Contata and Kaldi Single Serve Coffee, Tea, and Espresso Machines from CBTL

contata_black_Large_kaldi_blue.jpg

We recently received the Kalda single serve coffee, tea, and espresso machine from CBTL, but wanted to also tell you about the Contata machine that is a bit more compact and a bit different in the aesthetic design than Kaldi.

What's interesting is the the color difference and how the Contata which is only 1 inch less deep really does look different. Also if you prefer black over a bright blue coffee, tea, and espresso machine on your counter the Contata may be for you. The Contata is also $20 cheaper at $129 versus the Kaldi for $149.

Whichever you choose they both have the full feature set below. Personally we like the Kaldi because it's just so bright and round, and we do like the Contata but that sleek black smaller design is currently filled by our Nespresso Essenza.

Both the Kaldi and the Contata Single Serve Coffee, Tea, and Espresso Machines feature:

  • automatic proportioning
  • accommodates variety of cup sizes
  • easy capsule insertion & automatic ejection
  • used capsule drawer holds 10 spent capsules
  • removable water tank capacity
  • electronic temperature control
  • energy saving function
  • maximum pump pressure 15 bar
  • diagnostic lights

Nespresso Pixie Launches at Williams Sonoma

nespresso_pixie_1.jpg

As our sister site Single Serve Espresso has teased, the Nespresso Pixie is now available at Williams Sonoma nationwide and online. The Nespresso Pixie is a multi-colored Nespresso single serve coffee and espresso machine that utilizes Nespresso's coffee capsule system. We saw the Pixie in person, and the industrial design is striking. The Pixie is also not that much smaller than the Nespresso Citiz but it is indeed Pixie in size.

Review: Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG1 K-Cup Single Serve Brewing System

Review Single Serve Coffee41GQydnxusL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

The Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG1 Single Serve Brewing System was released this past Fall, and we've just spent the last 3 weeks using it as our main K-Cup brewer. Like the Keurig Mini Plus, this is a pourover model allowing you to get one single serve coffee mug's worth of water and then brewing one cup of coffee using a K-Cup. Having a reservoir might be a concern for those who want to brew multiple cups of coffee one after the other, but for most coffee drinkers having one cup of perfect coffee in the morning is the priority and the Mr. Coffee single serve brewing system delivers cup after single serve coffee cup.

41O9JgfN5KL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

It looks like the Cuisinart SS-700 brewer is being marketed under the SS-780 and the SS-780PC model numer. The brewer is an updated SS-700 with ultra-quiet brew technology from Keurig that uses K-Cups and the Reusable My K-Cup. The Cuisinart SS-780 is identical to the SS-700 but it does come with a larger selection of K-Cups in the Costco offering (check out the SSC Forums post for details).

Hands-on Review: Coava Coffee Disk filter for the Aeropress Single Serve Coffee Maker

coava_disk-580x386.jpg

The staff over at Geek.com have a rather extensive review of the Coava Cofee Disk filter for Aeropress (you can read our review of the Aeropress here). Coava Coffee metal filter remove the need for the use of paper filters, and also give you a more french pressed cup of single serve coffee from the Aeropress.

The Coava Coffee Disk was designed to fit perfectly in the place of Aeropress' normal paper filters. The brew process is the same but you'll want to adjust your grind to compensate for the new filter. Check out their full review at Geek.com.
