Review: Club Coffee Breakfast Supreme Single Cup Capsules

Review Single Serve Coffee breakfast_supreme.jpg

After seeing the simplicity & success other companies have had with pod/K-Cup hybrids (i.e. Rogers Family Coffee Company's San Fransisco Bay One Cups), other coffee roasters are taking note and starting to follow suit. Such is the case with a new Canadian product which recently started appearing online. Today we review a new coffee brand with the Club Coffee Breakfast Supreme Single Cup Capsules.

Club Coffee is based out of Toronto in Ontario Canada. They've been in the coffee roasting business for over 100 years and got their start in 1906. They were acquired by Standard Brands' Food Service division which added a few more coffee brands to their lineup before merging with Nabisco in 1985. They remained part of RJR-Nabisco until being sold to Nestle in 1987 at which point they became part of Nestle FoodServices and remained in that position until being sold to Morrison Lamothe Inc. in 2007.

President's Choice West Coast Dark Roast Gourmet Single Serve Coffee Pods

presidentschoicekeurigcompatiblecapsules.jpg

President's Choice is not content to offer it's own line of Tassimo T-Discs, and has entered the Keurig compatible coffee pod market in Canada. We do find the messaging confusing - are they K-Cup compatible or are they for coffee pod brewers. Well - the devil is in the details. These single serve coffee pods will fit most of the Keurig K-Cup brewers out there, and are very much like the Roger's Family OneCup line of Keurig compatible portion packs.

Grove Square Hot Cocoa Cups Variety Pack

512JpQQRrBL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Over at the forums there's word you can probably waste your hard earned dollar on some Grove Square Hot Cocoa Cups Variety Cups. These cups will work in your Keurig K-Cup brewer, but so far our impressions of Grove Square haven't been all that great. They mostly have been packaging instant coffees, and other hot drinks into K-Cups and the results have been pretty terrible. But if instant is what you want in your coffee cup, then perhaps their instant cocoas are for you. The variety pack features Dark Chocolate, Peppermint, and Milk Chocolate flavors.

Vitamin Burst K-Cups and Sweet & Creamy Iced Coffee K-Cups Help Beat the Summer Heat

Vitamin_Burst_24_CT_Boxes_K_Cups.jpg

Green Mountain is going full steam on their Brew Over Ice offerings this Summer. It's perfectly timed with the heat wave in the US we've been having, and there's two sets of K-Cups - Vitamin Burst K-Cup packs and Sweet & Creamy Iced Coffee K-Cup packs.

Vitamin Burst K-Cup packs contain fruit that is gently dried to retain its active ingredients, and the Keurig brewer unlocks the fruit's power when brewed over ice. Each 8-oz. serving of Vitamin Burst is naturally sweetened, caffeine-free, contains no artificial colors or flavors, and is high in antioxidant vitamin C.

Vitamin Burst is currently available in two fruit flavors:

  • Strawberry Pomegranate: Sun-warmed strawberries are paired with sweet pomegranates to create a delicious fruit brew.
  • Acai Berry: A tasty combination of powerful super-fruit and luscious berries creates a refreshing fruit brew.

starbucksretailkcupsnationwide.jpg

Starbucks Coffee Company has announced that Starbucks K-Cup packs are available in participating Starbucks retail stores nationwide. Starbucks is the exclusive, licensed super-premium coffee brand produced by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. for its Keurig® K-Cup Single Cup Brewers.

We're pretty excited to see how crowded at retail stores Starbucks will be with VIA, K-Cups, VUE Packs, and eventually all things Verismo their new single serve espresso and coffee machine in the Fall. It's an amazing amount of commitment to the single serve coffee space, and if anyone can make it work we believe Starbucks will.

Review: San Francisco Bay Organic Rainforest Blend OneCup Keurig Compatible Coffee Packs

Review Single Serve Coffee

sanfranciscobayorganic_rainforest.JPG

We continue our series of San Francisco Bay OneCup Keurig Compatible Coffee Packs (a.k.a. “OneCups”) today with their San Francisco Bay Organic Rainforest Blend OneCup Keurig Compatible Coffee Packs.

Brewing these OneCup Keurig Compatible Coffee Packs resulted in mild notes of cocoa which seemed to be the only scent we could determine in the final cup. We had been getting used to the smoky aromas in the previous OneCup offerings and were a bit disappointed that the aroma here wasn’t more complex. Billed as a medium to dark roast, flavor revealed more cocoa/milk chocolate taste throughout and an almost woodsy character overall which yielded faint oily flavors on the finish. Very mild nutty notes were also hiding underneath.

Club Coffee K-Cup Compatible Coffee Pods

canadian_one_cup_coffeepods.jpg

Over in the Single Serve Coffee Forums there's word that a Canadian coffee roaster called Club Coffee has just released K-Cup compatible coffee pods. These coffee pods are much like the Rogers' Family Coffee OneCup coffee packs here in the United States. They do not require an adaptor, and have a foil top and coffee pod like pouch bottom.

Each coffee pod contains 10 grams of coffee and they seem to use the same packaged format as the Rogers' Family ones. We'll send our Canadian correspondent to investigate, and from our US intelligence these should be hitting shelves soon.

Review: San Francisco Bay Fog Chaser OneCup Keurig Compatible Coffee Packs

Review Single Serve Coffee

sanfran_fog_chaser_IMGP4600.JPG

We continue our series of San Francisco Bay K-Cup Pods (a.k.a. "OneCups") today with their San Francisco Bay Fog Chaser OneCup Keurig Compatible Coffee Packs

Brewing these K-Cup Pods resulted in some faint smoky aromas during brewing, but once we inspected the final cup, we honestly couldn’t smell anything discernible. It’s like the aroma completely disappeared. Billed as a dark roast on the box (yet a light roast on their website… huh?), flavor was thankfully more robust than the scent with mostly notes of dark chocolate, some smoke & very faint nutty notes hiding underneath as well as some bread notes lurking near the finish.

Sweet & Creamy Nutty Hazelnut and Regular Iced Coffee K-Cup Packs

sweetcream_nutty_regular_kcups.jpg

Summer is coming and Green Mountain is offering new iced coffee K-Cups Sweet & Creamy Nutty Hazelnut Iced Coffee K-Cup Packs and Sweet & Creamy Regular Iced Coffee K-Cup Packs. Made with Donut Shop coffee, Green Mountain brings back the classic donut companion with this ideally balanced brew of the highest quality Arabica beans.

These coffees also run about 80 calories per K-Cup - so expect a little sweetness here right from the K-Cup portion pack. We do really love iced coffee with our Keurig, and not having to make a trip to our local cafe for a sweet iced coffee is going to save us money this summer.

Review: San Francisco Bay French Roast OneCup Keurig Compatible Coffee Packs

Review Single Serve CoffeeIMGP4592.JPG

We continue our series of San Francisco Bay K-Cup Pods (a.k.a. "OneCups") today with their San Francisco Bay French Roast K-Cup Pods. Much like their decaf version, brewing these K-Cup Pods resulted in rich smoky aromas with notes of milk chocolate… yes, MILK chocolate. We were a bit surprised to see a deviation from the norm of dark chocolate aromas which seemed predominant in most dark roasts, so this was a nice & pleasant alternative. Billed as a dark roast, flavor was earthy & smoky with predominant dark chocolate notes up front with faint notes of molasses in the background. We also detected a slight oily taste near the finish, but it wasn’t distracting at all. We found it was kind of an odd pairing between aroma & flavor since we got scents of milk chocolate while having flavors of dark chocolate. Regardless, we liked this subtle nuance & found it make for an interesting cup.
