Dorm essentials: Senseo Single Serve Coffee Maker

We found this rather cute article on dorm essentials at the Post Gazette. We couldn't agree with them more on having a Senseo in college. I happened to live in a co-op for part of my college living experience, and I would have killed for a Senseo over the coffee sludge downstairs often tainted with cinnamon! People were always trying to put stuff into the coffee grounds to "enhance" the flavor and I couldn't stand it. Just give me a perfect cup of coffee - oh Senseo, where were you in my college years!

"Hot coffee is another thing that most college students need in the morning, but the cost of a daily Starbucks can add up quickly. The no-fuss Senseo coffee maker ($70) brews one or two servings of coffee directly into the cup in just 30 seconds using pre-measured "pods" of coffee. This compact machine, which comes in bright blue, red or black, also turns off automatically after an hour so you don't have to worry about accidentally leaving it on all day. A bag of 72 individual coffee pods costs about $18 at Target."

Review: Krups 1010 Home Cafe Pod Brewing Machine

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod Reviews P2070396DtThe Home Cafe line of single serve and one cup brewing machines has been in need of an update since launch. Many readers and myself were disappointed in the first offerings in the Home Cafe line of single serve brewers. Readers reported and continue to report many issues with the Black & Decker line of Home Cafe machines, and this hasn't helped the entire single serve coffee phenomenon.

Last Roll - 23It's too bad the Home Cafe line didn't have the new Krups 1010 Home Cafe Pod Brewing Machine at launch. We will cut right to the chase here, this machine is light years ahead of the former Home Cafe pod brewing machines and we think overall Krups has the start of something very promising in the Home Cafe line.

The Krups KP1010 Home Cafe Brewing Machine is compatible with most coffee pods and also utilizes the Cappuccino coffee pods available from Folgers.

Review: Gourmet Coffee Café Single Serve Brewer from Lexxus International

Cafe-1Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod ReviewsCharlie Golick, a Lexxus International representative sent us in the newly released Gourmet Coffee Café to review. The Gourmet Coffee Café is a single serve coffee pod brewer utilizing an espresso, coffee, and tea pod holder. You'll be able to order the Gourmet Coffee Café pods from Lexxus International representatives.

Gourmet Coffee Café - 08-1

One of the things that distinguishes the Gourmet Coffee Café from other single serve coffee brewers is the ability to make espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, regular coffee, and teas all from one single serve coffee brewer. The Gourmet Coffee Café has a milk frother on the side that allows for well - milk frothing. This little innovation makes the Gourmet Coffee Café the only single serve coffee brewer we know of with this innovation.

Gourmet Coffee Cafe Arrives for Review

Library - 6546Charles Golick, a Lexxus International representative of the Gourmet Coffee Cafe system has sent in a machine for review along with a bunch of pods. We first found out about this story last month. Apparently they are just starting to ship the Gourmet Coffee System in the US.

If you don't know that much about the company Lexxus International - either did we. After a little digging we found Lexxus offers home based business opportunities to people wanting to sell and represent Lexxus products.

We will be reviewing the Gourmet Coffee Cafe over the next few weeks and will run it through all the Single Serve Coffee test plans we can think of.

Nespresso Romeo Single Serve Espresso Maker

Nespresso Romeo - 1We've been trying to get our hands on a Nespresso machine for a few weeks now. This is in the same league of cost and machine as the FrancisFrancis!, and more like the Keurig or Tassimo machine because of the Nespresso cup/pod that the machine uses. The new Romeo is quite the machine - inspired from Romeo & Juliet. As you can see in the picture - you put the Nespresso pod in the machine at the top, and the coffee comes out to meet your cup below.

Very cool. :-)

Update: Read our full review of the Nespresso Romeo from Single Serve Coffee.com
