New Krups Home Café Coming in June 2005

Krups Home CafeThe Krups Home Café system will offer unique features including dual-cup capacity, several cup-size options and a built-in water filtration system. The Krups Home Café model can brew either one or two cups of coffee at a time, and with two independent pod holders, each cup can be a different variety of creamy or black coffee.

The original Home Café machines have received mixed reviews from us and from Single Serve Coffee readers (we reviewed the Mr. Coffee Home Café and the Black & Decker Home Café machines). I'm hoping that many of the issues with the first Home Café macines have been fixed, and so far - it looks like many have.

We should receive a review machine in the mid-late June time frame, and will let you know when this new single serve coffee machine arrives.

Senseo To Accommodate Larger Sized Mugs

P35723ZLooks like you large mug toting Single Serve Coffee drinkers will get your prayers answered. This Fall, The Senseo will be updated with a new shorter spout to accommodate larger sized mugs.

Single Serve Coffee.com: Will there be an update to the Senseo this Fall?

Senseo: As you know, we have 94% of Senseo purchasers that say they are very or extremely satisfied with Senseo. With that said, we are making a change that we expect to bring this number even higher. We will be shortening the spout to accommodate larger coffee mugs. The new height will allow the consumer to fit over 90% of coffee mugs underneath the spout.

That's great news! I can't say that I don't love my Senseo almost completely, but I could love it even more if it fit a larger sized mug. I'll have even more updates from my discussion with the Senseo folks soon.

Gourmet Coffee Café

CafeAnnouncing the Gourmet Coffee Café! A pod brewer with a unique twist - it's got a milk-steamer! The Gourmet Coffee Café also has a coffee club. This machine seems to use coffee pods but also they offer tea pods for use in the brewer. I think we are going to see many more machines of this type, as the lines blur between the ESE machines and the single serve brewers.

Also of note, you really need to watch the 30 second demo reel of the Gourmet Coffee Cafe. I don't think I've ever seen a 3D/Real World demo clip of a machine quite as entertaining.

Tassimo News from Reader

Tassimo LargeNews is filtering in as Kraft prepares to launch the Tassimo in the U.S. this Fall. I've been sifting through the reader mails and comments and this post has the most information I've seen yet.

P. Love writes in about the Tassimo:

"Just had the opportunity to see and taste the espresso, coffee, tea and hot chocolate line available wtih the Tassimo Coffee Machine. I am in love! Great for family or small office applications. We even experimented and made a cafe mocha! According to the info I was given, the product will be available through major retailers this fall, in the US at a price of $169.00. The water carafe will be larger that the one on the European model and will have a filtration system. The machines ran non stop at the FMI Trade Show, held recently in Chicago, IL.

According to those working the show there were very few problems with the machine, even running them all the time. The single serve disks will be packaged 8 or 16 to a package and the average cup of espresso will be approximately .30 a cup. (Compare that to Starbucks!) The tassimo will also accomodate travel mugs as well as your small espresso or demitasse cup. I can't wait! It is already on my wish list!"

Java Nirvana In Your Kitchen

Image611921L CBS News | Java Nirvana In Your Kitchen | March 21, 2005 13:00:03:
This Museum-of-Modern-Art-style pod machine controls the temperature of the water, the type of grind of the coffee, how long the water is exposed to the coffee, and locks in the flavor with the frothy layer. In addition to the existing pods, new pods developed for Senseo will hit the market this spring. They are Killarney Irish Creamery, Paris Vanilla Bistro and Vienna Hazelnut Waltz. Current flavors: Dark, Medium, Light, and Decaf roasts. Senseo retails for 69.99. A bag of 18 pods costs $3.99-$4.99. That's 22-28 cents a cup.

Review: Bunn My Café Commercial Grade Pod Brewer

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod ReviewsMc Front 03-1Bunn introduced the Bunn My Cafe Commercial Grade Pod Brewer earlier this year, and as always we were excited to see what Bunn had to offer. Bunn has been making drip coffee makers since 1972. The big difference in their home machines is a heated reservoir that when you pour cold water in the machine, it displaces the hot water in the tank for an almost instant pot of fresh brewed coffee. Also the founder of Bunn coffee created the first coffee paper filters in 1957. So - if you have a company that has instant cup of coffee knowledge combined with coffee filter knowledge - surely Bunn would hit the nail square on the head with a Commercial Grade coffee brewer, and best of all they do.

Update 12/10/10: There is a new My Cafe Model - the Bunn My Cafe MC Model Coffee Pod Brewer available. Read our review here.
