Imus and Tassimo Tie-Up One of The Better Promos Around

Tassimo-1

If you'd like to get a FREE Tassimo looks like all you need to do is be a guest on Imus and at the end of the be the guest he thought was the best of the day. Hmmm...we seriously doubt we'll get on the show and get a FREE Tassimo but maybe someday.

I don't know if Kraft is selling a lot of Tassimo coffeemakers yet, but I will say that the deal they cooked up with syndicated morning DJ Don Imus is one of the more effective deals of its kind I've come across.

Imus gives out a Tassimo to whoever he thinks is the best guest of the day--i.e. CBS's Andy Rooney, NBC's David Gregory, Righty pundit Pat Buchanan, Senator John McCain, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, etc. What's been happening is that as the guests come back on the show, thank Imus for the Tassimo and gush about how much they love it. I have to say, it's valuable chatter about a product.

Kraft Invests $75 million in Tassimo Single-Cup System

1134494936796 20931638We've really been enjoying the Tassimo here at Single Serve Coffee.com. It's good news that Kraft Foods is reportedly investing $75 million in Tassimo, the one-cup brewing system it rolled out in the U.S. in September. We're anxious to see how many new flavors and new customers Kraft attracts to the Tassimo over this holiday season.

We're also excited to see many of the T-Discs and other items used for the Tassimo will be produced here in the US. The discs, some of which contain milk, will be made at Kraft's Upper Macungie plant starting early next year. The company is hiring more workers, but has not said how many it will add. The plant will be the first U.S. facility to make the discs.

Tassimo to Fuel Kraft Foods Growth

TassimoKraft Foods is getting behind new product ideas to fuel growth, and center stage for Fall 2005 is Tassimo. We reviewed Tassimo last month and have to say - it's quite good. As these large companies start to roll out more and more products in the Single Serve Coffee category, they are going to have to make them great.

Update: You can now order Tassimo at Amazon.com.

Last year we saw the release of the first Home Cafe products and they were not so good. The new Krups Home Cafe is a a much better machine. If these new machines and offerings are to compete - they have to be good right away. It's nice to see Kraft Foods get it right out of the gate with Tassimo.

Tassimo's Micro Brewing Architecture

4529 3090511945Gizmag has some more details on how Tassimo compares to many of the other in-market or soon to be in-market competitors like Senseo, FrancisFrancis! from illy, Keurig and Nespresso. Since we've reviewed each of the new machines as they've come out, it's interesting to see how the three compare.

We have found each of the new machines to have their pros and cons, but the fact remains - each of these systems really wants to own the single serve coffee market. Each of the manufacturers in the article continue to improve their machines and offerings and make lower and higher price points to get as many consumers as possible. And I have to agree from what gizmag says in the opening, competition does improve these machines. We've seen the latest Home Cafe from Krups simply erase the bad feelings we had about the entire Home Cafe line. Here's to an exciting Fall and even more coffee systems to choose from.

"Competition improves the breed, and no market segment on the planet can ignore that imperative. There is ALWAYS a better way, no matter what the endeavour and the growth of the capsule-based single cup brewer market over the last decade has been spectacular, with the market started by Nespresso, then followed by Senseo, Illy's E.S.E Espresso pods, and the Keurig system, amongst others."

Update: You can now order Tassimo at Amazon.com.

Review: Tassimo Hot Beverage System from Single Serve Coffee

Review from Single Serve Coffee.com - Coffee Pod Reviews We received Tassimo earlier this month to review and are feeling good about this new offering in the Single Serve Coffee arena. The machine is manufactured by Braun, however Tassimo was designed by Saeco and Kraft. Tassimo will launch in the US this Fall.

Update: Tassimo has two new brewers from Bosch. Check out our reviews of the Tassimo Bosch Brewers:

Also check out our continued updated Tassimo and T-Dics area of articles.

Update: Tassimo is now calling this system a "brewbot". What's a brew bot? The Brewbot (BROO·bot) is an advanced brewing machine programmed to make over seven different varieties of beverages. Brewbots can create coffees, lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, hot chocolates and coffee cremas all at the touch of a button. a.k.a. Roboticus Brewtus. The machines are the same as earlier Tassimo Bosch models above but being marketed as brewbots. Please check out our review links of the current lineup of Tassimo machines.

Updated Bosch Tassimo Review: Read our review of the new Bosch Tassimo hot beverage system here.

Tassimo - 09The Tassimo does not use coffee pods, ESE espresso pods, or K-Cups, but utilizes a new hot beverage brewing system in the form of T-Discs. Each T-Disc has a bar code on it to tell the machine how the hot beverage of your choice needs to be prepared, and the brewing of the coffee happens inside each T-Disc as water is pushed through it. Tassimo can make single serve coffee. single serve crema coffee, espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, tea and best of all - HOT CHOCOLATE.

Tassimo is also the first single serve coffee system to have liquid milk instead of powdered milk to make cappuccinos and lattes. You don't have to keep the milk T-Discs cold either, as they are shelf stable and ultra-pasteurized. By using milk T-Discs to make a latte or cappuccino, the Tassimo eliminates the need for a complicated steam wand or frothing attachment.

Update: You can now order Tassimo at Amazon.com.
