Adjusting Brew Strength on the Senseo

MinidaaroEver wanted to adjust the brew strength of your single serve coffee brewer? This is not for the faint of heart. You are going to need tools, the ability to speak Dutch, and yes - a Senseo. You are also going to need to make sure and have that last cup of Senseo coffee from your beloved machine if anything does in fact go wrong. And, we are pretty sure this voids the warranty.

"...The website below is written in Dutch, but looking at the pictures is enough. Assuming you have a newer Senseo, just look at the pictures of the machine that's white or gray on the bottom. Within the red box in the pictures you'll see an indentation in the bottom of the machine. You'll need some needle-nose pliers to break off that little tab that's sticking up. This will reveal a little plastic washer. Ideally you need a hex driver, but the right-size screwdriver will do. Turn to the left for less water/stronger coffee, turn to the right for more water/weaker coffee."

Dorm essentials: Senseo Single Serve Coffee Maker

We found this rather cute article on dorm essentials at the Post Gazette. We couldn't agree with them more on having a Senseo in college. I happened to live in a co-op for part of my college living experience, and I would have killed for a Senseo over the coffee sludge downstairs often tainted with cinnamon! People were always trying to put stuff into the coffee grounds to "enhance" the flavor and I couldn't stand it. Just give me a perfect cup of coffee - oh Senseo, where were you in my college years!

"Hot coffee is another thing that most college students need in the morning, but the cost of a daily Starbucks can add up quickly. The no-fuss Senseo coffee maker ($70) brews one or two servings of coffee directly into the cup in just 30 seconds using pre-measured "pods" of coffee. This compact machine, which comes in bright blue, red or black, also turns off automatically after an hour so you don't have to worry about accidentally leaving it on all day. A bag of 72 individual coffee pods costs about $18 at Target."

Europe: Senseo Launches New Forbidden Fruits Coffee Pods

Raving Images-5 Senseo is launching their new Forbidden fruits range. There will be 3 blends of coffee infused with fruit including in the picture - RAVING Reds! From what we can tell the flavors look to be Raspberry (Raving Red), Orange (Buzzer?) and one other fruit flavor. I hope we can see these stateside soon.

I was able to find a German site with some more info: Douwe Egberts SENSEO offers to you with "Forbidden Fruits " a completely new and daring coffee experience. Experience, how surprising taste can be, and can you from the unexpected combination of freshly gebruehtem coffee and intensive, fruchtigen and spicy flavours be enticed.

Senseo Coming to an American Bed & Breakfast Near You

Brilliant. In all my travels through Europe, there was always either a Senseo or some other little coffee machine in the room. Though only the Senseo coffee was amazing, it was great to see and taste all the other coffees. Now iLoveInns.com has teamed up with Sara Lee to install 2000 Senseos and sample 700,000 coffee pods to tourists in bed and breakfasts across the US. Knowing I might get a better cup of coffee at a B&B - that might make me stay in them more often.

The other really cool thing about this piece of news, they also seem to be sampling new blends for feedback! Perhaps they will sample a breakfast blend?

Senseo City Sensations Coffee Pods Review

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod ReviewsImg 0132 1When Senseo launched in the US - it only had Light, Medium, and Dark Roast pods. In Europe, they had a plethora of pod flavors and everyone here in the US was just plain jealous and wanting more flavors. Well, Senseo has finally come out with more pod flavors in the US!

The New Senseo Pod Flavors

There are 3 new flavors within the Senseo City Sensations line:

I'm surprised that they went for all flavored coffees, but not when I called my mom to get her impressions. My mom and dad both love flavored coffees, and even use flavored creamer. My mom was pumped that these would be available and also that they would fit her Senseo machine. She also said after trying them - that they were all very yummy.

So - my Mom loves them - what would we think?

Senseo To Accommodate Larger Sized Mugs

P35723ZLooks like you large mug toting Single Serve Coffee drinkers will get your prayers answered. This Fall, The Senseo will be updated with a new shorter spout to accommodate larger sized mugs.

Single Serve Coffee.com: Will there be an update to the Senseo this Fall?

Senseo: As you know, we have 94% of Senseo purchasers that say they are very or extremely satisfied with Senseo. With that said, we are making a change that we expect to bring this number even higher. We will be shortening the spout to accommodate larger coffee mugs. The new height will allow the consumer to fit over 90% of coffee mugs underneath the spout.

That's great news! I can't say that I don't love my Senseo almost completely, but I could love it even more if it fit a larger sized mug. I'll have even more updates from my discussion with the Senseo folks soon.

Senseo City Sensations Arrive for Review

Img 0131Well - it seemed to take forever but the City Sensations arrived for review. I've already had a nice cup this morning of the Paris - Vanilla flavored blend.

The most surprising thing - the packaging. It's really quite nice. Expect a full review later in the week.
