I'm not explaining the show here), got to take back to their camp a Home Cafe. The funny thing is - they are on a desert island much like Gilligan & the Skipper lived on. HOW ARE THEY POWERING IT??? Hehehe...it was really weird to watch half dress people having single serve coffee.

Click below to visit the Survivor 9 site...I'm sure they'll have video clips showing the Home Cafe.

Instant Coffee?

Well - at least one person gets it right at the end of the article...

"There is no accounting for taste, pay no attention to the "bad coffee' reviews. There is a pod out there for everyone's taste," writes Paul Gooding of Phoenix on Amazon.com. "This is the coffee maker of the future."

and...

"New one-cup coffee makers allow you to skip the mess and excess while brewing coffee to suit each drinker. But don't forgo your Starbucks fix just yet."

Yes, You Really Do Need That Coffee

images.jpgIn case you didn't already know...:-)

"Caffeine is the world's most commonly used stimulant, and it's cheap and readily available so people can maintain their use of caffeine quite easily," said Roland Griffiths, a professor of psychiatry and neuroscience who led a review of 170 years' worth of studies on caffeine."

The Future Of Coffee?

040915_coffee_melitta_250.jpg

"Single-serve pod machines and coffee pods have just hit the Canadian market. There's a battle brewing for control of your morning coffee. Millions have been spent, PR salvos have been fired, yet one question remains: Are Canadians ready for the pod?"

Senseo in The Pawtucket Times

pawtucket_pods.jpgRiddle me this...I can't really tell what's going on in this article/ramble from a bunch of women in the Pawtucket Times - but it's funny and informative. I think they pick a product and just talk about it as if they were on a radio show? Wild.

The Pawtucket Times: "Bonnie: Something's brewing in coffee making that's as revolutionary as the Mr. Coffee drip coffeemaker was in the '70s. I'm talking about the new machines that use single-cup filters (aka pods) to take the guesswork out of preparing coffee one or two cups at a time."

Coffee Break: Now, Java in a Pod

coffee.jpgThe New York Times has a killer article on the single serve craze. They cover not ony Senseo - but Nespresso and others. A special thanks to Emmy Abram for sending this in.

"Before leaving for work from her home in the Maryland suburbs, Elisa Diehl likes to have a cup of espresso. But she doesn't have the patience to grind and measure beans for her Nespresso machine, so she uses "pods" — single doses of premeasured coffee in thimble-shape capsules, which she orders by phone or on the Web."

I have a new coffee machine...

Steve Garfield of Off On a Tangent fame - writes in that his 79 year old mother - Mildred Garfield has in fact received a Senseo from her son Steve. She loves it!!! She claims that she is the oldest person blogging on the web, if that holds true - she may in fact be able to add that she is the oldest Senseo reviewer on the web as well.

"I HAVE A NEW COFFEE MACHINE
Here I am writing about coffee again. I had a birthday last week and my son and daughter in-law gave me a Senseo Coffee Machine. With this product you can have a perfect cup of coffee every time. You can make one cup, two cups or one mug in just a few seconds. Another great feature about this coffemaker is there's no pot to wash, you just have to rinse the coffee pod holder. "
