We conclude our series of Lavazza K-Cup reviews today with the final flavor in their line-up… Lavazza Perfetto K-Cups. This is apparently the strongest roast & strongest tasting coffee of the line-up. Given how disappointed we were with their Gran Selezione K-Cups last time, we’re truly hoping for a return to form this time. Lets see if Lavazza strike out or knock it out of the park.
Brewing the Lavazza Perfetto K-Cups resulted in aromas of smoky hickory tinged with notes of dark chocolate throughout with a very mild earthiness underneath. Billed as an espresso roast, flavor seemed more akin to a dark roast and wasn’t anywhere as strong as what we were expecting. We did however notice a nice blend of chocolate flavors with caramel notes hiding underneath near the end of each sip.

We continue our series of Lavazza K-Cup reviews today with the next flavor in the line-up… Lavazza Gran Selezione K-Cups. This is billed as dark roast and is supposed to be Rainforest Alliance Certified while having intense flavor and chocolate undertones. Let’s see how things go, shall we?
Brewing these K-Cups resulted in mild smoky & earthy aromas which weren’t anywhere as strong as what we were expecting given the fact that this is a dark roast. Flavor was a mix of astringent smoky notes up front followed by some hits of smoke, very mild hints of molasses and mild chocolate notes in the background. Things were rounded-off with some faint berry notes hiding underneath near the end of each sip.

Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. announced a multi-year agreement to offer W.B. Mason's SHAZAM coffee in K-Cup packs for the Keurig hot brewing system in away from home channels. SHAZAM will be the first brand to come into the Keurig family from a Keurig Authorized Distributor. The name Shazam fills the entire staff with nostalgia about a certain superhero, and for some a music listening app, but for K-Cuppers it’s coffee that will come to mind.
The companies plan to launch the new SHAZAM coffee K-Cup packs later in the month of October 2014 with Light, Medium, and Dark Roast blends exclusively to W.B. Mason customers. SHAZAM coffee promotes that it will ‘Make Your Day Magical,’ at a competitive price. All SHAZAM coffee K-Cup packs will be marked with the Keurig Brewed seal indicating the product has passed rigorous testing, assuring the quality, taste and integrity consumers expect from the Keurig brand. It also means the SHAZAM coffee K-Cup packs will work in your Keurig 2.0.

Green Mountain has released their Autumn Harvest K-Cups and since picking up a box at Target we can’t stop drinking this coffee. The coffee uses a set of lighter and darker roasted coffees to produce a very mild medium roast coffee. The Autumn Harvest Blend offers the clean, bright flavors of exceptional Central American coffees, and the sweet smoke and caramel of our French Roast.
We think you’ll enjoy this coffee all Fall and Winter long. Green Mountain Coffee Autumn Harvest Blend K-Cups are available in the US at Target and other online retailers like Amazon. Green Mountain Coffee Autumn Harvest Blend K-Cups will work in all K-Cup Brewers including Keurig 2.0.

We continue our series of Lavazza K-Cup reviews today with the next flavor in the line-up… Lavazza Classico K-Cups. This is billed as medium roast and is supposed to be suited as an everyday coffee which can be enjoyed at any time. Let’s see how this one turns out, shall we?
Brewing these K-Cups resulted in light aromas of smoky hickory tinged with very mild hints of dates & raisins as the coffee cools off. Keurig & Lavazza describe the coffee as having an aroma of dried fruits and while it may not have been evident at first, we did eventually start getting some mild notes after a while.

Did you know you had some type of data port in the bottom of your Keurig 2.0? We found it tucked away underneath the Keurig 2.0 (read our article here) waiting to be used at some later point. Is it going to connect to the Keurig Cold coming out soon? Is it going to be used to connect to AOL by dialing out using a modem? :-) Keurig Green Mountain had provided us the answer on what this mystery port is...
The “port" on the bottom of the system is similar to the port you would plug a landline phone into in your home. This was included in the new Keurig 2.0 brewers to give the future ability to connect an accessory to give the brewer internet connectivity, should consumers opt in and wish to do so. This port is not currently in use and any future uses are still in the early stages of innovation.
So there you have it. It’s to future proof the Keurig 2.0 and perhaps give us recipes to download or to be able to connect to the Keurig 2.0 over our smartphone for smart home uses. Who knows? What do you think they’ll use the port for in the future?

We reach the end of a long journey today with Part 3 of our 3-part Keurig 2.0 Mega Review where we discuss our main likes, dislikes & nitpicks about the new 2.0 brewers, our discovery of a hidden port under the machine (do we have your attention now?) & our final conclusion about the new 2.0 brewer series.
What did we like?
- Overall design/look of the new brewers. They seem to have a nicer, more modern look which appears to be a fusion of various design cues from the old Keurig 1.0 Series B70 brewers & the Keurig (1.5 Series?) Vue V700 brewers.
- The designing ingenuity which went into creating the retractable K-Cup piercing needle mechanism. As we noted in Part 2 of our Mega Review, this level of design is something we’d be expecting to see come out of Apple’s Cupertino offices… not Keurig Green Mountain. The fact that Legos inspired it further shows that amazing things can come from the most simple of ideas.

We continue today with Part 2 of our 3-part Keurig 2.0 Mega Review (you can read Part I here) by checking out the new menu system, discussing how to brew various packs in the new brewers and we also cover new features which you’ll only find on the new 2.0 brewers. One thing we’d like to tackle before we get started (and something we forgot to mention in Part 1) is how you can determine whether or not K-Cups & Vue Packs are 2.0 compatible before you even open the box.
We’re all familiar with the old Keurig Brewed logo and while most people will think this automatically means they’re getting 2.0 K-Cups or Vue Packs… this is NOT the case. Instead, you now need to look for even NEWER logos on the packaging. The new K-Cup compatibility logo is a colored rectangle with a circled checkmark on top which contains the words “For use in all Keurig K-Cup brewers”. While we’re not entirely 100% certain if boxes featuring this new logo might still contain older 1.0 K-Cups (since the use of the word all can be considered somewhat vague), we can however confirm that all the new boxes with this logo in our latest online orders & in-store purchases DID contain the newer 2.0 K-Cups which feature the Keurig Brewed grey/white ring around the lid.
