Recently Jay asked me to test out the Arabica Express Podhead.com coffee pods for the Melitta One:One. I've done a few reviews for Single Serve Coffee.com over the past year including a re-review of the Melitta One:One so I know this machine intimately. Actually the Melitta One:One is my daily coffee machine of choice and I look forward to the red little wonder every morning.
Jay was paricularly interested in seeing how the coffee pods did with the Melitta One: One. He had recently done a review of the Podhead.com AE Sensation coffee pods using the Bunn My Cafe and loved them. So Sit back, relax, grab a cup, and I'll tell you all about my experience the Arabica Express Coffee Pods for the Melitta One:One:

JavaPodz was kind enough to send us an extensive sampler pack of all of their pods. We decided this morning to fire up the Senseo and have a go with the new pods. JavaPodz are compatible with the following systems (mostly of the 62mm variety):
- Philips Senseo™
- B&D® Home Cafe™
- Mr.Coffee® Home Cafe™
- Melitta One: One Pod Brewing System
- Bunn® MyCafe™
- AquaBrew® Cafejo™
- Grindmaster® PrecisionBrew™
- Juan Valdez Pod Brewing System
The pods came packed in a coffee bag with a JavaPodz logo applied with a sticker on the front of the bag. Inside each JavaPodz pod is individually wrapped in a silver foil bag with black printing. Like Baronet, JavaPodz pods are:

"I've been back in Kansas City this week, visiting my family and taking care of some business, and have had a chance to use their Melitta One:One coffee maker, which uses individual coffee 'pods' to brew a cup at a time. It's a great concept, especially for someone with a coffee intake like mine. At home, I usually brew about 6-8 cups of drip coffee each morning, letting it simmer all day until it reaches a point where it is so toxic I can't choke it down. With the One:One, I'm able to brew a new cup of coffee each time, which is definitely a better taste sensation. Also, i don't feel like I'm wasting so much coffee at the end of the day, although I'm sure with the increased price of the Pods (about $5 for 18) it works out to be about the same."

Could the maker of the Melitta Single Serve Coffee maker be in trouble? Will this pave the way for Keurig and Senseo?
"Stock in Lake Forest-based Salton Inc., distributor of the popular George Foreman grill and Westinghouse home appliances, plummeted 50 percent after the company said lagging sales will force it to restructure its U.S. operations and reduce marketing costs.
Salton has long depended on the Foreman grill, whose sales have dropped in the United States as the product ages, while overseas they've grown. The company recently added new product lines, including a single-serve coffee maker and a cordless vacuum. It also markets other home appliance, lighting, personal care and wellness products under the Westinghouse, Toastmaster, Melitta and Stiffel brands.
Update: Salton replacement parts and owners manuals can be ordered at 800-233-9054 or by emailing consumer_relations@toastmaster.com
