New K-Cups coming From Tully's Coffee

Topnav Logo-2We're pretty excited here at Single Serve Coffee.com to see Keurig add another roaster to it's AAA+ list of K-Cup makers. We've visited a Tully's Coffee when we were in Arizona and also in California. Tully's does helm though from Washington State so if you're in the Seattle area - you must check them out.

Tully's coffees are usually very dark rich - interesting coffee's including Kona blends and most of their coffees have an almost smoky feel to them. According to Jim Evans at CoffeeWhiz.com all the Tully's K-Cups will be the extra-bold K-Cups containing 11.5 grams of coffee in each K-Cup.

Full release after the jump.

New Winter Classic Blend & Golden French Toast K-Cups from Green Mountain

Kcup Assorted LargeGreen Mountain has introduced two new K-Cups for your Keurig brewer to keep you a little warmer and cozier over the cold winter months.

T4031 LargeStarting with their new Winter Classic Blend which brings together the warmth and subtle earthiness of Indonesian coffee with the mellow brightness of Central and South American beans. We have to admit the new blend does sound very interesting. The expected result? A toasty, subtly caramelly cup with a smooth, rounded body and a hint of nutty sweetness in the finish.

If this is even close to the Holiday Blend, then we'll be sold. We really enjoyed the Holiday Blend K-Cups and found it to be an excellent cup of coffee.

T4034 Large-1Now the Golden French Toast sounds even wilder!

"This coffee makes me sooooo hungry! I get hungry just thinking about it. Reminds me of thick French toast smothered in butter and cinnamon-infused Vermont maple syrup. Yummy and fun!"

We'll be reviewing these K-Cups in the next few weeks and should have a full run down of our impressions of these new K-Cups from Green Mountain.

Review: My K-Cup Keurig Reusable Filter

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod Reviews MykcupWant to use your own coffee in your Keurig home brewer? Look no further than the My K-Cup Keurig Reusable Filter filter. The reusable K-Cup® filter assembly allows you to use your own gourmet ground coffee in your Keurig® brewer. The My K-Cup Keurig Reusable Filter will work in your Keurig Elite B40 Brewer, Keurig B50, Keurig Special Edition Ultra Elite B60, Keurig B70 Brewer, and the Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single Cup Brewer.

Images-1-5The reusable K-Cup filter is also now available to the general public via Green Mountain Coffee's web site. You can purchase both the reusable K-Cup assembly and extra filters. We received just an assembly and one filter for testing but can tell if you really wanted to enjoy this for a couple of cups of coffee in the morning having an extra filters will make repeat cups of coffee much easier.

Img 2011We embarked on our first round of testing using Pete's House Blend coffee. We frequent Pete's Coffee Shop in Harvard Square here in Cambridge, MA all the time and know that special flavor you get from any Pete's Coffee. How would the My K-Cup Keurig Reusable Filter do when brewing up a cup of coffee? How hard would it be to fill? What would the mess be like? How hard would the clean up be?

Update: You can now purchase the My K-Cup Keurig Reusable Filter at Green Mountain Coffee Roaster's web site.

Review: Green Mountain Fair Trade Gingerbread K-Cups

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod ReviewsImg 1611We can clearly remember the first time we laid eyes on a gingerbread house. We can also clearly remember the first time we got to build a gingerbread house with our grandparents and taste the gingerbread, gumdrops, and icing as we built the gingerbread house. Drinking a cup of Gingerbread coffee from these new flavored K-Cups will bring all the memories like these rushing back.
Images-7We fired up our new Keurig Elite Edition B60 and sat back with a cup of Gingerbread coffee. We used the medium setting on the Keurig B60 and also tried the new Gingerbread coffee with a generous helping of creme and sugar.

When testing any new coffee, we like to benchmark it against other coffees we've tried. The entire Single Serve Coffee team has really been enjoying the Hazelnut Creme and the Mocha Nut Fudge K-Cups as well and hoped the Gingerbread would hold up.

Keurig Elite B40 & Special Edition B60 Impressions

Img 1363
B60-Sm

Thanks to the folks at Green Mountain, we received the new Keurig Elite B40 and Special Edition B60 to review. We've been furiously running mountains of K-Cups through the B40 and B60 to judge which new Keurig we like the best. We've also been running K-Cups through all of the Keurigs - B40, B50, and B60 to ensure they all make a consistent cup of coffee.

Here's how we did the testing:

  • We are currently doing some consulting work for the Fall at a local video game company so we took the Keurig Elite B40 there to get impressions and use the Keurig in a new setting
  • We replaced the B50 in our kitchen with the B60 and have made this our daily brewer besides the coffee's we've been testing on other machines
  • We used the B50 to compare the coffee flavors using Sumatra Extra Dark and Hazelnut Creme K-Cups prior to splitting up the triplets for comparison.

Reusable Coffee Filter for Keurig

My K Cup Box[3]As we reported last night, Keurig has released a Special Edition B60 only at Williams Sonoma that comes with a reusable filter. The filter will not be available to other Keurig buyers or other online merchants until 2006. When released to other merchants besides Williams Sonoma, the Keurig reusable filter will work in your Keurig B-40 Elite, Keurig B50 Gourmet, Keurig B-60 Special Edition.

Update: : The Keurig Resusable filter is now available at Amazon.com.

"...use either disposable K-Cups or a reusable K-Cup and filter basket (included) that allow you to use your favorite ground coffee...."

My K Cup Device[3]
Filter comes in 3 pieces

Everyone here at Single Serve Coffee thinks the reusable filter is a great way to get customers over the hump of buying a Single Serve Coffee maker. How many times have you told someone about your single serve machine and had them say I'm not buying a single serve machine because I can't use my own coffee. Well, now that problem is gone for new buyers. Sure, they'll buy the Keurig B60 with reusable filter knowing they can use their own coffee, but in the end they'll want the convenience of the K-Cups.

A special thanks to Jeff for sending in pictures of the filter. More after the jump.

Keurig B60 Special Edition with Reusable Coffee Filter

Img6MJust when we thought things couldn't get stranger in the single serve coffee world, we have found out via the forums that Keurig is selling an exclusive K-Cup filter basket with the B60 at Williams Sonoma. The filter basket allows you to use your own ground coffee when using the B60 instead of only allowing K-Cups.

"...use either disposable K-Cups or a reusable K-Cup and filter basket (included) that allow you to use your favorite ground coffee...."

Now we've used a re-useable filter before with the Senseo, and it was a short lived fantasy of wanting to get fresh roasted coffee beans, grind them, and also clean and use the Cafe Filter - isn't that regular coffee and not single serve coffee? How does the William's Sonoma coffee filter fair? We'll be getting one as soon as we can from Keurig and should have a full report in the coming weeks.

Review: Timothy's World Coffee Rainforest Espresso Extra Bold K-Cups

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod ReviewsLibrary - 7538Timothy's World Coffee has sent us their new Timothy's Rainforest Espresso Extra Bold K-Cups for us to review. We've also been trying out various other Timothy's coffees over the past few weeks and have to admit how much we've enjoyed them all.

Timothy's Rainforest Espresso Extra Bold K-Cups are in the new Keurig K-Cup format that has up to 25% more coffee packed into a single K-Cup. At an 8 oz setting you can truly tell the difference in a cup of Keurig single serve coffee versus a traditional K-Cup without the extra coffee.

The Rainforest Espresso Extra Bold K-Cups have 15% more coffee than the regular Timothy's Rainforest espresso blend. We like the extra amount of flavor this cup of coffee packs. Right away you can smell the coffee and we also mixed our 8 oz cup of Rainforest Espresso with milk and a little sugar to bring out the sweet flavors the Rainforest Espresso delivers.
