One question we get all the time is, "What Keurig K Cup Single Serve Coffee Brewer is right for me?" Well, one way to answer that question is on price and features. It's really hard to beat the Keurig B40 Single Serve Coffee brewer at $99 on price, and the features on the Keurig B40 won't turn you away either.
Basically as you go up in price with the Keurig line with the Keurig B60 and B70 you get auto-on, a clock, different brew sizes, and some blue LED and stainless steel accents on the Keurig brewers. If you aren't looking for any of those bells and whistles, then the Keurig B40 is perfect for you (please read our thoughts and impressions on the Keurig B40 and B60 to get even more details).
The Keurig B40 produces the same quality cup of single serve coffee that the Keurig B50, Keurig Special Edition Ultra Elite B60, Keurig B70 Brewer, Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single Cup Brewer, and other Keurig K Cup brewers do.
Here's the list of features of the Keurig B40:
- Two brew sizes: 7.25 and 9.25-oz. cups
- Removable 48-oz. water reservoir
- Easy-clean plastic drip tray
- Automatic shut-off option
- Water level sensor.
We can't but recommend the Keurig B40 for it's value and price. You'll get into the world of single serve coffee for only $99, and you'll have the ability to use over 200+ K Cups and the Reusable My K Cup coffee filter as well.

Nick Lazaris with the Keurig B70 just two years ago.
Single Serve Coffee continues to evolve and change - Nick Lazaris has decided to move on from Keurig. He brought us all of the amazing single serve coffee machines that Keurig had currently shipped, bringing to both the office and home single serve coffee. We wish him well on his endevavours this year, and hopefully he'll continue to stay in the coffee world and perhaps make a new start making interesting products somewhere else.
From the Release:
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. (together with its subsidiary, “the Company” or “GMCR”) (NASDAQ: GMCR), announced today that Nicholas Lazaris, President of Keurig, Incorporated, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GMCR, has resigned to pursue other career opportunities and has entered into a separation and transition agreement with Keurig. Under the terms of this agreement, Mr. Lazaris will continue to serve as President of Keurig until June 16, 2008 or the date on which his successor commences employment, whichever is earlier. To support a smooth transition, Mr. Lazaris will continue to be an employee of Keurig until August 15, 2008, providing assistance as needed. Following his employment, Mr. Lazaris will serve as a consultant in Keurig’s patent infringement litigation pending against Kraft. The Company has retained an executive search firm to assist it in the recruitment of a new President of Keurig.
Mr. Lazaris and the talented Keurig leadership team have made history by leading the evolution in coffee from drip brewing to single-cup brewing. Under Mr. Lazaris’ leadership, Keurig first brought its patented, innovative single-cup brewers to offices in the late 1990s and now is the single-cup market leader in offices. In recent years, Keurig also successfully entered the home market with several new models, again establishing it as the market leader in single-cup brewers. Most recently, a model was introduced for in-room brewing at hotels, further expanding Keurig’s market potential. Keurig has sold over 1.5 million single-cup brewers life-to-date in North America. In turn, these brewers have created demand for over 2.5 billion K-Cups that have been shipped by Keurig’s licensed roasters and enjoyed by gourmet coffee, tea and hot cocoa lovers nationwide.

We recently spent two days at Green Mountain Coffee's Java University (we'll have a full story soon), and found a very interesting K Cup supporting a worthy cause. What was really surprising about the Heifer Hope Blend K Cups is the fact we had no idea the Heifer Hope Blend actually supports livestock sharing, and you'd think we would given the fact we grew up in a dairy farming area in Northern Maine.
The Heifer Hope Blend is from the La Voz cooperative near lake Atitlan in Guatemala, which is one of the coffee communities served by Heifer International. Green Mountain Coffee made this coffee to support Heifer International's goal of providing a sustainable source of income through livestock and training. Heifer International has given millions of families the gifts of self-reliance and hope in this way.
We've now had several single serve coffee cups of the Heifer Hope Blend K Cups, and it's one of the most interesting yet mild roasts we've had in quite some time. The Heifer Hope Blend K Cups will work in your Keurig Elite B40 Brewer, Keurig B50, Keurig Special Edition Ultra Elite B60, Keurig B70 Brewer, Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single Cup Brewer, and other Keurig K Cup brewers.

Spring is here and so are Fair Trade Island Coconut K-Cups. We're not sure what they put in these coconut wonders, but the flavor is incredible. With a nose of coconut, and the lightly roasted taste of grated coconut, you can be sure to enjoy a cup of something different in your single serve coffee cup. We look forward to this coffee each spring, and the Fair Trade Island Coconut K-Cups are available now. We'd also like to note the Fair Trade Spring Revival Blend K-Cups are also now available, and we'll be ordering some for a full review soon.
These K Cups will work in your Keurig Elite B40 Brewer, Keurig B50, Keurig Special Edition Ultra Elite B60, Keurig B70 Brewer, Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single Cup Brewer, and other Keurig K Cup brewers.

We recently visited our local Shaw's supermarket, and was pleasantly surprised to see a rather impressive set of single serve coffee available in the bakery area. Not only was the selection really amazing - over 25+ coffees, but the area was well designed. It's was also really nice to see the Keurig B200 single serve coffee maker

We think any excuse to have the flavors of butter and maple in your mouth each and every morning with about 1/16 the calories is what we call - single serve coffee heaven. Green Mountain has a limited supply of Fair Trade French Toast Coffee K Cups for your Keurig Elite B40 Brewer, Keurig B50, Keurig Special Edition Ultra Elite B60, Keurig B70 Brewer, Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single Cup Brewer, and other Keurig K Cup brewers.
Expect a hint of cinnamon, followed by rich flavors of maple and golden toast butter. The only downside - this coffee may make you hungry for the real thing. Wait? Is that really a downside?
Get them while they last, because the Green Mountain Fair Trade French Toast Coffee K Cups will only be around until March 1st.

The Keurig B130 is the most interesting Keurig single serve coffee maker we've reviewed to date. Right up front we want to make sure you know - the Keurig B130 is only available to hotels or similar businesses that want to offer the use of a single cup K Cup brewer to guests, and that's what makes it the most interesting. Getting rid of those terrible small coffee pots in hotels across the country, and having a perfect cup of single serve coffee simple thrills us.
The design is also really interesting. This Keurig brewer is the smallest Keurig available, and the footprint alone makes it perfect for your camp, camping, travel trailer, or at the office on your desk. That's if Keurig ever releases this brewer to the general public and not just hotels.

We've been sampling the Wicked Winter Blend Extra Bold K Cups for Keurig over the past week. These K Cups are not only extra bold - but extra sweet in flavor and profile. The Wicked Winter Blend Extra Bold K Cup brings together Indonesian coffee with Central and South American beans. The result is a toasty, very caramelly cup with a chocolate body, and an explosion of nutty sweetness in the finish.
What we like? This is Green Mountain's first-ever seasonal coffee offered as an Extra Bold, with 20% more coffee in every K-Cup, and it' Fair Trade too. And you can really taste the difference in each cup.

We want to wish Keurig a happy 10th anniversary in brining the K Cup and Keurig brewers into our coffee cups. It's hard to imagine a time when we didn't have a Keurig single serve coffee machine in our kitchen.
The Keurig has been a staple of the single serve coffee world (you can read our review round-up earlier in the year). The staff here at Single Serve Coffee have featured many articles and reviews on the Keurig line of single serve coffee makers, and the k cups which deliver amazing single serve coffee each day. We've done a Review of the Keurig B40, B50, B60, B70, and even the Keurig B100. We've also featured Keurig K Cup Reviews and News. We've even done an entire set of reviews for the Keurig Reuseable K Cup Filter where you can use your own coffee for the Keurig single serve coffee maker.
And earlier this year Keurig and Breville teamed up to bring us the amazing Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single Cup Brewer.
Again - congratulations to Keurig on an amazing achievement - staying in business for 10 year isn't easy to do, and we hope we're around to see your next 10 years in the single serve coffee world.
