We really love single serve coffee so, when we found out Nespresso was jumping into the dual coffee and espresso wagon we we’re beyond excited. Sure we love a cup of espresso, but we often like a shot of espresso in our single serve cup of coffee. The Nespresso VertuoLine Single Serve Coffee and Espresso Maker is the first Nespresso machine that makes a great cup of coffee or espresso. Each capsule is perfectly measured so that you get a uniformed brew each and every time, and when you put an espresso capsule in the Vertuo it will make espresso. If you use a larger coffee capsule it will make a larger cup of coffee.

We often don’t associate ground coffee you scoop with single serve coffee makers, but the Hamilton Beach 49981A Single Serve Scoop Coffee Maker makes coffee right after you scoop. You can brew your own ground coffee with single-serve scoop filter, and brew up to a 14oz cup of coffee into a travel mug or coffee cup. The brewer is made of stainless steel, and has a built in coffee stand for travel mugs.
We’ve always enjoyed the various coffee makers from Hamilton Beach, and there’s always their Brew Station coffee maker if you want a more on demand option.

Over at Fast Company Alan Adler inventor of the Aeropress has a really extensive Q&A on the Aeropress. It’s no doubt the Aeropress is one of the most popular single serve coffee makers, and also one of the best. We reviewed the Aeropress back in 2006, and it’s still one of our go-to single serve coffee makers. Why? It makes an amazing cup of coffee, and it only requires minimal interaction to get a perfect cup of coffee every time.
The Q&A also has some info on Alan Adler’s earlier days as a toy designer. If you didn’t know he invented the Aerobie frisbee, and other toys. Head over to Fast Company for the full read, and yes those are male enhancing devices with the Aeropress in the middle. Choose your coffee press wisely...

Remington iCup will be the first single-serve coffee brewing system to use rotational SteamBrew technology. iCup is a breakthrough technology for the single-serve brewer industry, providing a superior tasting cup of coffee as compared with your favorite Keurig K-Cup or K-type equivalent.
iCup uses iCoffee's patented rotational SteamBrew technology to steam and stir the coffee grounds in all Keurig and K-type compatible cups. This rotational brewing technology creates a brewing environment that extracts rich, smooth flavors without the bitter-acidic aftertaste often associated with drip and single-serve coffee brewers. We’ve never used the iCoffee drip brewer but we have read many reviews saying how amazing it is.
The iCup will accept all K-Cups - including the new Keurig 2.0 cups. How does the iCup work? The iCup uses a patent-pending rotational jet inside the K-Cup that steams and stirs the coffee at the optimum brewing temperature to release maximum flavor.

AB has found some the Keurig K45 line has expanded to offer more color options.
From AB: While at Wal-Mart in Brewer Maine I came across a White Elite brewer. This is the first time I have seen a color variation for K45. Keurig currently offers different colors for the Mini and Platinum. Doing some research on Keurig.com I discovered that they now offer 4 colors: Black, Patriot Blue, Coconut White, and Rhubarb (red).
On the Keurig website they run $119.99 with free shipping. I find it odd that with the impending rollout of the Keurig 2.0 they would produce this model in different colors. Why expand on a model that in theory will be obsolete when the new line is launched. My thought is that they will keep both lines active for sometime and phase out the VUE.
We concur on the expansion of this line with the eventual phase out of these brewers. We’re also starting to wonder how Keurig will keep the brewers available but then cut over to the Keurig 2.0 later this year. We also recommend if you want to use a non DRM version of a Keurig brewer getting one of these brewers now makes more sense. The Keurig 2.0 will have built in DRM and only work with Keurig licensed K-Cups.
You can also find the Keurig K45 in various colors on Amazon.com.
