Melitta is asking for your opinion on what coffee pod flavors you'd like them to launch this Spring. You can vote at their Facebook page from the following choices:
There's a new Melitta One:One single serve coffee pod brewer in town - the Melitta MES5B Javapod Single Serve Coffee Brewer System. It's nice to see Melitta join the rest of the single serve coffee pod world, and offer a brewer with a reduced price and the ability to use any 62mm coffee pod. The machine has been totally redesigned from the earlier Melitta One:One - one of the first coffee pod brewers available in the US, and we think many of the choices in the new design are quite good.
The box design and machine are more straight forward than the earlier One:One
One of the big changes is the ability to use a single pod or use the double pod holder. Also the electronics are a bit different - with brew sizes in the 5, 8, and 14 oz range. We wish they would have gone with 12 oz - on the 14 oz size it's hard to get a really good cup of single serve coffee, but overall these changes are nice additions. The hidden cord storage is nice, and the overall footprint of the machine is on par with other single serve coffee makers, but a bit narrower.
We promised you an unboxing of the Melitta MES5B Javapod Single Pod Coffee Brewer System, and we keep our word. The unit comes packed with very little except what you need to brew a cup of single serve coffee using a coffee pod. We do like the overall design, and the coffee pod holders, along with the brewing chamber are nicely designed.
The Melitta MES5B Javapod Single Pod Coffee Brewer System is in the Single Serve Coffee test kitchen, and so far we like what we see. The box design is a little less interesting than the older Melitta One:One, but the double and single coffee pod holders should excite the monster coffee pod drinker within you. We'll have a full unboxing soon.
The MES5B comes with both single and double coffee pod holders.
Melitta MES5B - Single Pod Coffee Brewer System Features:
Brews Directly Into 1 or 2 Travel Mugs
Auto Shut-off After Brewing
Removable Cone-Shaped Filter Basket (we're not sure on this one)
Removable 40-oz. metered water tank
2.2 bar steam pump produces rich, full bodied coffee
A good pecan pie is hard to beat, and we imagine a cup of pecan pie coffee is unbeatable! Reminiscent of a traditional southern pecan pie, a luscious blend of toasted pecans, cinnamon & sweet maple brown sugar. They come packed 18 coffee pods per box and weigh in at **9 grams. The 55mm pod will fit your Senseo, Bunn My Cafe, Melitta One:One, and Krups Home Cafe single serve coffee pod brewers.
It's the second coming of all things Melitta One: One! Creme Brulee coffee pods are now available for the Melitta One:One. We're not sure if these pods will work in your Senseo, Home Cafe, or Bunn My Cafe - but they might. Described as "rich vanilla cream & sweet caramel blended with our premium dark roastesd coffee" and packed in an 18 count box - we're very anxious to try these new coffee pods from Melitta.
According to CoffeeWhiz.com it's been over 2 years since Melitta has released new coffee pods for the One:One and they're right. We reviewed the One:One just over 2 years ago and have they have never released any new flavors.
Get 'em while you can. We'll follow up on these and see what other single serve coffee machines they'll work in.
Sometimes we post something that gets so into Google and other search engines that you couldn't imagine the types of comments it can dredge up, or needs it would fulfill, or better yet the shear power the entry would have in bringing people in need together - especially coffee drinkers.
Last year we posted that the maker of Melitta One:One - Salton Inc. was having a few financial difficulties. It was one of those posts we put up to keep everyone here at Single Serve Coffee.com aware of the choices they've been making when buying a single serve coffee machine. Now if you Google "salton trouble" - we end up being #1. From being #1 in just about every search engine, the post has brought together over 99+ commenters who have missing manuals, need spare parts, and all kinds of other interesting tidbits.
We've called Salton several times and they're always interested in helping out everyone which is great. We've even updated the post with the phone number and email and the comments keep coming and you know what? We'll take them. It's pretty exciting to help so many people out, and perhaps after they get the manual, they'll finally be able to make a perfect cup of single serve coffee.
FYI: Salton replacement parts and owners manuals can be ordered at 800-233-9054 or by emailing Consumer Relations at: consumer_relations@toastmaster.com
You've got to see this gem of a commercial for the MelittaOne:One Single Serve Coffee Maker. After getting no less than 10 emails about it we ventured over to FlickeringIgloo and had a viewing. Genius. We do believe this will make your morning and your morning cup of coffee every time. :-)
We've been testing the LilyPod over the past several weeks and we'll say this right up front - results have been varied. The LilyPod Microwave Brew Mug supposedly brews up a nice cup of joe in 3 minutes or and that means less mess and the convenience of using whatever flavor pod you'd like to throw into it. The big factor here is the microwave.
We have had less than stunning results with the Single Serve Coffee.com microwave but have had better results at our friends house. Each time we use the Lilypod with the exact directions and try a microwave the results have been different. It's like we're making microwave popcorn and not coffee, but we do believe it makes sense the results are so varied.
If you've ever cooked in a microwave oven anything like popcorn, perhaps a Lean Cuisine, or even poached some eggs - you'll know that finding the right power setting and time to cook is important for YOUR MICROWAVE. We have found this to be the case with the LilyPod. We simply could not find a great setting for our Microwave but did find some decent ones with other less powerful microwave ovens. That being said, the coffee produced each time was not great coffee.
What's better than single serve coffee? Well - single serve microwave coffee! We're not totally sure on that just yet, but the new LiliPod Microwave Coffee Pod Brew Mug has arrived - actually two of them.
We purchased both the red and the blue one just because we have to have them. We never thought that after a year we'd have a microwave single serve coffee mug and it's well - exciting. The LilyPod Microwave Brew Mug supposedly brews up a nice cup of joe in 3 minutes or so and that means less mess and whatever flavor pod you'd like to throw into it. Nice. We'll have a full review in the next week or so. And - YES - it says you can make espresso and cappuccino in it. We'll be the judge of that.
Now we're talking. Everyone here at Single Serve Coffee was wondering when someone would figure you might be able to brew up a single serve cup of coffee using a single mug. It looks like Melitta has figured it out with their new Melitta One:One Microwaveable Coffee Pod Mug Brewer. The mugs come in both red and blue and will make coffee, espresso (can it really make espresso?), and tea by inserting a pod into the mug and microwaving for 2-3 minutes. The mug comes with 18 Melitta Javapods when you order it from Melitta online.
We'll be tracking down some of these mugs and expect a full review soon.
